Kav, those where on auctions, you dont think those are too much of unpredictable variables verse majority asking price?

This is a situation where you and Kav are both kind of right.  You have always paid a premium, most likely because you are purchasing from a sophisticated SS marketplace - here or Ebay qualify.  SS books on Comiclink or especially Heritage often times tank.  And it demonstrates what lots of people here are dicussing.  There is a much smaller market, and if you miss the market, you will get a fraction of what the book is "worth."

If your telling me that yellow labels on CL and heritage are cheaper than Ebay....  I AM SO THERE MAN!

I never disparage what other people like to collect. I collect plenty of things most folks would turn up their noses at. Even my most mainstream collecting choices are still VERY niche (1st printings of softcover trades, a complete set of all printings of Killing Joke, 1950's romance comics with catfight covers, etc).

But if I had a choice between a 9.8 Amazing 301 with Tom DeFalco's signature or without? I'll take the one without. Todd and David's signatures sort of add value to that book, sort of. But Tom and Stan's signatures do nothing but reduce my interest.

Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it. And if the purchaser is stoked, that's awesome. I'm beyond stoked whenever I find a copy of Romantic Hearts 9 and it's not like anyone else in this thread is actively chasing it.

But if I had to invest $15,000 in copies of Amazing 301 today with no ability to resell them for 20 years? I doubt I buy a single Yellow Label.

I think the conversation is not about personal preference, but more of a economical fact.  and the fact is that yellow label 301 at 9.8 is worth more than a blue label 9.8

from my investigation it's more like 50%.  search SA sig vs blue for yourself sold auctions.

every book i compared against my collection to signed always had a premium.  every yellow label i bought cost me more than the matching blue label

That is so wrong. As long as you can afford the interest, I say go for it.  Why be denied something you want just because you can't pay for it.  Why is it horrible to discriminate against race or religion or who a person sleeps with but it's considered good business to do so against the poor?

There is no racism with money...  either you have it and want to spend it or you dont have it and cant spend it.  Its the same BS about making home ownership affordable for low income people... low income and mortgages dont mix.  hence the 2008 financial melt down.  cant own?  rent.  thats it.  dont have money to spare, then dont.  personal responsibility.

He seems to follow quite a few board members that I recognize on eBay.  This was for a $150 comic.

    My response follows.  Because...

by all means-- create yet another ebay thread as this topic has never been addressed.

Can we get some admins who will clean out comics general board? We have old thread that are not only locked at the top of the page but also locked for additional reply --- archive those somewhere!

And these various other threads like the ebay ones covering the exact same thing or other topics like Collectorz software etc---- why can't these be combined down?

Is that asking too much to make the board somewhat more usable? Is anyone else tired of scrolling down 10 threads to find the current topics? Don't get me started over the myriad of COVID19 threads as well.

I find these actions disrespectful of the other members of this board.

Just out of curiosity, if you find a thread that is redundant or out of place, why take the time to click on it, make a reply on it and reply on a comment?  Sounds hypocritical on your part for spending the energy on something u hate. Or just attention whoring...  either one. Just my 2c
