  1. This copy is in the registry and is owned by "vrecaro."
  2. I'm not sold on the size thing because size can vary greatly though a press run.
  3. I've gone through all the copies I can find on Google, eBay, and Heritage archives. The only two I can find are that 9.0 restored that was on eBay and the 9.8 copy that has been posted in this thread. I'd hope that those two are the only ones, but all we can do is keep an eye out for new ones that pop up for sale. Jeff has let CGC know so I hope they can get to the bottom of it. I'd almost guess that someone is altering 3rd prints to pass through as 1st prints. Going by the serial numbers, I'd think they could tell if it's coming from one source. Then again, they might have been altered and sold raw to unsuspecting collectors who in turn submitted them to CGC not knowing what they were. At least now there are more of us armed with information that makes us more aware of what we're buying.
  4. No way to tell a 2nd print from a 1st print without opening the book.
  5. I'll just sit here and wait on everyone to tell me I am right and that I am the man. Foot kissing and groveling is accepted and encouraged.
  6. It's not the only one. Just Google search "TMNT 1 CGC" and you'll get several.
  7. After doing a search on google images, I found more copies of what I've always though to be 3rd prints in cgc slabs without a printing notation. I'm perplexed as to why I'm seeing this. Is it possible there is a variation in the first printing? It has me questioning the method I explained in my prior post. One of the TMNT experts needs to chime in on the topic.
  8. Yes. The book in the CGC case in that auction is a 3rd print. It's mislabeled by CGC.
  9. Look at the little splotch of blood on the sword in the middle T in "turTles." This is a first print. The splotch is black. Now look at the same area on a third print. It has extra splotches and they're red. First and second prints are the same. You can't tell one from the other by looking at the front cover. Third print has these extra splotches which are a tell. You can also tell by the amount of red in the building at the bottom, but this is the easiest sure fire way to tell it.
  10. I knew you'd be along She only collects 9.8s. I buy 9.8s or higher Also, you're funny Dice Pshaw! I only collect 9.9s.
  11. I knew you'd be along She only collects 9.8s.
  12. Can those be slabbed? They need to be in the registry set.
  13. Five year olds everywhere are saving their allowance in anticipation of the sale.
  14. ...and if CGC would use the slab design I sent them about 7 or 8 years ago, SCS wouldn't exist any more.
  15. Most 10.0 are given to Moderns, and the well they use doesn't usually cause this issue. From what I recall, it's the wells they use for older books that have this problem. Steve Borock talked about it here briefly, but was the lesser of all evils since using the Modern wells on the older books would've caused a RIP at the staples instead of simple corner damage. Does anyone remember the thread where a member actually shook the out of slabs and reported results? Entertaining indeed. All 9.9 and 10 books are put into the old style inner wells. The new (modern) well is not used on anything above 9.8, even if it's a modern book.
  16. Is that what the maintenance is that they're doing tomorrow? Putting in the fee based board system?
