  1. Found this one for $20. I don't even collect Four Color, but it looked like such a pretty copy for such an old book that I felt like I couldn't pass on it. The colors really pop in person.
  2. Won a mixed New 52 lot on eBay for $40. The listing itself made no mention that they were all newsstands, but luckily there were lots of photos. Plenty of condition issues, but there are a couple in decent shape - the Batman 1 isn't too bad, and it seemed like the lot was well worth it for that book alone. I also picked this up elsewhere for $2:
  3. I'm sure these will get mixed reactions, but I just had to have them - Tom King "April Fool's Variants" for Batman 134 and Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing 7
  4. Picked up a bunch of stuff from various places, including here on the boards (thanks @nicka!), eBay and more. Nice little surprise on the inside cover of this Daredevil: Gang War TPB 1st print:
  5. The 2nd prints (non ratios) are still available for pre-order, but it looks like the spoiler variants are fairing very well, and the cover A is climbing. The Gomez and Ross variants are slower, but still going up...
  6. Well if someone tells you, share with all of us - do! For I like to accrue newfound knowledge, it's true. I've amassed quite a slew, but each day is anew, and new info's a coup that binds us like glue.
  7. Looks like the MCS one isn't slabbed, it's a raw 7.5. Someone has a raw copy listed on eBay, calling it a 9.4, for $450. There are only 8 on the census: 2 Universal 9.8s, 1 Signature Series 9.8, 1 Universal 9.6, 1 Signature Series 9.6, and 1 each of Universal 9.4, 9.2 and 9.0. As for what it's worth, it's hard to say with no recent realized sales to go off of. Based on the raw listings on eBay and MCS, I guess it'd be worth somewhere between $250-$450, but it'll probably come down to finding the right buyer and what they're willing to pay.
  8. Well, they graded literally just the "No. 1" box cut off an Action 1 cover - and it sold for 7 grand... So that's pretty small. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/10007/action-comics-1/
  9. If you aren't already aware, below is an example of a book with color touch removed. It's my book, and I bought it already graded like this. I knew what it was going in (and posted pics here to confirm), and I'm personally 100% happy with the book and the purchase - it's in my long-term personal collection. But just be aware of what it looks like so you can decide if you'd rather look at your book as it is now with a purple label in the plastic, or as it could be, with a blue label but with marks and scrapes from literally using what amounts to a dental hook to scrape parts of the paper off of the spine/cover/wherever the color touch is on your book. ]
  10. I prefer "AMZNG SPDR-MN" - it's much easier to understand.
  11. Found a couple final issue newsies this week:
  12. Digging in the back-issue bins on vacation on Florida:
  13. Between travel for work and travel for family vacation, I feel like I've been gone for a month! Got a chance to pop into one comic shop in Ormond Beach while on vacation, found a few things digging in the back issues for some nice prices:
  14. Luckily nothing too crazy for me - my biggest regrets are buying a DC Comics Presents 9.0 for $475 at the height of the hype, and a 9.2 TMNT 1 4th print for $275. I also threw in a best offer of $150 on an ASM 347 9.6 that got accepted (had a couple of drinks and was bored on eBay, not a good combo). And I bought in heavy on Stray Dogs, including paying $175 for a #1 9.8. All of these have gone down quite a bit since the boom days of the past couple of years. Most of the books I've overpaid for (or more accurately: lost value on) have been graded books, but those 4 are my worst. Stuff like the Batman keys have mostly held their value close to what I paid for them, and the Silver Age books are long-term holds anyway.
  15. World's Finest Comics #245 https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/World's_Finest_Vol_1_245
  16. 51, 52, 53, 55 and 58. Some of the tougher ones to find in decent grades with those black covers. They're out there, especially on eBay, but I like to run across them in the wild or on sales threads, or find deals where possible - that's been part of the most fun in finding the run! I completed the Tales 1-7 run that way too for the most part (for example, I got Tales #4 in a lot buy on eBay that was a mixed TMNT lot, and I found 2 copies of Tales #6 in a random box at an LCS for $10 each).
