  1. Well, apparently its up the grader and the notes are "not required" and "vary from grader to grader". I'm guessing where CGC turnaround times are growing exponentially that to move items through the process they might be spending less time in areas such as grader's notes. From Customer Service, "Grader Notes are made at the graders' discretion; they are not a guaranteed part of the service but are provided as a courtesy to paid members and dealers when available. Often, they may not be entirely comprehensive or give a 100% accurate description of the defects and the notes vary from grader to grader. Multiple professionals examine every collectible to ensure accuracy and consistency. I am sorry that no grader notes were taken on your item. The grader notes are not required nor a guaranteed part of the grading service. Since no notes were taken by the grading team, there is no further information I can provide to you regarding the grade of your item. I apologize for any inconvenience. Frustrating as I've looked at a few of the books and I cannot find an issue or difference between a 9.0 and 9.6 of the same issue. Would be nice to get some feedback, especially paying $20 a book plus the wait time included.
  2. Hi all, Newbie here. Just received my first submission back from CGC. Good news, all items were a 9.0 or higher except for one. The one that came back as an 8.0 had notes, however that was the only one. If it rates a 9.0 or higher is the assumption that it falls in a somewhat exclusive club and doesn't need or require a grader note?
  3. Wow, if that "Newton" post was any closer it would have bitten me Thanks for the clarification everyone, much appreciated. P.S. I get that its a "thing" in the CGC world, plastic on plastic, but honestly either someone is having an item slabbed for presentation or resale and this would be an issue for me. Not sure how that is ok with QA and it gets sent along. Good news is that it was the only one of the 24 I got back.
  4. Hi all, Received my first submission of book back and I see that there is something odd with the slab. I thought moisture at first, no clue. If you press where the discoloration is it moves somewhat. I didn't see it on any of the other books. I do live in Maine so maybe riding in the postal van caused this as the cold weather may be the culprit?
  5. I think you need a membership possibly. I click the link and it doesn't show me anything. I'm also accessing it from Go Collect so that may have a reason why.
  6. I guess it makes sense where you have such a low rate of 9.8's that the cost would be so high. Supply and demand I attached a pic where you can see the sales of the 9.8 at Go Collect as well as a user asking $1,050 for a 9.8 copy on Ebay. I really need to get that copy graded
  7. Hi William, Funny story about that issue and what I submitted. I purchased from an auction issues 1 to 86 of the 1988 Wolverine series. They were all high grade near mint issues. When I made the submission I thought the same thing, take a chance on getting a 9.8 on the one issue that has such a low ration of 9.8's. Out of 105 submissions to CGC to date there are only 10 9.8's total. Pretty low ratio for for a book from 1990. The only problem is that I picked the wrong issue. I chose issue 37 while the actual issue is 35 that has the low 9.8 ratio. The two covers have Lade Deathstrike and are almost reversed mirror images of one another (I attached a pic). For comparison, the issue 37 has 61 submissions to the CGC and 45 are 9.8 grades to date, almost a 75% chance of a 9.8 for every submission. Compare that to issue 35, which is about a 10% chance of a 9.8. I'll definitely remember to add issue 35 to the next submission and cross my fingers
  8. A timeline of my first submission for all folks that are new to the process. I want to mention that this is not to come across as a passive aggressive post against CGC, just documenting the experience for others. - 24 "Modern" books sent to CGC on 11/23/20 for grading only (shipped from Maine to Florida, arrived on 11/30/20) - The shipment was "received" by the CGC on 12/8/20 (7 days from shipment physically being delivered to logging the shipment to the CGC database) - The status was changed from "received" to "scheduled for grading" on 1/18/21. (28 business days, excluding holidays) - The status was changed from "scheduled for grading" to "grading/quality assurance" on 1/26/21 (7 days from being scheduled to grading) I'll send along another update once they are graded.
  9. Hi all, Newbie here with a question for you all. Generally what is the time table from being notified that your books are "Scheduled for Grading" and actually seeing the grades? I just was curious to see what others have noticed when getting the initial notice to when it was completed. My submission was 24 books and they are all Modern, running from 1991 to 2008, mostly Marvel, some DC. I was notified last Monday the 18th that they were in the new queue. Thank you in advance. Newbie
  10. Hi all, Newbie here waiting on his first 25 book submission. Its been in "Scheduled for Grading" since Monday (maybe before that but that is when I first noticed) so I'm thinking maybe this week I learn that they are graded. Question for the community, do you wait until you receive your books to look at the grades or do you login and view your submissions once graded. I'm here in Maine so I don't think I can wait multiple days for a package from Florida. Definitely going to test the will power.
  11. Hi Joey, for ink transfers, would you recommend any specific type of material or product to dry clean the back of the book.
  12. I think I just went to school, thank you James 😉 Dumb question, is there any option here to clean what is seen on the back cover or would it be best to just press and call it a day.
  13. Hi all, Newbie here with a question on what type of stain is on the back cover of my X-Men 107 and can it be removed. I've seen Youtube videos where folks use magic eraser and absorbine? to remove dirt. Not sure where I'd start with the attached photo though, or if there is even an option. Thank you in advance. I attached the front just so you can see the whole book.
  14. Thank you AoD. I'm really new to the cleaning and pressing (I think I'll let CCS do quick presses). In your opinion, what would you say that is, and would you think any of the tricks, absorbine, magic eraser, etc have any positive effect?
  15. Hi all, Nice copy of X-Men 107. Worried about the foxing, if that is what it is right on the back cover? Can that be fixed? Thank you for taking a look.
