  1. It's been a sweet ride for me in this contest. A huge shout out and thanks to Mike for hosting this contest.
  2. The first Bat Girl to the first Silver Age Detective Comic
  3. I always thought he had it slightly over graded. I checked a couple of 7.0 books in my collection and you just might be right. One looks slightly better but has a small back corner cover that's has been impacted slightly. The other 7.0 has an area of slight color loss along the spine and the top, both on the front cover, but otherwise is pretty pristine.
  4. Now that's pretty cool ! I bought mine 10 years ago. I don't usually keep detailed enough notes, but I do create a new Excel list every year, so I can at least tell what year a given book appeared in my collection.
  5. Bought my copy several years ago from my LCS. He normally grades conservatively, but I wonder on this book as he had it at 7.0
  6. Sweet copy and tough to find in high grade as the black cover shows the tiniest of flaws.
  7. Did much better this round, but had the Spider Man book at 8.0 and wound up with 7 points.
  8. From sudden death in the sky to the battle of the sky chiefs
  9. I use a variety of tools. I have my collection in Xcel. I also use Nostomania and Go Collect, neither work well for all books. I also use Microsoft SQL Server. I can upload my collection from Xcel and have a database in short order. Recently I have created a subset of my collection using SQL to track my most valuable books. About a year ago I wrote a SQL -script to track price changes and percentage changes in value for my slabbed books. Obtaining reliable pricing is the tricky part, and labor intensive as many of my books are thinly traded. What's really needed is an automated way to capture all of the latest prices, perhaps using screen scraping.
  10. Picked up a few more PB's in the last couple of weeks. Pohl's Drunkards Walk, touted to be bitingly funny, but a read of the first few chapters shows it to be written in a sober fashion Space Station #1, also in the Ace "D" series proved worthy of a re-read. Currently reading "Return to Tomorrow" (emsh cover), a rare sci-fi space travel novel that pays attention to the time lapse difference on Earth compared to those traveling at near light speed. Located another of Rohmer's novels, this the first in the series on Doctor Fu-Manchu. Finally, winter relief, via a murder mystery in Havana with a map back.

  12. From thawing out of block of ice to duel heat beams blasting a rock open
  13. Ive been fairly busy this last couple of weeks, and found a few books for my Batman collection. They are just reader copies. The 80 page giants are packed with great stories. I also picked up Flash #137, a book I have been looking to obtain for quite some time.
  14. Heck I racked up 6 points on the Wonder Woman book alone, as I didn't spot the signs of the subscription crease.
  15. From a man firing a blaster at an alien beast to aliens firing blasters at a spaceman
  16. From two guns against Geronimo to the riddle of two solar systems
  17. Two super heroes to two ordinary guards trying to stop four wooden Indians.
  18. It's been quite a while since I bought a Flash book, but I have a remedy as this book just arrived today.
  19. From a punch that blasts open a wall to the mightiest punch of all time.
  20. From a punch with an optic blast to a punch that blasts open a boulder
