So in the past two and a half weeks I've managed to read another 120 issues of comics. I'm still making my way through Hellboy and B.P.R.D. again (I don't think ill ever get tired of reading those books.) and have also been reading my weekly pulls which you can see below. Not much GA or SA has been read these past few weeks, been to busy reading newer stuff but what i did read was enjoyable, I picked out a few DC sci-fi books to read and while at times they can be pretty cheesy, I really liked them. I don't think I've really read that much DC sci-fi from that era. I think I'm gonna start diving more into them. I really enjoyed the couple Adam Strange stories that I read. I've got pictures again with this update and will have any remarks I have on the book below them.

2021 TOTAL: 586I was really excited that they finally reprinted Scene of the Crime. I read the first 2 issues I found in some back issue bins awhile ago but never got to read the rest until now.
Good ol' Goon fun. I love this series! I haven't read the whole series in its entirety so I'm starting here.
This book I found on a discount shelf at my LCS and for $10 I thought it was worth the gamble. This thing is so cool. The creators made an augmented reality app to go along with the book so while you're reading it you can open the app, point it to a page and a character/ ship/ creature will come to life off the page that you can (somewhat) interact with. Each page has a bio on the character or creature or whatever else it is you're currently looking at. The story is pretty good, dialogue is lacking at times but the overall experience of this book is really cool and very immersive. The retail price tag is kind of pricey at $75 but if you can find it cheaper (which you can on amazon) I would recommend picking it up. The book is huge too (10x15 inches) so there's some really cool spreads that you can spend a good amount of time looking at.

Great stuff being posted everyone! Im really enjoying seeing everything.
This book is probably one of my earliest collections.
Book of All-Comics published in 1945 by Fox Feature Syndicate. Unfortunately my copy is pretty beat with no cover and quite a few missing pages. There's still plenty to read in this copy though.

I have the old testament version and didn't even think of posting it here. I think these are so cool. These were some thick comics for back then. This also reminds me of another collection that I should post.

Well I loved the first mini series (House of Glass), but to be honest, each following mini series was more of the same. Curse of Crows was fine as well, but Fox Children dropped of in quality, and then Flesh and Fame became a chore to get through. So much so that I didn't even start on the next one...Maybe it was my fault by reading them all back to back, but on the other hand a few years ago I read Avengers 1-500 in order over the course of a few months and that didn't drag at all
That's kind of the impression I was getting for some reason, that they would drag. I'll check out the first couple series though. Thanks for the info.

Well, I've finally finished Hickmans run on avengers and everything that was tied into it. Finished it with Secret Wars (Secret Wars was actually the series that got me back into reading comics regularly on a weekly basis so it was cool to go back and read everything that led up to it so I knew what was going on). After finishing that I've only kept up with the Guardians books (none of the spinoffs though, just main title) that leads up to Infinity Wars. I just started reading through Infinity Countdown and it's tie-ins this past week. I've (almost) been keeping up with my reading one vintage comic from my collection a day, some of the highlights are the Planet and Wings Comics (obviously, you can't really beat fiction house when it comes to vintage/ golden) and I've also been reading The Defenders. Started with around issue 50 or so and have been reading since there. The Defenders is just plain old good marvel fun. I recommend it if you're looking for something not too serious and not too in depth to read.

23 hours ago, sfcityduck said:It is the "Four Immigrants Manga" a graphic novel about the Japanese immigrant experience in America that has a strong argument to being the first true original graphic novel in what we know as the contemporary style. The subject matter is the same as that plowed by Eisner in his graphic novels about the Jewish immigrant experience. Published out of the San Francisco in 1931, the intended audience was Japanese-Americans as you had to be able to speak both English and Japanese to read it. Very rare, but Fred Schodt got a lot of press in the late 90s for his translation (he only translated the Japanese language word baloons for his book, which are in perfect English, as contrasted to the broken English as heard by Japanese immigrants when the US born characters talk). Here's some pics:
Here's what Fred's translation looks like (the printed English was originally in Japanese):
Thats very interesting. Im gonna have to try to track down a translated copy.

I would also love to see that GN from 1931!

Today I think I'm gonna go with some Wolverine books. This first one was given to me from a friend several years ago. I really love the cover to this one.
Wolverine Battles The Incredible Hulk, 1st printing, 1989. Collects Incredible Hulk 180-181.
This second book was given to me by the same friend at the same time.
The Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past, 1st printing, 1989. Collects Uncanny X-Men 141-142
This next TPB is probably my favorite out of my collection. This is a Canadian reprint of the 1st app of Wolverine, also the first time Wolverine was printed in a Canadian comic book, so iguess you could say this is his first Canadian app. I found this at a swapmeet a few years ago for $2.
The Incredible Hulk, Les Editions, 1978. Collects a couple pages out of Hulk #1 (Hulk's origin), 147, 180-181.

