  1. Driving back to my home, four hour drive, book is strongly secured in the trunk. I’ll add some pics later on. I was just curious, say if the rest of the book is without flaw what kind of hit would the book take for something like this. Thanks
  2. Just curious what the consensus would be with respect to this book’s post press potential ?
  3. Long story short I was doing a major cleaning of my parents garage and I found a stack of books I wrote off as lost 10-15 years ago. The prize of this find was New Mutants 98. And the best part was it looked insanely good. But then I saw it, and I missed it because I hadn’t ever seen this type of flaw before. I’m heartbroken because I legit thought I had a 9.8 candidate. See the pic below and tell how badly I get dinged for this
  4. Just thought I share this because my mind is blown right now. Ordered a Christopher Spider-Man 1 Negative Color Variant. Book looked NM+ in pics and it probably was before he packaged it. Never seen this before. This guy didn’t use a bag and board. He had a backing board with two individuals pieces of Mylar taped together to form a makeshift bag. Of course during shipping the book slips through, jacks up both corners and much of the spine and has tape stuck to both ends. I don’t think I have ever seen a book packed so carelessly.
  5. I’m truly a newb when it comes to restorations. But I was looking through eBay for graded copies of X-Men 266 and one copy for sale appeared trimmed to me. The “Uncanny X-Men” Dress is right up against the top of the book and some of it is slight cut off. My raw copy and every copy I have ever seen has about a 1/4 inch space between the top of the book and the “Uncanny X-men”. Is this just an manufacturing flaw? Two pics attached. One from the book in question and the second is my raw copy. thanks
  6. Hi I feel like the company should encourage graders to leave more bits if not make it mandatory. please look at this thread: I submitted two books, same issue, one came back 9.8 and one 9.6. Thing is when I posted the CGC images I received everyone guessed that the 9.6 was the 9.8 . I have no problem receiving a 9.6 in fact I thought both books could have gone either way but what I would like is notes explaining why one was 9.8 and one was 9.6
  7. Do we think it’s likely the same person graded these two books? If so, I can’t really understand why this person wouldn’t feel the need to leave a grade note. They are grading identical books in very similar condition, it seems to me like this might be a scenario that would warrant a note that would explain the grading difference
  8. So what are the odds, in anyone’s estimation, that if I submit the 9.8 out to this Scott’s Collectables CGC signing with Jimenez/Tynion that it comes back 9.8? 50/50? Maybe I should send the 9.6 and hope I get the 9.8? Lol ill update this thread if I do
  9. Just about Everyone was wrong I didn’t mess with the pics and feel free to check the registry In the end, and I’m not a seasoned grader by any means, I went over these pretty well before submission and thought they would grade the same and I’d just like to have notes so I can understand the difference
  10. So I’m not complaining here but I’m a bit confused. When I sent these in I expected that they would get the exact same grade. Be it 9.6 or 9.8 As they both are very clean copies of the exact same book. Also they both have the same imperfection in bottom left corner. So I was surprised that I received one 9.8 and one 9.6. I guess the part that I’m a little disappointed with is that there are no grader notes. Anyway, I’ll use the imaging I received from CGC, I’m curious if you guys can spot the 9.6 from the 9.8. Take a look
  11. I actually just came to delete this because I looked up the other sales on eBay and indeed all the pictures of other graded books have the same thing. I guess I’ll leave up in case anyone has the same confusion that I had. thanks
  12. pics below Hi, I’m new to the slab game, own a few, but this is my first that I haven’t had graded by myself or my brother. I just received this book. Book was only released this June so it’s a very recent grading and perhaps there was a change cgc made to their slabs that I am unaware of, that and The shape of the possible crack is very symmetrical so I’m completely stumped. Not sure why CGC would add this however as it is visually unappealing. thanks for looking
  13. So I did this and the option for prescreen isn't available to me
  14. Hi i currently have 28 books in my cart that I’d like to submit as a prescreen. All have the same tier grading selected, but the option to prescreen is not appearing. Is it because I have ordered a couple of the books to be pressed?
  15. Thanks. That’s kind of what I was thinking. It’s just such a great Adams Cover on a key book. But I think I’ll stay away and try to find a decent raw copy
  16. I have an X-Men 58 (First Havok) in a 9.2 white pages. I think this book is going to pop in the coming years. Considering submitting for a Neal Adams Sig. My concern is obviously that the book gets down graded. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks
  17. Hi i have 25-26 books that I’d like to send out using prescreen. 3 of these books I believe would achieve the grade I am looking for after pressing out some creasing. Am I able to select individual books to be pressed using ccs or would all of the books have to be pressed as well. This would be my first use of the prescreen method and when I browsed the submission form it appeared to me that all I would have to get all the books pressed. If I only want a couple of books pressed should I do it using another company prior to submission? Thanks
