  1. I want one of those so bad I can taste it. Beautiful mags. Congrats. I hope to put a mag submission together soon as well. Problem with mag subs is they're so expensive to have graded. You can't use collectors society coupons on them either which is why I no longer pay the annual fee because I would never use the coupons.
  2. Sorry for the typos I'm thumb typing fast on my iPad.
  3. Imve got the Pixma 9000 with 8 different inkwells and I'm letting photoshop manage color but until I resolve my monitor situation it will continue to be a struggle.
  4. New stuff! Looks great. I really like 'Michaela 9' Thanks. I'm still struggling with a couple of issues of calibration between what I'm using as a monitor and how they appear on other sources. I'm about to buy an IPC monitor though that displays over a billion colors and has been pre-calibrated for photography. Have you printed any of your pieces yet? DId you have to do much editing to get what you wanted on the print? That's part of my problem. Since I'm using a 42" plasma TV as a monitor at the moment they colors always looks nice and vivid n the TV but look flat and drab (even the black and whites) when I print them or view them on other devices. My new monitor will help tremendously.

  6. My photography has become my medium of choice again and if anyone is interested you can check out some of my work on my Flickr account at www.flickr.com/dwshoots You can log into Flickr using Yahoo, Gmail, or Facebook account info without actually having to create an account. Mind you, the reason you have to log in is because I should also state, my Flickr account is NSFW. Let me know what you think.
  7. Oh Wow! One of my FAVORITE books! The colors on this copy are amazing!!! That may have been my copy. I think. This one is from the "Smoke Shop collection". Has a stamp on back cover. Was it once yours? I don't remember. The tear in the top left looked familiar. I could be wrong though. Nice book btw!

  9. That's the key word here. They don't want someone running a business selling and buying books while employed there.
  10. I'm interested in trading a Charisma Carpenter Playboy CGC SS 6.0 for something. I'm looking for either other Playboy's signed, or other magazines possibly. Her sig price on a Playboy now is $100 if you can actually get a chance to see her plus magazine grading prices are for the pits
  11. The best way to find out is to call them honestly. I do hope they expand I to grading more magazines and really I hope they will finally start accepting Collectors Society certificates for grading them as I've had some expire.
  12. Oh crapn I just realized I didn't post the other one yet. Give me a minute.
  13. Another Pussycat page added to my collection. This is the 3rd page of the same story from the previous one that I posted.
  14. Pussycat, Pussycat, I still love you! Picked up from Anthony Snyder over the weekend. Here's my 3rd Elvira Splash page, also picked up from Anthony. Vampirella Second Coming #3 cover by Billy Tucci. My second cover from the new series.
  15. I've managed to acquire another Pussycat page so I'll be able to provide some more publishing information based on the back of it. I'm not 100% sure of the story though. So someone may need to help with that as it is a Hatfield-McCoy kissing cousins type story. I'll scan it tomorrow.
  16. Wow, so no credit for his contributions to technique (e.g., the use of enlarged Ben-Day dots), the development of the Pop Art movement, or all the work he did in his career outside of the brief period (1961-1965) he worked on the cartoon-themed pieces for which he's come under such heavy criticism here? His Rouen Cathedrals (a number of which are currently on exhibition at LACMA), anyone? FWIW, I appreciate your willingness to be the lone voice of defense for contemporary art. I don't think that anyone here is falling back on enlightenment painting, impressionism or symbolism as the last great movements in art because of it's figurative and symbolic content. I think that what you are hearing is the very thing I referred to in my post: that most contemporary art fails in it's fundamental purpose- to communicate a complex, meaningful idea to it's audience. As I've said, there are exceptions, but avant-gardeism is really built on a hyper-subjective view of art, one that emphasizes differences over similarities in the experience of being human. For me, this is the antithesis of great art. It doesn't inspire, empathize, commiserate, or celebrate. And often, it denegrates, demeans, or otherwise devalues aspects of our society. A little bit of criticism is quite useful and goes a long way. But we're talking about an entire period of fine art that has been dedicated to only criticism. It is far easier to spit in every one's face than to take part in a real act of creation. And that is the cop out the vast majority of artists take today. Again, there are exceptions (always there are exceptions). But this is what turns most people away from contemporary art. Or at least, this is what I hear and read from the general public. Technique, or process, matters little compared to content. I do appreciate craft and innovation as much as anyone, but I'm not looking to assess who had the best method of stroking a canvas or applying color. I'm looking for the end product. The image and the story it tells are so much more important to me. Try as I might, you said exactly what I had been trying to say but far more eloquently.
  17. Ok, here is the full Pussycat story. I just received it in the mail today. Pussycat, Pussycat, I love you! Yes I do! Also, I believe that I can add to the master list because on the back of these pages are each time the story was published and which issue and number of what it was published in. 50, if you'd like this info, let me know!
  18. This just arrived in the mail today: Pussycat, Pussycat, I love you! Yes I do!
  19. Lets find the original image Lich swiped from, license it and sell the shirts for $50
  20. Back when I sold toys much of my stock came from Friday garage sales and area auctions. I use to turn down Transformers at $1-2 a piece. Anyway, I use to find some great deals on items mostly by just telling the people why I was looking for. Smeone brought an AT-AT out of a bedroom for me once complete with chin guns and when I asked how much they wanted, they said $5 I sold it the next day for $150 Rarely did I ever offer a price up unless something was marked and then I might of offered less. I was the master of digging through the boxes of toy parts and finding those small rare pieces that were always missing from items and usually would only pay a quarter for them or sometimes they were just given to me. The value difference for those small missing items was tremendous. For example, the chin guns on the AT-AT made the price difference of about $75-100 on it. The medallion for the 12" Han Solo doll made about a $200 difference at the time. Really more if you factor in the fact that most people want a complete one and one that isnt complete will just sit forever.
  21. The future of these mags is what I'm doing.... Signature series!
