  1. Yeah, I mentioned the "light finger bends" a while back after my other ASM 300s came back 5.5s and no one agreed with me that CGC was getting tougher. I honestly think they want to force us to press every book OR ELSE. I sold both of those ASM 300s but probably shouldve cracked, pressed and re subbed because they were beautiful copies looking with the naked eye.
  2. I would NEED to get that re-slabbed. I couldn't stand looking at it. OCD As for the books being crooked in the slab, i believe it has to do with the newest strategy to end newton rings and get rid of the scuffing. The.books now have room to slide around in there. You can tap it back straight but I also believe this is causing a new problem. Books are bending, possibly from being shaken during shipping. Ive returned three slabs to. Ebay sellers in the past month because the books were literally bent in the slab. They were all graded in 2021.
  3. Its not too hard to figure out. Convincing young people they should be able to live comfortably on one - full time - retail/restaurant job isnt do them any favors. It's just not possible, never was.
  4. Is it...smiling? And is there a ASM300 homage cover?
  5. Go to Fed Ex and get some medium size boxes. I'm pretty sure they're free to take. They should fit inside perfectly.
  6. 9 months to make a baby. 9 months to press a book. 😆
  7. Ahhhhhhh...a stiff board evey 25 or so comics sounds like the winner.
  8. I may try that technique. It's not spine roll that's happening to mine though. It's very light bending of the spines that I'm dealing with.
  9. 😆 I actually pictured a spare room without furniture but with waist high stacks of comics set up like a corn maze.
  10. In stacks? Do you use long boxes and just stand the boxes on end instead of laying the boxes down down?
  11. I recently took my raw collection out of long boxes because someone gave me a few beautiful wooden file cabinets. I noticed many books had light spine bends. Nothing serious, no color breaks but still bothersome. They are all bagged and boarded. They weren't laying back or leaning forward. I use bookends to keep them standing as straight as possible and I don't pack them too tight. The boxes were not stacked on top of each other. Is this just unavoidable? Do I blame gravity? Should they lean back in the box as opposed to standing straight? Is there a way to keep the spines clean of bends?
  12. I don't care how many worthless books anyone sends in. I'm just stating facts. CGC was created to slab valuable books. What's happened in the last few years was not in the plans. Isn't that obvious just looking at the TAT?
  13. This is a question about pressing comics, not about getting comics pressed.
  14. Curious because I have 3 books received at CCS on 8/18.
  15. Sunlight really is a beast. I have a double sided book case that holds my dvd collection. One side faces a window. Even though I hardly ever open the blinds, the dvds on the window side are all faded. Anyway, my slabs stay in the darkness unless I wanna look at them or show them off.
  16. I just did my first ever cross grade. It was a cbcs 9.8 Killing Joke and it came back a CGC 9.8. I know everyone says it gets graded blind, meaning the grader doesnt know its a cross grade and doesnt know the previous grade but I have my doubts. I wouldnt try to make a living off of cross grading books but im 1 for 1.
  17. If you know you're gonna wanna sell a large run or a complete collection in the future, list it now at a way too high price. No one will buy it but it'll be out there for all to see. The folks who do want it will "watch" it and you can collect watchers until your actually ready to sell. Then you send out offers and wait for counter offers and take it from there.
  18. Meh, just open a new credit card and buy EVERYTHING ! I may end up living in a storage unit full of comic books but Ill have plenty of reading to keep me busy.
  19. Pandemic! Supply chain! No one's fault! Those are the excuses but anyone paying attention knows what's going on. I went to KFC last Saturday. The door was locked and there was a mile long line at the drive through. They had to keep the door locked because only 2 people showed up to work. The gas station I go to has help needed signs in the window. $14.00 to start...to work the cash register. No one wants to work anymore.
  20. I wasnt quick enough to get in cheap on any of the MZ books but I did get UFF22 / cgc 9.8 at great price because the slab was cracked. Its off getting a new slab so im really hoping to get it back in 9.8 condition.
  21. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand right on cue I get a message about a private signing. Because who wouldnt want CORONA scribbled on their books? smh
  22. Oh come on now! You can't tell me no one in QC or shipping noticed this. I'm starting to suspect sabotage from within the ranks. That or they've hired some barely capable human beings lately.
  23. Oh, okay, that's cool. I'm gonna check that out.
