Another book from the Black_Hand!

(Bought this one from Black_Hand - I might be buried with it!

What the hell - I went through my books tonight and pulled out some new acquisitions as well as some of my favorites. The highest grade of these hands down is the Blue Ribbon #2 - that thing has white paper and no noticeable flaws. Too bad it's just a Blue Ribbon #2! Since I had the scanner fired up, and MLJ needs its own scans thread (let's see 'em, 143ksk and Vince (and sacentaur, and Bangzoom, etc.)

To you guys posting full pages from those early Detectives and New Adventure Comics: I'm DYING to read some of those books! Is there anyway you can reveal how I too, could read those entire stories? Thanks in advance! PM me if you could! Shawn

Right, Top Notch 2 from January '40 had some nice one page splashes as I recall. Some pretty amazing stuff. I've found a lot of things that go against the prevailing wisdom of early comic lore . A lot of these things, like the 1 page splashes, are just because a lot these books, while they've been collected, haven't actually been read by some collectors. The prevailing wisdon for a long time was that Marvel Mystery # 4 was the first Nazi war cover but that was absolutely false, it was Top Notch #2 which was the first Nazi war cover with a swatzika on the cover battle scene. It took a long time for Overstreet to half heartedly correct this.... wouldn't want to devalue Marvel Mystery 4 now would they. Let's not forget this page from Blue Ribbon Comics #3, January 1940:

You come up with some great pics, Shawn. I particularly liked the snake oil salesman you had in some other thread. I posted it to get a rise out of Steve, aka Showcase-4. He took the bait hook, line and sinker. Or perhaps his son did; I can never remember which one of them are using his account.

I was bored tonight and thought it might be fun to add a little classified section on my own website. My goal is to get some interest on the site and more users, and the marketplace on here sometimes hard to find what you're looking for (Lots of bronze, silver sprinkled in with the occasional gold) So, I broke the classified section down into genres - Gold, Silver, Bronze, Modern. Sure, I'll post one tomorrow night. You say it like you've got 3 or 4 copies of it laying around Actually, whenever I get a request, I print up a new one. I don't know how many times this poor MLJ collector has to refresh this thread before he sees your sweet Pep 22!
