  1. Me either lol. That's a beautiful copy nonetheless!
  2. That's incredible, I'm stoked for you!! I'd love to see how good one of his file copies is. I had to do a triple take when I saw that as a reward tier. I got on about a half hour after launch, and those bad boys were long gone. I think I used up all my Kickstarter mojo managing to snag an Eric Powell art commission slot in the one he just launched 😆
  3. This is my stance as well. I've seen 9.8's (from CGC as well as they who shall not be named) in this state or a touch worse that landed in the right hands on grading day...but I've also seen very tightly graded 9.4's/9.6's that could beat it out if all the books were cracked and resubbed.
  4. All depends on the timing, targets, and intent as to the level of impact. You could easily manipulate the markets of some high-visibility keys for less, or dilute your impact over time if going by your approach of well timed, well diversified choices. Ultimately, the exact absolute dollar figure necessary matters less than that the number needed is only a tiny fraction of what's on the sidelines ready to invest/speculate. I don't know exactly what that magic number is, but it has found its way into the hobby on the high end to go along with more cash inflows on the entry levels, too (for reasons others have already discussed). It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out, as I have no idea what the ending will look like. You're spot on regarding equilibrium point, but I don't know what that new equilibrium is- as much as we talk about "comics" as a while, it'd really be unique for each title. Grab the popcorn and we'll see how it goes! 👍
  5. My two cents is there's additional buying pressure coming from the top end of the market, in no small part due to asset reallocation (multiple drivers there-inflation hedge, strong historical returns of key issues, etc) There were trillions of dollars on the sidelines before the massive stock run up and extra dollars got put in circulation. There's more now. If a miniscule fraction of that made its way into comics- even just $5 million- it could not be invested without moving the markets materially. As comic collectors, we've been trained that a book having a few hundred copies above 9.0 makes it common and that it's a risk to long term value preservation. But, the reality is, our hobby isn't valued all that highly from a market capitalization view vs others. That's why a drop out of the massive bucket of capital waiting to be invested feels like a tidal wave of new money hitting us. The concern amongst those buyers now isn't whether a book is too liquid; it's whether it's liquid enough. Can you get copies if you want them? Thats why common books have seen such a bull run IMO.
  6. Same. I'm a novice on here compared to most, and that was just my gut call rather than a data-driven estimate. I'm curious to see what those more familiar with that market think it can hit
  7. Probably lol. I'm surprised it made it to the listing phase!
  8. Good luck with sale, thats a really good price. Early Dawn work isn't easy to come by.
  9. I'm just splitting hairs at this point but, functionally speaking, the seller pays both their own fees and the "buyer's" premium. Calling it that is really a misnomer on Heritage's part IMO. *That is, unless the seller is a big enough fish that they can negotiate better terms. Example: a page hammers at $1k. It becomes $1.2k with BP. Heritage doesn't start the seller's gross proceeds at the $1.2k- it starts at the $1k prior to their selling fee being deducted. As a seller, I've already lost two hundred bucks of the actual proceeds of the auction before any of my own fees are calculated. If my selling fee rate is 20%, I'm netting $800 off of a $1200 sale (excluding taxes and shipping). My "20% seller's fee" actually results in me receiving 2/3 of the proceeds from the auction.
  10. Sorry to hear it. I've had terrible luck with that, as well. Don't know if it's a systemic thing or what, but for one reason or another, I can't count on it.
  11. Strong results pretty much across the board from what I've seen. I think whoever landed that Neal Adams Strange Adventures cover for $24k made out well, as did the buyer who landed the Olivia Harley Quinn cover for $9.6k. I'd like to see what happens the next time a Sandman cover gets listed.
  12. OK, so technically not comic art, but given how hard it is to find any Avatar: The Last Airbender published work, I'll take what I can get! From the Avatar: Legacy book:
  13. Good times! I still remember renting Clay Fighters for Super Nintendo when I was a kid 😆
  14. Love it, great page. Congrats! I wish I hadn't got outgunned on the page you sold to help fund this
  15. In the barren desert of Calvin & Hobbes material, there's a lot of very thirsty hunters. Offer up a couple glasses of water every now and then, and they'll sell for their weight in gold. I'm sure some more experienced collectors can chime in, but to me, C&H original material is the single biggest supply/demand imbalance of the last 40 years. It's so skewed. There's just nothing out there, so even lithos go insane.
  16. That really sucks. I hope it works out for you. I can understand a platform wanting to be buyer-friendly, but that's an insane loophole to abuse sellers with if that's how it shakes out.
