  1. it is not the big ticket item that holds attention for me. the big ticket item usually has been researched to a level that the condition rarity historical value is a known factor. it is not $ value i am referring to. i understand there is something wrong with me. i can't help it.
  2. the knowledge is value. it has always been, to me. the $ have never been 1st for me. value is the original item, not doctored, not known for availability, not hyped for the benefit of the $ market, and not a slave piece that depends on supply and demand, and that is a real condition rarity. the best example i can give as to what i mean by value, is the philatelic and numismatic hobby, especially in the u.s. the pieces that are sought as a grail and priced accordingly, do not offer the value that so many other not hyped pieces from the u.s. and other countries and history do. the u.s. 1909 svdb 1 cent coin is an example of value, as i interpret value, that isn't.
  3. learning more, a lot more, and understanding what is and what is not value.
  4. as long as i can remember, this has been the collectibles value model. name the collectible that went to the highest stratosphere, above known engine ability to propel it in that flight pattern, and you can bet with confidence that there are some people hiding under the bed with remote firecrackers. it always ends with the originality and condition of the true rarities surviving the re-entry,, helped along by new knowledge added to the hobby about condition rarity, and after the doctoring and hype and the "i gotta have it" collectors get the point that they overpaid and now don't have enough wampum to purchase the deserving survivor collectibles. just an opinion, of course. life experience is fun. there is nothing wrong with jumping on the sell while it lasts faster wagon, as long as a collector knows when to jump off and walk. (how is that for ?)
  5. since i don't know you or interact with you on the boards, that i recall, i am confused at your ire for no reason. i get it all time, but there is usually an explanation. then, i just figured it out your are the member that was involved with the member nic in a sale situation that was less than satisfying for you. disclaimer: i don't know either of you. i posted a review of the issue. i can understand how it may not have been received by you in the manner intended. no harm no foul.
  6. this seems like a tremendous amount of work, for a less than sure thing gain. if somebody is artistic enough and original to come up with this kind of tooling finessing, then jesus, there are a lot more satisfying and less complicated pursuits that would pay better, like antique furniture restorer, wood cabinet restoration ( does anybody know the cost of purchasing new real wood cabinetry), or silk art repair.....very well paying, really. i don't understand the effort to bloink a comic for a few dollars.
  7. thank you. yep, i figured it out a while ago. as usual, i am slow on the technology stuff. i don't need the edit, though, because it is in my nature to not use caps, and to let my mistakes and sentence structure and spelling and lack of post clarity stand. lazy, i guess. plus, donut always thought i used caps to much and inappropriately. so....all small letters. easier. i only demand perfection from other people. i do wish marking a thread as read already was easier, though. i am old, and forget what i read already if 3 minutes or so passes.
  8. when i click on it, only 2 choices show up: report or share. i realize i only use the first one usually, but still....
  9. 1 was responding to sharon. i quoted her from your post. that is what happens. i was not addressing you. stuff happens.
  10. that is honor and self respect and self dignity. i certainly know you have these qualities, but that does not automatically transfer to all persons that are paid moderators or volunteer member moderators.
  11. even i am smart enough to respond to that one, and i don't know diddly. i will be sending you a costco eyeglass prescription coupon.
  12. if there happens to be one, let me look at it and i will identify. the subtle detail i will look for is the differnce between $1 and 5k to 10k, depending on condition. you can keep it all, i just want the credit for discovering 1 more, for total of 3 ps: don't show it to war comics...he doesn't know krap about them anyway. he thinks she was a native american golfer.
  13. i think i understand. there is no changing the change guess, after you have guessed the change, and if you posted your change guess already, you can not change it. is that correct? (i know what is coming....so make it a good one . corney deserves recognition also).
  14. explain to me why any member moderator should be kept secret. explain to me why any member moderator is allowed to moderate other members, when the member moderator commits the same type of infractions that another member receives a disciplinary action for. you use roy as an example (which you do very often) in emphasizing your perception of a political post. yet you have on many occasions, including the covid 19 thread, committed the same indiscretion that you accuse another member of. i do not recall you receiving disciplinary action for same, but i do recall the many times you hint at the post of another member. usually it is a member that you have publicly stated a less than courteous opinion of. secret member moderators that have always displayed a certain bent of opinion toward another member should never be allowed to moderate that member, or for that matter, any other member, for the very obvious reason that moderation denotes impartiality. again, why should any member moderator be kept a secret? i would also mention that i do not have any comfortability in the statement that every moderation action is reviewed by admin: it may be reviewed at a later point in time, but it isn't in real time. over and over, a member has been almost instantly disciplined after a post, by a member moderator, that is questionable as in need of discipline, save for the prejudices of the volunteer moderator there is a reason that public debates...sports, news topics, hobbies, etc.....have publicly known and disclosed moderators. "this evenings' moderators are: blahblahblah" throughout history humankind has rebelled against secret disciplinary action. it is a fear/control tactic. full disclosure: you know exactly where i stand on political posts. when i publicly disclose a reporting, should the volunteer moderator belittle the public disclosure of reporting? if the answer is yes, then that person is not impartial and should not be a moderator anywhere. if the answer is no, then the volunteer moderator should be honorable and resign.
  15. respect has a different meaning to certain moderators.
  16. i donated mod1 to you. you are welcome. get used to it. i have a doctorate in mod1 slapping. it is not so bad. it only takes 11 years to get used to it.
  17. it is obvious yours is phony. and here i am thinking you were a brilliant it guy.
  18. i have my moments. really? i take that as a compliment. i am new around here.
