I would send it in. Eye appeal counts for a lot, especially in lower grade books. Your copy isn't missing any pieces and looks like it would definitely benefit from a clean and press. The grade will always be in the 2.0 range given the defects, but it will be a great looking 2.0 which makes all the difference on the market.

Definitely worth a clean and press. No way this book scores lower than 5.5 unless there is water staining or other unseen damage.
-
Looks 6.0 as is. Might get as high as 7.0 with a C&P. Beautiful copy!

3.5 - 4.0 with a C&P. Great book in any grade!

I think this book could definitely benefit from a press as long as it isn't brittle. If it were mine, I would submit it to CCS. A book like this always gets a thorough review before a C&P. If they are not comfortable pressing it, the book will be passed on to CGC and graded in its current state. A while back, I submitted a JIM 83 that CCS rejected for pressing due to fragility concerns. Your book is in far better shape than mine but my point is, you wouldn't be risking much by trying for a C&P. Just my 2 cents.

That is quite a find! If the condition of your Avengers 1 is anything to go by, you should be pretty happy with the grades that will be coming your way. This book appears to be an excellent survivor with bright colors and only a little spine wear. The only really noticeable issue is the page tanning. As long as the pages aren’t brittle, it certainly looks like a great candidate for a Clean and Press (C&P). After pressing. I’d guess a grade of 6.0-6.5. Congrats! What else did you find in your Uncle’s stash??😁

7.0-7.5 with a C&P.

1.0 sadly. There are supposedly some techniques for treating brittle paper that restores suppleness and flexibility. Might be worth asking a pro.

Your book is an excellent candidate for a C&P. you will definitely get a multiple grade bump if the job is done by a pro. Worth the time and money to make sure it’s done properly. As is it’s a 3.5 but with a good C&P it would grade significantly higher. Thanks for posting.

Wow. A Beauty! 8.0 IMHO. Thanks for posting.

Really nice copy. Agree with @grebal about possible trimming along outside edge. If the book checks out, I'd say 7.0-8.0 range with a really pro C&P. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Book! With a really pro C&P, I think this book could reach 6.0. Colors are bright and most of the defects look pressable. I have a few silver age books that graded in the 5.0-5.5 range and they look less attractive than this book (assuming the C&P is done well). Thanks for sharing.

I think you have a shot at a 1.0 with a clean and press. The book will certainly gain in eye appeal either way and should look great in a slab. If properly pressed, and considering the lack of really severe defects to the front cover, CGC my feel generous and bump up the grade. Thanks for posting.

Congrats! Beautiful Book.

Todd signed my book today. Hopefully the handlers didn’t damage my 9.8. 🤞😆
How do you know he signed it today? Just curious because I have 6 books waiting to be signed…😁.

Looks like cover is detached at bottom staple. 2.0 with a C&P.
-
If the cover is still attached and the book is complete, I don't see how this could grade lower than a 2.0 with a really good clean & press. I don't see any pieces out of the front or back covers and from the pics, the book looks like it is strong enough to go through a C&P just fine. I'd send it to an independent pro. Its a little more money but could be well worth the result. Just my 2 cents...

7.5 - 8.0 with a really thorough clean and press. Nice book. Thanks for sharing.

A lot has to do with whoever does the C&P.
Totally agree with @joeypost. If the OP is willing to spend a little more time and money, an independent C&P pro would be the best way to go with this book. Nothing wrong with CCS but, in my opinion, they don't always spend a lot of time on a book.

If not for the popped staple, this book could potentially press out to a 2.5-3.0 (with a really pro Clean & Press). Most of the wrinkling/creasing appears to be non color breaking. The spine roll will come out during pressing. Unfortunately, the pulled staple will bring it down to a 1.8-2.0 (with a C&P). A pro might be able to reattach the bottom staple but no guarantees. As is it’s a 1.0-1.5 book. Thanks for sharing.

If the cover is still attached (it looks like it is) and the book is complete, this should grade somewhere between a 2.0-3.0. with a really good cleaning and pressing.
GRADE IS IN! PGM Incredible Hulk # 180
in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?

Congrats! Please post a pic of the slab when you receive it. Very curious to see the results of the clean & press.
