  1. After exchanging PMs with someone, decided to post a screenshot of one of the inactive sites. This page is worth it to pay the hosting fees for the last 3 years of inactivity. Dealers are hoarders too...
  2. And, you can make an appointment to view the artwork. There was a thread somewhere about it. But I think that was on the old boards, so it is not searchable. (I just tried.)
  3. No (known) restored SA for me. I'm still looking for a restored Superman #1. CGC 1.0-1.8 is my budget. Amateur and older professional resto (maybe 15-20 years ago) isn't too difficult to learn to spot. I used to spend time at conventions at a dealers booth who would disclose resto. I would ask to see the book and ask him to show me where and how the resto was done on the book. Newer restoration by professionals I would seek help. One time I went to SDCC with a friend. On Thursday he would go to Richie M's booth, ask to see a bunch of books and find one with resto done. Then, he would give me three books to check out and see if I could spot the one that was restored. The loser paid for dinner. We switched roles on Saturday. That was fun.
  4. Awesome. Congratulations. It must stay raw. (Because it would probably cost you $1000 to get slabbed.)
  5. No time wasted getting these up. The Phantom Lady was graded last week. https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/1973736014/
  6. Good thing we're not calling attention to any specific comics in this thread. This will give me a small glimmer of hope that my 5X GPA bid has a chance.
  7. BB28. Although the real first team is the JSA that blazed the path for JLA then the rest. Maybe the OP meant to ask BB28 or FF4
  8. I used to have three of the run. But, passed them on for others to enjoy. Instead, I have these . . . guess which is my favorite.
  9. I use the 4mils, Silver/Gold size with FB on some nice SA books.
  10. A couple on the list closing tonight. The rest next week and the following week.
  11. I sold my GA collection years ago. Including a few Church copies. I may be coming back for this. I'm really looking forward to my printed catalog.
  12. Easiest to just quote a quote from wikipedia In early 1938, Harry Donenfeld send him and his wife on a cruise to Cuba to 'work up new ideas'. When they came home, the major found the lock to his office door changed. In his absence, Harry had sued him for nonpayment and pushed Detective Comics, Inc. into bankruptcy court. There a judge named Abe Mennen, one of Harry's old Tammany buddies, had been appointed interim president of the firm and arranged a quick sale of its assets to Independent News. Harry gave the major a percentage of More Fun Comics as a shut-up token and wished him well.
  13. Also the first guy in original comics to get shafted by the man. If you have a picture, that would be nice to share.
  14. Thanks for the compliment and feedback. It is appreciated and nice to know people use the site. Yes! A federated results page is what I want. I have thought of it. However, a custom scraper is needed for this, for all the sites that need to be scraped. Yikes! Given all the tools that are available, not an impossible task. But, something that my day job gets in the way of. (I'm not a programmer.) I have another project going on that I hope to finish this summer, something to do with the pain it is for me to track all the auctions I'm bidding on.

  17. Correct. There is no judgement in this list. I have a few failed businesses myself, but no regrets trying. I'll let this thread fade away. If anyone has an update, send me a PM and I'll see if I can update. Or, you can update the pinned threads in the SA/GA forums.
  18. I visited a friend who had mounted cut out strips. He used archival tissue (spider-tissue?) as the backing. The tissue helped prevent slippage. Then, he had some where the glass was right on top of the strip, holding it in place. Or, a nicely cut matte holding it onto the tissue. Good luck and post your pictures when you have it done.
  19. I've only done one large submission. I used a large, extra thick box and made bricks of 10 comics. Then, I put the bricks inside, lots of bubble wrap and away it goes.
  20. One and only let me know if there are any other updates to the list. If not, I'll post it back to the respective forums and revisit in the next 3-5 years.
  21. That was my guess as well. But, both URLs were listed in the thread, several pages apart, so in the interest of being thorough, I put both on the list. There were several sites from board members in various states, so I just listed everything I found.
