  1. So should I buy the Masterworks collection, put on some Curtis Mayfield and be prepared for a major nostalgia rush, or will I be disappointed in how dopey the stories seem 40 years later?

..... actually, for full effect one would require the theme song for "Shaft"..... or possibly "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" GOD BLESS...

"...... it was the third of September....."

.... oh, and you'd also need a dashiki.

"Papa was a rolling stone." :cloud9: Great song.

  2. Why is this in the copper section? And why did I discover this thread just now? :D

Probably because when Valiant kicked off production with even its pre-hero line, it was at the tail-end of the Copper Age.

And because over here, we have two turntables and a microphone.

    Where It's At!

That is a good drum break.

  4. It's not a modern book, but close enough. I waited for 6 years for CGC to finally grade a 9.8 of this book, and by the time they did, I think the first copy sold for like $3K. I got this one instead, and now I can rest. :)

WOW! That is F'N awesome! (worship)

Thanks, guys. I feel like I climbed Everest with this book. Now I have to figure out where to go from here.

  5. First off before you open the spoiler to reveal the grade look closely and think about the grade you would give it and post the grade you would give based off of the cover alone.

Trust me even if you opened the book and rays of sunshine sparkled out you'll never think the inside would give it this much of a bump!...

    SHOCKING ISN'T IT???!!!!

There's no possible way it got that grade. Even an eBay amateur wouldn't give it a VF. Well, never mind. Bad example. There has to be a mistake or some tomfoolery going on with this. And as far as the other damaged books are concerned... sorry, man. That really bites.

Do people scan their more expensive books before submitting? Maybe a video of them placing the books into the box for shipping after inspecting it on camera? All in one shot, of course. I would for really expensive books. It's too much of a risk not to.
