  1. Hi all, I just had A 60 book Modern shipment arrive at CGC headquarters and the lot is now “Scheduled for Grading”. Current turnaround times for this tier, working days, is 178 days. Reading posts and watching YouTube videos, a few folks commented that they received their books back in a fraction of the time, less than what was stated. Curious if anyone has also experienced a shorter than expected turnarounda.
  2. One very small color break, 9.4 to 9.6 from what I can see
  3. Thank you FB. Yeah when I looked at the front, I was thinking at least a 5.0 after a clean and press. Most of the "stuff" on the cover looks cleanable with a dry clean. Then I looked at the back...just about killed me.
  4. Hi all, actually not my copy but a good friend of mine. We are going to have Avery Comics do a clean and press. Thank you in advance. Just noticed that there was a shadow in some of the pics, lower part.
  5. I took a picture of all that granite I was talking about. I would have gone with plywood and bought some silver age Marvel if it was my choice
  6. Damn, its sucks because these copies, I bought four of them for $25 total, are just perfect Well except for the ink transfer and color rub. They even have that mint copy sound when you hold the book and flap it back and forth. Just glossy as heck too. I really want to send them to CGC but dunno. First appearance of Darkstar, thought she was a cool character as a kid. Would you guys send them out to CGC? I think they are worth it. Looked on Ebay and most copies look like someone found them in a landfill.
  7. Lol, thanks, I need these to come back as 9.8's so I can pay for it. The granite was roughly the cost of a 9.4 FF #49, much rather have the FF#49 but the wife doesn't appreciate Galactus like we all do
  8. Hey Zeg, do you think the press still helps? I use Avery Comics and he does both for $10 a book. I bought 65 of these, was hoping for 9.6 at least
  9. Many thanks in advance. Looking to do a clean and press with Avery Comic Pressing
  10. Many thanks in advance. Looking to do a clean and press with Avery Comic Pressing
  11. My pressing guy I have to call if it is over 20 books as he sends them off to CGC. Easier that way I'll send it 20, we will see what comes of it
  12. Gotcha, the reason for the graders notes as it’s a shared process the grading.
  13. Yeah I’m definitely over thinking this. All for resale, maybe I’ll keep a copy for nostalgia sake 😊
  14. Hi all, Maybe its the fact that Halloween is right around the corner and I'm being superstitious. That or its some OCD issue that I have. I have a question on submitting a large batch of the same issue. Last fall I purchased 80 copies of Alpha Flight #1 in an online auction. They looked good from the photos but up close even better, 9.6 or 9.8 copies, never read or circulated guessing from a comic book shop liquidation as they were all bagged and boarded. Plus when you go to open the cover on one of the copies its as if it hadn't been opened before. I'm sending them off to be cleaned and pressed as well hopefully landing higher grades as they go to CGC eventually. My conundrum is this, I usually do 20 books to a modern tier submission. My fear is the subjective nature of grading. I know there are CGC guidelines as to what constitutes a 9.8 versus a 9.2 for example. However reading the forums there seems to some leeway where the grader's subjective nature also figures in. Just like a teacher or referee, there are harder ones and there are easier ones. With that I'm thinking of sprinkling in say 5 copies to a 20 book modern submission, 15 of the books being other titles or non-Alpha Flight #1. My concern is that I send in say 20 copies of the same issue and get someone that is a bit more critical, well I might not fair so well. There again I might get the opposite and be pleasantly surprised. Just curious if anyone else puts as much thought into submitting multiple issues of the same copy. I'm most likely over thinking this but I wanted to check.
  15. Beautiful copy of ASM 129. I'd have the press done for sure. Say its a 9.4 as it sits and comes back as a 9.6 (totally get the idea that a 9.4/9.6 can depend on the grader), if that scenario comes true, last CGC sales of a 9.4 was $5,760 (9/12/21 on Heritage) with the last 9.6 was $8,850 (9/13/21 on Ebay). Or say its close to a 9.4 consensus without a press and you send it in and it comes back as a 9.2, last sale I see is $4,800 (8/14/21 on Ebay). The cost of having it cleaned and pressed is like purchasing insurance in my opinion, it may not be needed but making a small investment, $10 to $20, could yield larger returns.
  16. Please grade my book, thank you 😊
