  1. Two 9.4s?? Oh boy, here we go.. Wonder if, in the end, the DC census will actually catch the Marvel census after all? Not so long ago we all truly believed that GL 76 was somehow scarcer than it turned out to be too!

I hope there are more high grade copies out there! Been wanting to upgrade my copy.

My biggest regret is not picking up the 9.0 copy in the Heritage auction back in 2007 or so...I believe it sold for just north of $10k...also the 9.2 Toth copy a couple years later for $35k...now probably can't buy a 8.5 copy for $35k :tonofbricks:

  2. So the reason I ventured into this thread for the first time in a while was to see what people were saying about the fact that there is now a 2nd 9.4 copy of B&B 28 in the Census.

I`m surprised to see that the answer is there is no discussion about this development at all! :ohnoez:

    Hey Tim :hi:

It's been a long time since I last posted.

I wonder if the new 9.4 is the old Toth copy...I remember it being a VERY nice copy with great colors...

Hi Johnnie, welcome back to the boards!

    Thanks

By the way, are you collecting anything these days after selling off your Flash and JLA collections

I forgot to add that the Toth copy was a 9.2 when it sold many years ago...

  5. Yep, as more of these 9.8's get graded by CGC...the price just keeps dropping...

    at least for bronze/copper/modern...

I can't help it, but I'm a completionist...and would like to get all the JLA issues from 101 to 261 in CGC 9.8...I will wait it out until the prices come down to what I think

they're worth...with this economy...that time may be soon

  6. Hey Tim

    Nice to be back...

I had to put the collecting on hold for several months to save enough money

for a down payment on a new house...

Also expecting baby #3 in about 3 months or so...

Unfortunately, the "comic money" will be harder to come by and I will have to

    change my collecting goals... hm

My next acquisition will likely be a BB28 or a JLA1 in the best condition I can currently afford...hopefully I can upgrade in the future...

  7. Time goes by fast...haven't posted in quite a while... :hi:

Great Book John! I have always wanted a copy of JLA 1 ever since seeing the cover in one of the early 80's Overstreet price guides...

As for the JLA market, I have noticed a trend...

    1. JLA #1- has slowly declined in price over the past couple years. That is a great price for the JLA #1 in 6.5 (thumbs u

    2. Early JLA issues (ie: first 20 to 30 issues) are selling at great prices in 9.4 or better

    3. Mid to Late JLA issues (ie: 40-100) are selling at great prices in 9.6 or better

    4. Everything else is drifting down in price points (ie: issues between 40-100 do not seem to be commanding the prices they did a year ago in CGC 9.4)...(and issues in the 100's and 200's in CGC 9.8 are not selling for the prices they did a year ago)...

    Rick,

I think sometime between now and mid-2010 before the movie hype hits ("IF, there is still going to be a movie!!") will be the best time to buy a JLA #1... :wishluck:

  8. I helped push the #19 up. Knew I wouldn't get it cuz i don't pay a premium for peds.

The #61 was a pleasant surprise! Gotta update my $preadsheet on that one (wonder if a 9.6 #62 -also a black cover with similar sub #s- would sell in the same ballpark).

I attribute the disparity between Avengers vs JLA to the likelihood of the Marvel movie against the iffiness towards a DC flick.

There's also a rumor floating around that there are a few more Marvel fans than DC? Pshaw!!

Tim's books are gonna fetch whatever I offer for them. hm

    Rick

Rick, the JLA #62 is extremely difficult to find in high-grade...the last time I had checked the census there was only 1 copy in CGC 9.6 and 2 copies in CGC 9.4...

I have a 9.4 and I think you have the other one...(if memory serves me right)...

the 62 is scarcer than the 61 in high-grade...so I'd expect it to be worth more... 2c

  9. Since we are comparing Avengers to JLA....

What the hell happened with this one....Avengers #16 CGC 9.0 for $2600 :o

    :screwy:

There's gotta be tons of these in VF/NM... :tonofbricks:

Probably could find one at a convention, slab it, and make $2000+ profit hm

then I could bid more aggressively for Tim's books... :acclaim:

  10. I helped push the #19 up. Knew I wouldn't get it cuz i don't pay a premium for peds.

What did you bid, Rick? I maxed out at $1234. I really wanted the book, even though it`s only a 9.2. Can`t believe that I ended up being only 2/3 of the way to the winning bid, and who knows what the winning bidder`s max bid was.

Tim's books are gonna fetch whatever I offer for them. hm

Guess my daughter`s going to be going to a state university!

    lol

  11. The 9.8 JLA #101 just went for 12X Guide. It was one of the better centered copies that I've seen, but still...

My elitism may be showing, but no way I'm shelling out over 5 Bills for a post-1970 post-#100 book with a cut off DC logo & right edge thumb mark. Congrats to the winner; I'll use my $500 elsewhere.

    Rick

Just saw that another 9.8 copy is in this week`s Heritage auction, with a Cert # that is one digit higher than the previous copy, indicating they were submitted together. Heritage has been selling off 9.8 copy after 9.8 copy of some BA DCs, most notably Actions, so I assume there was some discovery of a big batch of warehouse copies or something.

I sure hope for the sake of the guy who paid $500 for the 9.8 JLA #101 that it wasn`t the first of 20 more 9.8 copies.
