I wouldn't believe it if it didn't just happen to me, but guys, the big score still exists. Sorry for being verbose, it's all in excitement. If you don't want the saga, skip to the pictures.
My wife and I went to an antique/collectible show this morning. I found a few odds and ends, nothing comic related, a few original Wacky Packages/GPK packs and a hawaiian punch wrist watch. We decided to stop at our local flea market since it was on the way back, around 3 o'clock.
They do outdoor vending on good weather days, so you never know who will show up. Amongst the detritus and garbage of a panel truck full of junk, was a yellowed comic box on a table sporting no lid, about a third full, covered in all manner of odds and ends. All I could see from a distance was a 90s X Men comic with a lenticular cover through the handle hole. So curiosity piqued, I go over to look.
Most of the comics have fallen over so I stand them up to start flipping through and the first in the pile is New Mutants #87, I immediately jump! I keep flipping through and there's a lot of X Factor and X force with various other 90's X titles mixed in. Bagged, unbagged, no rhyme, reason or organization.
I make it probably 85% through the stack and WHAM I'm hit again, only this time harder. Deadpool, Domino, and Gideon staring me straight in the face, New Mutants #98. My wife, who's at the other end of the table, tells me to turn it around...a second copy is on the other side of the board...
All together 55 books, some small runs, but mostly random issues. I ask the man what he wants for them and he says, $1 a piece. So I give him $60, and tell him to keep the change. I'm not sure how the big comic vendor inside the flea market didn't get to them before I did, but today was my lucky day. Now on to the good stuff!

Something just doesn’t seem right about it. I have never seen or heard of it. Been collecting comics and advertising for a very long time. First of all, it is porcelain. This wouldn’t be used inside a store for a short promotion. A sign like this material would be used outside for a more permanent display. Second, there is no National Periodicals or DC markings. It just doesn’t look like DC art as well.
My guess is it is a fantasy item made to look “aged” for collectors. Still cool for the right price if you like it for display.
Fair assessment, and exactly why I posted it here. Too many fake signs out in the world and I knew someone knowledgeable would call it out if it was.

Now I'm not a big DC fan, or too much of a golden age collector, but this cover was speaking to me at the LCS when I went in for bags and boards a couple hours ago. The cover is totally split, and missing a few small bits along the spine, and the centerfold is loose, but it is complete, and the price seemed too good to pass. Not sure if I'll end up keeping it forever, but it sure does look good in that mylar.

Hey, look...a Marvel hero book.
Tales Of Suspense #49, 1964, Marvel. Let's be honest...this book is loaded. 1st X-Men cross over, and early appearance of them. OSPG says same date as X-Men #3, so tied for 3rd appearance? 1st Avengers cross over. And, 2nd appearance of The Watcher. Seems undervalued to me at that point. This was my long term copy until I lucked into an upgrade. Complete and seemingly attached, but there is glue between cover and first/last pages. Bottom staple may be detached from cover. Otherwise lots of general wear, a small stain in the logo, an import stamp (?) faint on the front lower left corner and on the lower left back corner, and a store stamp on the back saying Malaysia. So, this book has traveled. I have owned it for more than 15 years at this point. Without the glue, I would say 3.0 range. Adjust from there as needed.

Alright big haul today! All the books at this sale were $3 a piece, no exceptions. There were probably 20 short boxes and a dozen long boxes to go through. Everything was late 80s to mid 00s from all the major publishers. Being the second day of the sale things had been picked over a bit, and I could point at all the runs that were missing the more obvious keys, but honestly there was still a lot of great books just sitting around as you can see

How's the show looking Matt? Trying to decide if I want to leave the house and haul myself in.
