  1. it was fun to.....well...acquire, shall we say, extra goods that fell off trucks accidently, and sell the stuff to the students at fordham at "student rates" to help them. the good fathers would receive gift packages at no cost, of course. on 187th, you would have been surrounded by the members of the grecos clan. you couldn't walk down arthur ave. without running into a greco evrey 4 feet.
  2. lived at 189th and hughes. that is not how it worked. ok popcorn movie, though.
  3. my asian betrothed has changed her original family name to smith, due to this thread. tough crowd, for sure.
  4. that is a very informative example of what i described as simplicity appealing to me. thanks.
  5. the original pencil illustration is impressive, and maybe more so than the colored version, to me. i think it is the simplicity of the illustration that appeals to me.
  6. star in circles markings are reminiscent of ww2 army-air force identification.
  7. in nyc, the problem i have is making sure it is not cats or rats.
  8. i have never forgotten your health and fitness posts. i sincerely appreciated the "all the way" attitude that gave me the azzkicking i needed, to recall that attitude. i credit your encouraging advice and achievements for assisting me in my own improvements i trust you are still feeling well and the back pain has been kept to a minimum.
  9. i object! signed: nike new balance adidas clark etc.
  10. if only it was as the "sounds like" you describe....then it would have been interesting, if nothing else.
  11. so basically, the shoo is on the other foot.
  12. maybe stick to or switch to coin and/or stamp collecting. both hobbies offer a plethora of how to grading seminars, and in-depth classes. with examples, and books, and hands on learning and everything.
  13. you gave it away on the 5th post. you suck at wack-a-mole. what you do is up to you, though. not me. the only thought i have is that it is sort of cowardly to hide who you are. why? scared of being banned? of course not. so, what is the deal with that? i can understand if it is just to amuse yourself and your audience, but at least be honest about it. the rest is between you and moderation. not me. you will be back. that can be counted on. you are a wack-mole addict.
  14. as if nobody caught on the first few posts
  15. yep, definitely stu the 4th member of the group.
  16. thank you for the shout out. it has been 9-10 years, though. i still help some legal estates, and banks now and then, but the time is just not there any more. yes, i sure kept valuable items at the location i gave 1,000s of collectors a card to find it, that is what i did. yep. that is what it was. stu.......... or......... see, i answered a poll........ my name and address has been open info on the boards since 2007. i have been robbed 479 times. it was the darn cards. it is good though that you are catching up, in the first 5 days.
  17. clarification- i meant considering robot's point. he posted before i finished my never mind 2 cents.
  18. i would consider his point, though. optional poll or not, the simple truth is that the person responding can be identified, by board name. if the person's real name can be identified (and many members know many other member's real name) the supposed value of the "collection" can be linked to a person. if that person's name is known, the person's location can be traced. if the location can be traced, then bad things can happen. yes, invasive. i don't respond to not type of poll. nope. i can get in trouble without somebody else's help.
  19. i am curious about the strategic placement of one of the 'rings" in the first picture. it could be a dorian grey type of thing and the picture has come alive.
