  1. A few more Coppers heating up:

Thats :insane: I can't even sell my NM copies in the sales thread (shrug) maybe time to move it to feebay

Along with ASM 300, this is another of the very few books I speculated on. My ship may have finally come in on this one too. lol

You've been ripping on copper books for 12 years. Nice to see you come over to the dark side.

I don't rip on Copper books, just Moderns. IMO, anything after 1990-91 isn't a comic book anymore, but an overpriced mini-TPB.

Fair enough. Although I'd say 1993 and beyond.

  2. Sorry guys, but "Hot Artist" Copper Age books went out with mullets, and it's all about the "First Appearance".

If I was looking for potential breakout books, I would be assembling a list of any character remotely associated with the X-Men, and then seeing where they appeared first. I used to do that, and bought any books on the list (like NM Annual 2) I found in the bargain bins.

Harder to do now, but there must be some diamonds in the rough.

    What's a mullet? :baiting:

  4. I have a stack of them and half of them are wrapped badly, has to be a know issue. The silver 2nd prints and UPC seem to be the way to go as the wrap is perfect on these issues. Could explain the recent premium on these 2.

I picture the wrap becoming a focal point on first printing 9.8's selling for a premium. More often then not, they biffed the wrapage.

  5. This entire market is about greater fools rogering greater fools, while even greater fools are waiting for their turn.

You buy and sell a lot Fingh, what level of fool are you?

I don't buy Copper. I have Copper. I have been buying Copper since I was in the Copper age myself.

The only time I buy Copper and moderns is when I can get it for uber cheap. I have never paid more than a dollar for an X-Factor 6, and I never will. Same with ToTT44, right down the line.

Plus, I spend most of my time creating manufactured collectibles that give Dunbar a thrombo.

But I am definitely a fool. Just not a fool who pays for Copper books.

Word of the day: thrombo. lol

Awesome. I've already called some dikk that cut me off, a thrombo today.

  6. I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

Just because someone suggests a comic may heat for a reason or for no reason doesn't mean that the comic will heat up. If that person does so with some profit driven intent, so what? People aren't allowed to go on anonymous forums and start rumors that might drive up the prices of certain commodities?

Maybe the logic for the reasoning WAS flawed, but with if the price of the comic still went up? Who cares? We are all still free to believe or not believe any person or their reasonings in the same way. I'm not sure this thread needs to 'protect its integrity so stringently', or hold itself to a higher standard of proof.

Aren't most of the people in this thread looking for some way to make some moneys? Some people's method of doing so might be to read the thread, others to post. Sometimes the posts are right, sometimes wrong.

I take this thread to be "What comics do you think are or will heat up on ebay?"

If I say 'Wolverine 100' and leave no explanation is the worst crime ever? What if it was selling for $1 a year ago and is now selling for $3 (huge increase percentagewise!). Have I done everyone a favor, or just wasted everyone's time? What if I don't even have a reason, just noticed the trend? Or what if I know the reason, but don't want to share it because that's how I make my money?

    I agree (thumbs u

    :o
  7. Well if it's annoying then I'll keep doing it! :acclaim:

People here seem to think what they do and say isn't annoying either?

I am not "friends" here with anyone, I don't talk to anyone here, I don't like anyone here. If someone on here knows me, they get my sense of humor. You actually think for one second what I say on the boards is how I am in person?

I am here to make everyone on the board miserable cause these boards are pretty useless and it's filled with overly sensitive basement dwellers who buy SS CGC comics so they can stand in line for 6 hours so they can get a head sketch by the artist they put on a pedestal cause he draws big boobs on Mary Jane / Harley Quinn or some other big breasted female character that isn't real that gets them excited.

How's that? Am I being really annoying now??? Don't like it? Get off the internet and go cry about it.

    You.. are....AWESOME!

  8. It APPEARSthe only shot at making any real money is to dig through those short boxes of 497 and hopefully find a 9.9-10.0 candidate.

Never said anyone was going to get rich off of these and in fact, I'm willing to bet the entire Knightfall run will heat up in a few years. That 25 year mark is coming up, along with the Death Of Superman. Look at how many Batman 428's are out there? I've seen crazier things happen in comics. Even if Batman 497 only hits $80 in a 9.8, it's still worth it. After ebay fees, Paypal fees, if you can make say $40 a book and sell 200 of them, you're doing alright, How'd you like 200 people to put $40 in your hand? I figured as much.

People still buy Spawn 1's for $70-100 each in 9.8's and that had a much bigger print run than the 497 did.

Settle down, spaz. "Appears" doesn't mean definitive. And by your typical defensiveness, it APPEARS you have a lot of money invested in this issue, and want to convince yourself that it was a good decision to buy multiples of it.
  9. 1400 copies in 9.8 is ridiculous. This is a micro bubble. More hype than real demand. More flippers than keepers. Eventually the market will figure it out.

I tend to agree that more flippers own this book than real collectors, and the bubble will burst and down will come flippers, wallet and all.

People have been saying that for years. This book remains the exception to the rule.

  10. The comparison is not between a comic book and an ipad. The comparison is "types of demand." Apple doesn't raise their prices because there's interest. Like I said earlier, the analogy doesn't quite fit, but it's close enough for gov't work.

And you just fell victim to the same argument you decried earlier: "they make a second print because of demand"...that demand isn't for the book as a collectible, it's as a new comic book. Whether there is demand years later for it as a collectible is not the same type of demand, which I conceded was what made the analogy not quite fit.

    So, comic books are good?

    frabz-im-like-so-confused-man-dc9891_zpsab027235.jpg

I want to shave that friggin guy's hair off, every time I see him on tv.

  11. Yeah, they want them because they are suckers!

But the main point is that they are continuously manufactured.

The point was that it's bad for business to raise the price of a comic based on one inquiry being seen as an increase in demand. That is bad business.

I'd never step foot in that shop again. Terrible business practices, yes.
