  1. There was at least one JLA in the Heritage auction that I was really targeting, but I'm sad to say I will not have anything to share in this thread. :(

    Anyone else win anything?

Out of 11 JLAs that I went after, 5 are coming my way...but only 1 of those fill a spot in my collection; the rest are upgrades. Paid more than expected overall, but the profit I make on my under-copies should off-set that.

Now, can someone explain the gap between #12 ($1673) & #15 ($776)? The latter has far better eye appeal, while the former is only 3 issues/5 months earlier. Census numbers are close enough 51-to-64, but the HGs are 3 vs 3(+ a.6)...?

Does Dr Light command that much more respect? Or did I just luck out with my up-grade?

    And how did #16, a 9.2, get a 9.4 price...$836 (C-Link)? I bid $100 more than I wanted to...and got wasted, so who's the lucky duck who got it (I know it's a board member)?

Based on the realized prices in general, it's getting harder not to cash in myself. Now that the movie is back on track... hm(shrug)

    Rick,

I think one of the reasons that the 15 went for significantly less money is because there was one that was just auctioned earlier this month on comiclink, so that buyer is out of the equation....also the 12 hasn't been for sale since I've been collecting again (2+ years).

From my vantage point, it seems that the prices on the early JLA's are very variable...sometimes you can get a 9.0 or 9.2 for cheap, and other times you have to pay aggressively... (shrug)

This new competition is restricting my collecting goals! :frustrated:

(well, I guess half the competition was from Rick! (tsk):baiting:)

  2. Rick,

I was going to bid on that 41 also, but when it went over $500 I passed. I have been trying to limit myself on purchases before ComiCon. I was also thinking about the 64 but I bought the Flash 107 instead as I needed an upgrade there.

I didn't bid very aggressively for this auction because I have my eye on a couple items in the next big auction ending next week

  3. Yo Tim (or anybody else),

Did you take a gander at the #42 9.6A?

I was ready to upgrade from your 9.4D...when I noticed something along the middle of the top edge which might be black over-spray, but looks more like a cover break??? Can't be sure either way, so I didn't want to take a chance.

Surprised it made it to $978 if that is actual damage.

Without that whatever-it-is, I would have jacked it up another 15-20%.

    Thoughts?

    Rick

I was following the 42, but I was also a little wary of the indentation on the top edge.

I already have a JLA 37 in CGC 9.4, but that 9.6 went for much lower than I thought. If I didn't have one already, I would have bid much more than $650

Didn't win anything this time :(

  4. :oPerhaps someone needs to tell the winner and underbidder that the movie is off? lol

Far be it from me to complain about skyrocketing prices, since I own a 9.6 copy, but WTF?!

Dang, take away those 2 nut-jobs & that book goes for just over $300 vs the final $1,175 !!

    hm

OK, I admit that I am indeed "domenicbasketball" and I am not someone you wanna mess with...so stay away from any & all other HG JLAs!

    Rick

    :o

I have been so busy over the past week...I have barely had the time to check the boards...I forgot about that JLA #27...That final price is about twice what I was going to bid!!

  5. Does anyone know the Mike of the Mike's Amazing World of DC Comics website?

Why has he let his superb site lapse?

    :(

He found paid work. A lot of development was done when he was out of work.

I haven't let the site lapse. It's been up and running as usual. I've continued to put in 20-40 hours a week on it just about every week for the last 10 years. I've also never been "out of work", I've held a real job the entire time.
