The best way to get rid of garbage books is not to buy them in the first place.  When possible, I find it better to offer more for less. If a person is asking a quarter a book, I'd rather give him $1 a book for twenty percent of his stuff and leave the rest.

One shot kinda deal, one payment deal. Take it all or nada

It all comes down to whether or not the collection has been picked at all.  Are there multiples?

Yes for instance multiples Tec 871s and even 2nd printings. And we’re talking high grades. It’s a pretty complete collection.. can’t say it has a Hulk 377 3rd print .. but it could .. bagged and boarded yes

200 long boxes is what - 50,000 books?  Unless they have been picked over like crazy why didn't you buy them at that price?  Plenty of 80s books where you could get the $50K back in a hurry if most keys are there.

Yes 50-60k comics. I did offer to buy but my offer was declined. The seller is pretty firm on the $50k. In fact he’s hopeful for more. It’s a headache that involves so much. It takes the right buyer for this collection and I know some who are willing. The seller is kind of stubborn. Whoever’s paying 50k has to make more than double on it… anywho his price is essentially $250 a longbox which is retail which no dealer pays for. At that quantity $50 per box is more reasonable but like I said that was turned down

This implies that the buyer and the seller are already connected:

So it is too late to ask either of them for money.  You don't ask for a fee for something that might reasonably be expected to be free.

Some deals involve finders fees.  Most do not.  The deals in which a finders fee was not previously discussed do not change into finder's fee deals after the fact.  That would be like setting a trap.  It's unethical... And annoying.

Huh? It’s like setting two friends up for a date. I know em both. How could they possibly know each other already?

Saw the book in the $3 bin at my local shop when I picked up a bunch of random Batmans.  Saw your post the next day.  When I stopped by again, it had been plucked .:frown:

Buy it or wish you had… but your loss is no big deal.. not an expensive comic. It’s a common 80s DC book that’s only been relevant for a short while. I actually bought a VF/NM copy last December for $3 at a flea market. Sold for $40 in January

  6. Thanks for some comments.. there’s an archived thread from 2010 (wow) about the topic and the general consensus is 10-20% with some citing a percentage over 10% being robbery. I would have to imagine 12 years later and in this trading climate the rate’s gotta be closer to that 20% margin
