  1. I am a completionist at heart and would love to finish the entire run of JLA in 9.4 or better (#1-261, plus BB 28-30) :insane:

But that clearly is impossible (since I don't play the lottery)

The recent realized prices of the early JLA's have surged and there is no looking back....

so I am considering just collecting my favorites (ie: BB28, JLA#1, 3, 6, 10) and

    then all of the JSA appearances (ie: #21, 22, 29, 30, 37, 38, 46, 47, 55, 56, 64, 65, 73, 74, 82, 83, 91, 92, 100, 101, 102, 107, 108, 113, 123, 124, 135, 136, 137, 147, 148, 159, 160, 171, 172, 183, 184, 185, 195, 196, 197, 207, 208, 209, 219, 220, 231, 232, and 244)

what do you guys think? hm

  2. Whatever happened to the much anticipated JLA #1-3 that was to appear on the Pedigree site....like a week ago or so ago ...must have been sold privately hm

Would have been interesting to see what they would go for...

According to Doug in the dealer sales forum, they will appearing in the "Grand Auction" next month.

    thanks tim

    (thumbs u

  3. Thats too bad about the Western Penn Flash #127. Of the high grade books that I own I would never break open the CGC slab to look at the insides of the book. I have only done that with some lower graded books that I have bought slabbed. Its too easy to damage comics taking them out of their mylars. Whenever I am at a show I always ask the dealer to take expensive books out of the mylar for me. Thats a tremendous hit on the Western Penn Flash #127 but we all make mistakes! Still a great looking book! Erik

    :o

Feel bad for the guy. Must have wanted to resub for better page quality or upgrade to 9.6

  4. I was thinking you guys should go for this!

Any predictions on what it will go for?

$25k. will be interesting to see which goes for more the jla #1 or the b&b #28.

the jla #1 and the B&B #28 went for exactly the same. $30k + juice.

I think the call of $60,000 or better will be met by the JLA 1 9.6. I think it will get bought for $75,000.

What do you think would be the best route to sell it? Heritage, CLink, Pedigree or just a private sale?

I'd say a private sale would be the best option if you have a pretty good idea how much the book should fetch for.....because No Commission!

And you only need one buyer willing to pay the price, instead of 2 bidders...

    but I could be wrong...

  5. its interesting that in the Heritage listings for JLA #1 and #2 that their Census chart INCLUDES a 9.6 #2 but NOT a 9.6 #1. Werent they graded at the same time and neither are in the Official Census as yet?

Or was this 9.6 #2 the second 9.6 to appear?

There was already a #2 CGC 9.6, so the new finding in Kentucky (with the JLA #1 9.6 and JLA #3 9.4) is the 2nd #2 graded a 9.6

  6. With these big finds coming out, does it scare you away from bidding on these top census books. There is a 9.4 Flash 123 in Heritage and this JLA find makes me nervous to even bid on them.

    Yes and no.

Prior to these big finds, if there was a book I really wanted which was the "highest census book" (ie: JLA #6 CGC 9.4)....I could see myself bidding very very aggressively to win it at all cost (thinking this is my only shot at having this book because there will never be another 9.4 or better book). But, now I'm not too sure about that. This may be the ONLY 9.4 or better copy or there could be a few more (possibly surfacing in the next 5-10 years as collections are being sold for various reasons).

  7. Went by the LCS today and the books are in a safety deposit box. I got pictures of the scans they made of them and will post them when I get home. They've already gotten offers of $50k for #1 and $20k each for 2 and 3. I'm guessing they'll walk out the door at $100k combined.

Wow! He should do the deal if he's got those offers. Those are really high prices for the #2 and #3.

    Tim,

that JLA #1 would look great next to your BB #28.... :baiting:

Agree with the offer on the #2 and #3... :o (Cheetah, you did really mean

    20K each...not 20K for both)

  8. Went by the LCS today and the books are in a safety deposit box. I got pictures of the scans they made of them and will post them when I get home. They've already gotten offers of $50k for #1 and $20k each for 2 and 3. I'm guessing they'll walk out the door at $100k combined.

If you are hankering to spend that kind of cash, email me and I'll give you their contact info. It's the same folks that have the UHG TTA and TOS.

Within the last few weeks, my idea of what is really out there has taken a huge

paradigm shift. First, the impressive Toth collection and now this :o

Makes you wonder what will be released in the next 5-10 years...

    20K for JLA #3 in 9.4 :o

Can't wait to see the pics, Cheetah :applause:

  9. Is anyone else having mixed emotions about the Toth books?

It's great that there are such amazing early JLA's out there that look as fresh

as some of my bronze age JLA's.

But now I am getting tth2----itis. I look at the Toth 9.6 books and then

    my 9.0 books and.....

I am reassessing my collection goals...

JLA #1-100 in CGC 9.0 or better (which in itself will cost an arm and a leg) vs.

collecting my favorite JLA covers in 9.4/9.6....I'm leaning toward the latter....

There may be some JLA's hitting the market.... :o
