I'll let you know what happens with me. I subbed a 9.4 SS for a press and re-grade. It is in Grading/Quality control right now (Submission Tracking still says it is an SS). I should get results tomorrow.

I'm a masculine man and all but I have to say, they are super cute! looks like little tiny graded CGC comics! 

All they need now is to start grading video games. Give Wata some more competition

I’m a huge fan of the Tag & Bink short series and I know a lot of other people are too. And it surprises me that there are so few graded copies out there. Issue 1 has 6 in 9.8

Issue 2 has 3 in 9.8

Issue 1 (from series 2) has 4 in 9.8

Issue 2 (from series 2) has 7 in 9.8

Today, I finally got my unicorn back from CGC, issue 2. This issue is super difficult to find in high grade due to the cover. The one I got actually had a spine roll but no color breaking stress marks so I sent it in to CCS for a press and I got the third 9.8!

(I didn’t get issue 2 from the second series because I wanted just the books that cover the original trilogy.)

I believe this is the first photo ever of these books in 9.8 together

They did not say damage would occur. You are assuming that is why they rejected it. They just outright rejected it with no explanation.

Other boardies have expressed that after clearing a prescreen, the following press resulted in damage and CCS compensated them for the book.

You got it wrong.

They never told me it would be detrimental to the book. All they did was reject it with no reason. I want a reason.

if they tell me it would be detrimental to the book, I would NOT press it. But I would have them pass it next door to be regraded.

if they tell me it would make no difference if I press or not, I will still press.

Because I want to believe that there could still be a small chance that the book will actually improve just a tiny bit as to cause a grade bump. That is a risk I was willing to take.

either the book may get damaged or it would not improve with a press. Personally, I’d take their advice. Look for a better copy.

You proved my point. if the “book may get damaged”, I wouldn’t get it pressed. But, if it was, as you said “would not improve with a press” then I would still get it pressed.... or at the very least move it to CGC for regrading which is what I ordered anyway (a press and regrade)

-As an aside, I am now worried that they won’t be sending me my book back in the condition I sent it to them. Do they de-slab a book before the prescreen? It was a Signature Series book

I did inquire and I got a response with no new information. 

I’ve heard people say that getting a prescreen is like insurance. If CCS says it is good, but something bad happens during the press, it’s on them. That is why I got it. 

but if they say it is not good I would want to know why and then make the decision to go ahead or not. Then, it would be on me.

if they believe that if the book gets pressed and it will look the same as it did before the press, then I would go ahead with the press because there could still be a slight change the book would grade higher.

if they believe that the book would get damaged from a press then, yes, I would listen to that advice.

I assumed they would accept it because it was a 9.4 modern book with non color breaking creases. If I had known that I risk them sending me the book back without any option to move forward, I would not have selected the prescreen service

I submitted a graded book where the graders notes mention non color breaking creases. I sent it to CCS with a prescreen option. They told me that they recommend not pressing and are sending me back my book. They won’t give me the option to continue with the pressing, which is what I want to do. They also won’t tell me why it was being rejected. It is annoying that my only option is to resubmit it once it gets back to me.

For very important books, I always ship next day USPS Express. The post office puts the Express shipment in separate containers thus helping ensure the book arrives safely

I had to fight for the inclusion of the notation. My guess is someone would need to submit Marvel Premier 19 and also fight to get it included. It should work since Daredevil 115 has now set the precedent. Good luck!

So it looks like newer slabs of Daredevil 115 now say “ad for Incredible Hulk 181 page 10” in the notation section. You’re welcome!

(I got the ball rolling last year with my slabbed ad page, which I feel bad for getting mad at the time because the notation doesn’t make sense for a slabbed page but it does make sense for  the slabbed book)

I'm sure they will tell us once they have a plan in place. I probably wouldn't send any more books in though.

I received word that they will be opening submissions from March 30th but not any after that

I got a book arriving at CGC’s PO Box tomorrow at 3. I was told they will receive it, but probably won’t get to open it up

Word on the street is that CGC will open packages from March 30th and then stop. 

is CCS pressing at capacity during this COVID-19 time? Was thinking of submitting a book but not sure if I should just wait.

I slabbed the page for the 181 ad, not the letters (the letters on DD 111 was just a happy coincidence). But, yes, it is a little weird and I love it!
