I don't understand the hype behind the 1990 set and why everyone's saying those are the rookie cards. Did everyone forget about the marvel sets Topps put out in the late 70s? I understand saying the Hulk181 is a rookie card (of a comic book? seriously?) but ,most of these characters appeared on cards long before the 90s.

Had quite the eclectic mail day yesterday. Knocked off some more Venom issues that I needed and also treated myself to a group of Golden Age. My faves have got to be the Wings and Whiz comics.
I also took in a box of trades to my LCS that I didn't want/ have room for/ had doubles of and traded them for a stack of Defenders books, almost a complete run from issue 55 to 105.

If my memory is correct most or all of them tmnt the two at the right are muckman and wyrm the extreme left dont recall name but tmnt too but i dont remember the ape one hhha memory not what you used to be....hope it was usefull
Thank you! Yes that is useful. I didn't even think of TMNT. The 2nd from the right looked like the toxic avenger so that's why I was thinking that.
P.S. After looking them up I've discovered the ape is named Sgt. Bananas. Cant think of a better name for that guy. from L to R: Scumbag, Sgt. Bananas, Muckman, Wyrm

My mom just bought a house and I went by there the other day to go check it out. I found a box in the garage that had an assortment of toys, mostly baby toys, balls and these four action figures. I have no idea what they're from. I think they were a few years before my time. My first thought was Toxic Avenger. Anyone know what these are?

What’s your thoughts on King in Black? I haven’t read any modern Venom. How much backstory do I need to have to follow it?
I'm loving it, but I also grew up a huge Venom fan and he's been my favorite since. The only real backstory you need to know is Cates' and Stegman's run on Venom, you don't need to go ALL the way back to his 1st app. Absolute Carnage is also a lead in to King in Black. So pretty much just any venom related stuff for the past 3 years. I'd recommend it but I'm also biased.

These past few weeks, I've still been making my way through Hickman's "Time Runs Out" story and also started reading Bendis' run on Guardians of the Galaxy. I've almost made it through the whole omnibus, just have the last 4 issues in the collection to go (Guardians of Knowhere, which I plan on reading after I finish Time Runs Out and Secret Wars). Id say the majority of my NCBD reads have been King in Black. I have been enjoying the Marvel anthology series as well. Batman: Black and White has been amazing and so has the Other History of the DC Universe. if you haven't read Other History yet, I highly recommend it. Between Guardians and Time Runs Out, I've really slowed down on my GA books reading. I did get a few in though, my favorite on this list has to be Startling Terror Tales #11, it doesn't get much better than golden age crime comics. I've also started to read Jim Starlin's Dreadstar. Got through the first book which collects Epic Illustrated 1-9. I'm looking forward to the rest of it.

Some of my favorite cosmic stuff from that time period is the original Thanos saga, beginning in Iron Man 55 and ending in Marvel Two-in-One annual 2. A good majority of these issues are getting on the pricey side but you can get the whole saga in the trade, Avengers vs. Thanos.
Edit: Don't know why these uploaded sideways but I cant seem to correct it for some reason.

I thought I'd share some of my favorite pulps/paperbacks in my collection. Here's a couple really cool ones to start out with. These two have got to be my favorite paperbacks from my collection.
3 Girls and a Killer by H. Donald Spatz,1943. This book was published by Red Circle Magazines which was owned by Martin Goodman. Also features a "killer" cover by Peter Driben.
Battling the Wolves of Society: The Narcotic Evil, 1929. I just really like this because its an early look into the history of America's "war on drugs".

War of Kings is hopelessly out of print.
I loved Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest. I read those in floppies when I still had a modern pull list.
I’ve heard that the modern Cosmic Saga also includes War of Realms but haven’t caught up to reading that yet.Yea, that's what it's looking like. I'll just have to read it on the app or some other way. I'll look into War of Realms also. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got my first Omnibus in the mail today. I knew these things were big but I think I still underestimated just how big. Just made my way through the first "chapter'' of this series. Ive been thinking of reading the whole Annihilation/Kings series after this and getting those in omnibus as well (Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, War of Kings including Prelude and Aftermath). I cant seem to find a copy of WoK for less than $300 though! Is that OoP?

I don't have very many Hitler/Axis/WWII covers but I'm excited to share what I do have. Sorry about the Mylar glare, these are pretty much the cream of my crop and I'm too scared to take them out of the Mylar. I'll dig through some more boxes to see if I've got any others I've forgotten about.
Speed Comics #11 1940
Clue Comics #4 1943
Mystery Men Comics #27 1941
Yankee Comics #2 1941 (also a splash page from the Rebel story in Yankee Comics 2)

Today I've got a copy of Jungle Action #6 up for your grading. The book has a slight spine roll, and as you can see in the scans, quite a few tears/chipping to the front and back cover. Pages are probably cream to off white but are all accounted for and attached firmly to the staples. Thanks for looking and any help on this one.

So these past couple weeks I've been making my way through the Marvel Now era's events and Hickman's run on Avengers. I've read pretty much everything up to ''Time Runs Out" and will be starting that soon. Got half way through the Avengers World complete collection and noticed a recap of events happening in Original Sin and Avengers/X-Men: Axis so I ordered those, finished Original Sin today and will be reading Axis next before continuing on with the rest of Avengers World and then onto Time Runs Out. I'm pretty sure I don't need to read everything to be caught up with Hickman's run but I've really been enjoying the Marvel Now series so I've been trying to read most of what I can to get the "full picture". I also started Reborn last night and finished it this morning. I've been looking forward to reading that for awhile but was kind of let down. I don't really have any major complaints on the book, just felt like it fell short of its potential. And as you'll notice in my list, I've read a few Golden Age books. There's nothing that beats good ol' GA. Reading a copy of Joe Palooka again made me remember how much I really like that series, it had pretty in depth stories for the time it was coming out. I'll probably be tracking down some more issues to read soon.

This was supposed to be Race for the Moon #4, which was never printed under that title so they used the material for this book.

Well, these are nowhere near as impressive as most of the books recently posted, but here's some GA I've picked up recently.
