You can easily see most of the flaws with this one -spine wear, rolled, corner creases and wear. What you can't see is the tape I added to keep it together. So I thought I'd specify that for you this time:

• Small piece of tape - 1/2 inch - on FC over each staple 
• Inside FC side edge: top corner 1 in. tape  and bottom corner 1/2 in tape inside. Also inside edge midway 1 inch tape. 
• A story page inside has 1/2 the page taped on both sides of edge. Does not effect story.
• Ad page inside has 1/2 page taped one side.

 Book and story is complete. Tape, and paper beneath it are in very good shape.

Wow! This is different! Yeah 6.0 because of back

1.5. Perhaps you should apply some tape to keep this together or else you will deteriorate it even further by handling. This is real great Golden Age book - wonder if it could be restored?

Pretty severe spine wear and some dirt and shadow on back. 

But I'd like to call your attention to the artistic detail on this cover. I first noticed this on the close up of the bottom right corner. The inking on the man's face, the splashes, shades of blue in the water and the sunset color. So I did a crop of the cover taking the comic title at top and the faces of the Howling Commandos on side out. The resulting pic -with "DUM DUM DOES IT THE HARD WAY!" in the top left corner - shows all the detail and the overall beauty of this cover!  Kudos to Ayers on this!

Marvelmaniac pointed out some other defects, such as spine stress that keep it from a 7.0.So as is I'd give it 6.0. A C&P, especially for back, would raise this maybe even to 7.0

I too wonder what that blue shadow on bottom of back is. What are those white spots on some pages and inside back cover? Water? As-is 4.5to 5.0.C&P may get it to 6.0

Top of back pretty bad -water damage? Pages tan and edges look brittle..2.5,maybe 3.0

6/6.5 press could get to 7.0

Defects are apparent, but all pages attached and complete.  

9.0 sounds good.

My guess is ghost image is just slight color bleed from cover