They’re superb.
Great reads, incredible artwork.
Classic western series.
Awesome, Ill add it to the list of stuff to read then. Looks like something that'll be right up my alley. Thanks!

I also have Spider-man and Hulk in hardback by another publisher, Children’s Press;
Does anyone know if Fantastic Four and/or Captain America exist in hard back? I searched for many years on eBay but eventually gave up actively looking.
Those Ideals are very cool. I've never seen those hardcovers by childrens press before. Thanks for sharing!

I'm loving seeing all these Firesides and other good stuff posted so far, today I'm gonna post some of my Batman books.
This first one was given to me by a friend of mine in like 3rd or 4th grade.
Batman: Tales of the Demon: Warner Edition - 1st printing. Collects Batman (1940-2011) #232, 235, 240, 242-244; Detective Comics (1937-2011) #411, 485, 489-490; and DC Special Series (1977-1981) #15.
This next one I wouldn't consider older, but I think it belongs on this list. I found this copy at a swapmeet not too long ago for $5, right before it exploded in value.
Batman: Ego, 1st Printing Prestige Format, 2000
This is one of the books that i saw on the shelf when it came out and went home and figured out how to make enough money to buy it. Mowed quite a few lawns for this one.
Batman: The Long Halloween 1st Printing, Hardcover. 1998. Collects Batman: The Long Halloween 1-12
This is another that's not really that old, but I grew up on Kelley Jones' Batman and I was a huge fan of his vampire trilogy. This is the only 1st edition of the 3 that I still own. Red Rain and Bloodstorm got lost somewhere over time.
Batman: Crimson Mist, 1st Printing, Hardcover, 1999
That's all I have for Batman that's scanned right now.
Here's another book I had to mow some lawns for. I bought this and then we left for a camping trip for the weekend right after. Most of that trip was spent in the tent reading this over and over.
Venom Returns, 1st Printing, 1993. Collects ASM 330-333, 344-347, and Annual #25.
And last but not least, Carnage. This trade was my first introduction to carnage. I was already a huge Venom fan so when i saw this i was all over it. I couldn't wrap my mind around how they allowed such a violent character into Spider-Man comics (the torn up guy on his shattered desk, shoving that lady into a marble wall, throwing a frickin' baby out a window!) and i ate it up. Is that bad? Lol
Spider-Man: Carnage, 1st Printing, 1993. Collects the introduction (6 pages of story) to Cletus Kasady from Amazing Spider-Man (1963-1998 1st Series) #344-345 and 359-360 and collects Amazing Spider-Man (1963-1998 1st Series) #361-363 (in their entirety).

I searched the boards for awhile now for a topic along the lines of this and couldn't find one so I figured lets start one. If there was one started already, please point me in the correct direction.
I don't know about anybody else but I have a weird fascination with older and/or out of print graphic novels and trades. I'm talking 90s-70s (I know that's not that old, but for trades I feel like its on the old side). So I figured I would show some of mine off and hopefully some of you guys will share yours as well. Id love to see them. Seeing these trades brings back such a feeling of nostalgia, especially those ones from the late 80s early 90s, they bring back good memories of being in the book store and looking through the comics/graphic novels section when I was a kid, or of all the hard work I did to save up money to go buy the latest trade/ GN that I saw and wanted and hoping it would still be there.
I'll start with some of the earliest that i can remember buying that i still have.
This first one I bought at an antique fair, cant remember how much it was but i know it was cheap, probably a dollar or so.
Silver Surfer: The Ultimate Cosmic Experience by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, 1978

Went digging through a $2 box today and pulled some gems out of there.
World of Wakanda #1
30 Days of Night Annual 2005 Retailer Incentive
Birds of Prey #69 (Just thought it was a cool Huntress cover)
Sweet Avengers #4 cover swipe
MTG: Dakkon Blackblade unopened with card. I was surprised to see that this comic/card goes for some decent money. Around $30-$40 for the card alone and $50-$75 for the comic/card unopened.

Of course store stamps count! Love to see old store stamps or heck even ones that are still around but were stamped eons ago!
Same here, I especially love finding old store business cards that have been stashed away in a comic as well.

Came across a store stamp on a book I picked up today. (Do back covers count as well?) I know I have more to share, I just gotta dig through some boxes and find them.
Looks like Comics & Comix, Irving St. I can't make out anything below since it's stamped over black. I tried looking it up but didn't get any results. I did however find a store in San Francisco called Amazing Fantasy and that address is 650 Irving St, so maybe it's the same location/store, just changed names.
This week in your collection?
