  1. Background? Bought it restored. Used to be in a blue 1.5 slab. Copy that I'm very happy to have. A-OK with restored copies like this all day. (thumbs u
  2. It should hopefully have some company soon.
  3. I don't think a certain number of posts makes a person any more or less trustworthy.
  4. Kudos to harvdoss for really fast and secure shipping on the JIM 89 and Batman 171 slabs. Easy transaction (thumbs u
  5. given that it is my book, I would have to be in the camp of "it is a fair opening bid".... let's put it this way, I started the bidding at a price I was willing to sell at (thumbs u
  6. This is the next SA key I plan on getting. Jimminy it's hard to find in nice shape though.
  7. I was told there would be no math!
  8. Don't believe it was washed. Spine was reenforce and some small pieces added to the bottom of the cover.
  9. I can't believe I forgot to post this awesome pick up (THANK YOU SO MUCH STEVE). Plus, this thread shouldn't fall to page 3.
  10. I just want to throw my two cents in; I'm not a very vocal user but I'd like to think that through my transactions both buying and selling I'm an established one: I do not understand what good the hall of shame, the probation list and the "long memories" do if users on those lists continue to post, get aliases or otherwise continue the proliferation of wrongdoings. It may be in the board's best interests to add user titles for the probation members or the Hall of Shame members, that way, all board members are aware that they are "on the list." I speak purely for myself, but I am unfortunately not able to be constantly kept abreast of the board dealings. This isn't a call for a tar and feathering so much as it is a call for accountability. If these threads exist, we clearly want accountability, so why not assist those who otherwise would not know they are dealing with someone "on the list." Additionally, there may be added incentive to right the wrongs that put them on probation or in the hall of shame if that appears under their user name. To make it more specific, as it pertains to the 30 day rule; anticipatory repudiation is a fundamental right in contract law. Since we seem to continually harken back to the most primitive of contract law, that is, "a deal agreed to is a deal," I see nothing wrong with shortening the 30 day rule if there is good cause to believe that time is inconsequential to the consummation of the agreement. Thanks for letting me rant, Trent
  11. Pretty nice 3.0 #35 in the next CLink auction... http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?id=837795
  12. Are they all on the island?
  13. I've had only the worst experiences with PGX, mostly ASM's cracked out of PGX blue to end up being what would be CGC green because of coupon clipping...and this is without any notation on the PGX label, but who would expect that.
  14. Why no credit cards on that SC 22? That's really strange...I assume metro cuts a check to the seller/consignor and that check is the same no matter how they're paid.
  15. Since you are so strict and accurate on your grading...I wouldn't be surprised if it grades higher than your expectation. I am hoping... praying it gets one grade above what I think
  16. I don't think you can draw a correlation between the quality of the character's modern ongoing and the price of their silver age 1st appearance. In some instances, the character becoming all but irrelevant certainly has to hurt what was a previously desirable book (like Whiz 2 and Adventure 247), but if the quality of the modern played a huge role, AF 15 wouldn't be the benchmark for the silver age. As you alluded, I think they only real driving factor is movie potential, and in the case of the Flash, the movie isn't in development so there's no real driving force there. I think a bigger role is the actual value of the book and the significance of the character. Avengers 4, right before the run up, was around $1,000 in 8.0, and that was priced aggressively. SC 22 was around $800 in 4.0 before the run up, AF 15 is the exception to the rule, but even considering the significance of the character, $3K for a 4.0 was reasonable, then boom! I think SC 4 has to have a further pull-back before it can surge, if it surges at all. That said, I would buy it at today's prices without hesitation because of the certainty that I could sell it at at least those prices in another 3 years, and I don't think there's another top-5 SA key you can say that about and have history on your side.
  17. The slight miswrap aside, the 5.0 is, to me, more desirable than the 5.5
