  1. Got my preorder today - it is just as gorgeous in-hand as I expected it would be!
  2. Couple more eBay lot buys. First, this one was a little more than I typically like to pay for a lot, but I really wanted the Batman 1 and the Flashpoint 1 3rd print. Paid an average of about $3.30 a book all in: And this one was an odd little Avengers/X-men/etc. lot - paid an average of about 76 cents per book all-in for this one:
  3. Thanks - is it weird that the rest of the blues seem to have come through just fine? Is it possible for a small obstruction to get on the plate that would only affect a specific area like that? I'm not well-versed in the printing process (shameful since I used to work for a daily newspaper 20 years ago...).
  4. Not really sure what is going on with this one - if anyone has any insights, I'd love to hear them! The blue color is missing from the bottom of the "N" in "Batman." It's not removed in any way, it definitely looks like it was printed this way. It just seems really weird that it just stops the way it does.
  5. Got a bunch of Bats (and one of that fish-fella). First, some great books from @SOLAR BOY's recent sale: And then I got this kind of weird little lot on eBay:
  6. It's odd for me - my views are way down too, but between May 27-June 5 (so just over one full week), I sold 15 books. That may not sound like a lot to some, but I'm a low-volume hobby seller - I usually have between 45-60 books listed at a given time. I don't have big books; my average cost per sale is probably in the $15-20 range. But I still wonder if something is going on with views - I had a couple of books where it would say like 5 views but it would sell. I do promote pretty much all of my listings through the "promoted listing" service eBay provides.
  7. Oh sweet! The art is so great - you see so many details the more you look. Hope you like it!
  8. Funny, I have that Steel book and also found it at a flea market for $1.
  9. Bought 2 books in Unknown Comics' BOGO sale. They packed very securely in a Gemini with bubble wrap, but the Gemini was absolutely crunched in the mail somehow, which really sucks. The Die!namite 2 Red Sonja Puppeteer Lee cover suffered an unfortunate lower left corner crunch. It was my intention to keep that one anyway to go with my Puppeteer Lee Die!namite 1 Vampirella cover, so I can live with it (if I don't look too closely). I had thought about selling the New Mutants 25 Chew cover, and luckily it's somehow completely unscathed - the Sonja was sitting lower in the Gemini and took the brunt. But man, it looks so good in person it might be a keeper too...
  10. Just wanted to say thanks for the tip - found some nice gems recently from a couple of UK LCS's as well as some international sellers. I also hit on a couple of great lots recently from US sellers on eBay - once again, a ton of hunting and a ton of research, but I think I have some nice stuff on the way. A lot of it is scheduled to come in this week in the mail, I'll share once I get everything in. One thing is that I'm happy I finally will have all 7 issues of the first run of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - I know it's only 7 issues, but I was determined to finish it in decent grades on the cheap and it looks like I got it done, thanks to a mix of UK and US sellers!
  11. That makes sense, I can see the logic there. So 457 is basically his first “official” appearance as Robin.
  12. Aside from the fact that Tim Drake has potentially one of the lowest valued first appearances in comics (maybe the lowest?) for a long-term, arguably key character in a comics universe - I've gotten nice raw copies of Batman 436 for as little as $3 - why is his first appearance as Robin so convoluted? The consensus is that Batman 457 is his first appearance as Robin, but he's on the cover of Batman 442 as Robin. Spoilers from 1989 ahead I guess: Yes, I've read the books, and he dons the costume in 442, and goes to rescue Batman and Nightwing as Robin. Is it just because Batman rejects him as Robin at first in 442?
  13. Since this thread is currently jacked, and staying on the topic of 'Tec and Bats - I just won a Detective 400 6.0 on eBay for what I think is a really fair price. I'm pumped! Get to check another big Bat book off my list - still have to get Bats 121, 155, 171, 232 and 234 (and probably 227 at some point) - but all in due time! I'll share pics when it's in hand, hopefully this coming week, but I was too excited to wait to share! Ok, back to Coppers heating up - I hear Sleepwalker is a good investment...
