An industrial disaster.

I think I'm hallucinating reading this too... I bought a piece of his collection 1 year and half ago, and so took some time, aside, to talk with him, by email, about his restoration works. Nice guy, and a very helpfull guy to make the transaction happening, too (I'm located overseas) I think I'm hallucinating...

I don't know what is currently the most ridiculous coming from him : this or the bad photo-novel he is doing with JR SR's picture (and bad paste-up) on the Spectacular SM 259 page...

Donny Cates return "Original" Cover art Miracleman # 1
Ecclectica replied to MagnusX's topic in Original Comic Art
We can also imagine the situation where the two didn't communicate... If Cates see the art, think it's the bargain of his life, give the money right away in ten seconds to Albert, would Albert necessarily say "I must warn you it's a recreation" ? (it's an open question) -
Thanks. It would make sense. I saw on the pics in the previous post he was displaying at least one other painted recreation of another original cover.
-
Does somebody have seen there how Albert was selling it ? As a recreation or as the original ?

Help identifying some JUDGE DREDD original art
Ecclectica replied to Book Guy's topic in Original Comic Art
Your page is in 2000 AD #404 (Feb 1985) -> Steve Dillon in "City of the Damned" indeed ! Cover for #404 Previous pages First page of #405 -> "Stop them !" repeated #405 cover Collected in "Judge Dredd : The Complete Case Files" TPB 8 (2007) -
To lighten the topic a little bit, I can't decide which one of these current Ebay entries is the funniest : - this obscure piece of work, maybe the new "Salvator Mundi" : https://www.ebay.com/itm/294378276117?hash=item448a500515%3Ag%3ADx8AAOSwo8RhGZUJ&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338181027&customid=958&toolid=10049 - ... or this flip (?) attempt, where you don't know what you're really buying : https://www.ebay.com/itm/234175951669?hash=item3685f97335%3Ag%3AQ5sAAOSwwRdhNh0p&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338181027&customid=958&toolid=10049 An original art piece, a poster, a production art piece, a babe, a funhouse antique, 3 Marvel Masterworks or a sailor cap (including the sailor ?) ? Even on these, inflated prices are here.

Display Porfolio Suggestions For Comic Pages
Ecclectica replied to Tnexus's topic in Original Comic Art
I'm a small collector so I don't have many pages, and so not many portfolios. To deal with the differents formats that I already encountered (70's, 80's, oversized, modern or even sometimes totally homemade by the artist - Art Adams - that break all standards) - a situation which can soon become a nightmare - , I took the radical decision that you don't want to consider : - A2 format art porfolios for pages - A3 format art portfolios for sketches My porfolios have black sheets inside, so, as a result, the presentation is excellent in my opinion, as if the pages were framed by the remaining / surrounding black area. I'm probably in a minority here, but this way, the disparities in what you buy and then store are totally levered and the "too tight" situation (when pages render unevenly in a portfolio) disappears too. I got used to manipulate them, and handling the A2 ones has its style (it impresses friends every time, for a few seconds, as if I was taking out a Ferrari of my garage ) -
Well, Glen, if I had such a good eye, I wouldn't have doubts on some... The "Mignola"'s, "JR JR"'s, ... no problem, but I don't know what to think about the "Cooke"'s. Not enough familiar with the late Darwyn to see the evidence jumping to my face... A funny side note is the "Larson". As if the typo was an convenient excuse for this item, beeing the worst of the lot (and as if the guy was telling himself that no effort would be lost this way, pairing it with a deformed - - Spider-Man just to be sure of his shot anyway).

Many of the others sketches he already sold seems to be forgeries IMHO, but I would be glad to hear what you think of them... https://www.ebay.com/sch/Books-Magazines/267/m.html?item=224583343112&toolid=10001&campid=5338116315&customid=CGCForum&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&hash=item344a35dc08%3Ag%3AA7MAAOSwHJphI7Cs&LH_Complete=1&_ssn=davidgoldingart&_sac=1 It's me, or many of them seems to have been done... with the same pen ?

Anyone Else Having Trouble Contacting Spencer Beck?
Ecclectica replied to Cat's topic in Original Comic Art
Search previous topics in the forum, as the subject has already been discussed here (and, if I remember correctly, August is not the best month to get in touch with him) -
It is what I thought too, but since I found just a few minutes ago the original ad for the lot of sketches, I'm a bit confused now seeing the others sketches... https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/three-marker-drawings-on-paper-joe-kubert-80-c-3c141bd8dd I'm not sure we are necessarily in presence of fakes here (there are elements that point to JK style - and the ad mentions autographed programs from the JK school - but they could be forgeries), only very crude drawings which seem to have been done in ten seconds by him for students in practice sessions, in order to teach them something or show them something (like an idea) very quickly. It would be interresting to know, from old students of the school, if JK usually did that kind of sketches in small group practice sessions. I'm more familiar with more refine teaching material from his hand, but...

Promise kept ! Glad to see Jim finished this task. Now, we just have to wait for the coffee table book (for Christmas, I hope !)

Just to show you : a comparision between the panel drawn by Kubert and a picture from 9/11. Kubert used this panel and others two (showing a fire disaster and a flood disaster) to show cases where the help of National Guard is useful. So for me this story was clearly done after 2001. For what says the Kubert estate, I can believe it was maybe published in a Sgt. Rock special for example (even if I've made searches on this ground too and...), but a "prophetic" panel, I can't believe it.

You're welcome, but I only mistook myself... I guess if I was in your situation, I would appreciate every effort, but...

For a few seconds, I told myself that I had already seen this Breyfogle piece, but no... It was only your old post here about it : So as this piece seems to be well stored in my memory, I will at least keep my eyes opened...
