  1. I'll be listing a bunch of Mad Magazine type stuff tonight. Most of it will be foreign issues and offshots. UK #1, Canada #1, as well as a lot of Australian Mads. A bunch of the large paperbacks and titles such as Mad XL, Color Classics, Tales Calculated, etc. Most of the books are still in the subscription bags. There will be a few nice regular issues and Super Specials as well. I appreciate you taking time to look through them.
  2. Hey, Arch! This needs to be added to our arsenal! We've not been given new graemlins in forever.
  3. Given more experience with Marvel Chipping through the last few years, I've since changed my opinion. I believe it to be a problem when the books were trimmed by either dull blades or by some method they were using during this period in time. I think it's entirely possible they were using a particular piece of equipment for a portion of the print runs during the era known for Marvel Chipping. This piece of equipment would probably have been an older piece that was being phased out and not worth the expense to repair, and was used to satisfy production as needed. My guess is that the point at which the chipping stopped is when that piece of equipment finally bit the bullet. Anyway, those are my current thoughts on the whole topic.
  4. That is a water or blanket wash drip from when they were starting the press. It gets on the paper and prevents the ink from sticking to it. Production related.
  5. It's Spaghetti-O's night! What else could make a troll leave his cave? Or someone was clop-clop-clop-clopping across his bridge.
  6. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? Thanks for the threatening PM, Harold. You have a sick mind, please seek help. You need an avatar. Use this one.
  7. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? Thanks for the threatening PM, Harold. You have a sick mind, please seek help. See ya in a few days, buddy. I'll bake bread.
  8. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? Thanks for the threatening PM, Harold.
  9. I can assure you that I'll say anything to your face that I've said to you here. Now tell us again why you're the one hiding behind your keyboard. Once again, you play both sides of the coin. You're the least credible person we've had on the boards in a long time. Congratulations on your ineptitude. Come back when you have something of substance and we'll listen to you with more sincerity.
  10. Sounds like we need some serious price fixing. Maybe we can get the government involved. No way this tool is a comic dealer. He's like Luxx without the interesting personality.
  11. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? The weather today will be a little shilly, so don't forget your boots.
  12. This rings a bell... Good catch. It does ring a bell. I posted about TFL being greengob in a PM earlier today, 'the CGC' was quite glaring. But TFL was never that articulate, not that greengob is that articulate. If you know what I mean. Agreed. He's not TFL.
  13. Or like a runway model. It will be purging soon.
  14. That's custom title material if I ever saw it.
  15. Listen, eunuch, and I'll explain the problem... We are sitting here reading business as usual and along comes some guy that has never posted before. The guy seems to have a little knowledge of what he's talking about, but he's talking out of both sides of his mouth. He's saying that people are crazy for paying multiples of the 9.8 price for a comic with a 9.9 or 10.0 grade. Not only that, that people are crazy for paying multiples of guide for a book that's even in a CGC slab. Ok, I think that opinion is shared by many and isn't all that shocking to hear. I don't enjoy emetophilia and I don't normally hang out on their message boards, but maybe I'm a little old fashioned like that. Then he says that a comic printed prior to 1980 should never be graded higher than a 9.8. Again, not that shocking of a claim in and of itself. So now to solidify his knowledge of the hobby and be crowned king of all nerds, he says that he is a big time dealer that sells CGC books, and submits them 500+ at a time to the evil empire in Florida. Who he is doesn't matter and he will remain anonymous, but trust him on this because we all should know to trust anonymous people on the internet. So to recap: People paying multiples for CGC are crazy. People paying higher multiples for 9.9's and 10's are even more crazy. CGC is crazy for giving 9.9's. Give him your crazy money because you're too crazy to deserve it. It doesn't matter who he is. Trust him on this. If he ever submits a Hulk 181 and gets a 9.9, he will call you crazy as he takes your $100k. So carry on, Mr Skidmark. Keep doing what you're doing. I'll enjoy watching your duality and will eat popcorn as you implode. If you're really a dealer you'll be outed in the next few weeks. If you're not outed by this resourceful bunch of comic nerds, you're not who you say you are in the first place. And yes...I have a mouth on me, but I only use it on trolls. Prepare for my mouth.
  16. Thanks for that insight, mister-important-unknown-person. I'll be sure to send a letter to the owner of the CGC 9.9 Hulk 181 and let them know that you have denounced the legitimacy of the grade. I'm sure they'll crack it out and resubmit it post-haste and get their rightful 9.8 grade. Oh wait a minute. Damn the luck. It's time for my nap.
  17. Words make Hulk head hurt...
  18. Here. Allow me to explain it to you... Or to sum it up...
  19. You have obviously never studied economics at a university.
  20. There are tapes that come off easier than others. Try a few different. If not, just cut the tape and put another piece on it. The problem can be eliminated 100%. It should never happen.
  21. Knowing that, why would anyone leave the tape on the bag when they pull the comic out? Anyone that does deserves to have the tape stick to the front of the comic.
  22. My old Microtek x6el legal size scanner uses a standard 3 prong computer cord like the old crt monitors use. Contact me if that is what you need and I will send you one. Nah. It was one of those with an inline power supply and a strange end on it.
  23. I have a 10 year old Microtek scanner that made beautiful slab scans. I think I've lost the power cord though.
