  1. Great cover, incredibly bizarre. (thumbs u New to me, thanks. (thumbs u What's a Zook? "A major change in the feature came with Detective #311, which introduced J'onzz's other dimensional buddy Zook. Zook had some wild powers of his own, including the ability to change his temperature from freezing cold to boiling hot, and to change his shape at will. He could also read minds with his antennae. Although able to talk he was portrayed as having the mind and affectionate nature of a small child." This is from Sacomics bogspot here. It was the Silver Age. God only knows what they were smoking.
  2. Great pickup, I do love the Barks' Ducks - a "bulk" deal perhaps - as I note with interest there are a couple of doubles.
  3. Beautiful book. That is, however, a slightly Bizarro LL. Check the fingers on her right hand.
  4. I am a big Mac Raboy fan but had never seen that Green Lama yarn before. Thanks muchly I love the way Raboy makes each and every panel interesting. Even the expository panels are beautiful, and he does little things like a couple of borderless panels to break up the "panel monotony" and give the reader something else to "contemplate". I don't think there were any two consecutive panels with the same "viewpoint". A vastly underrated and under appreciated artist. Just my 12c
  5. "Doc Merrit was due to marry our schoolmarm Lorna Doone"
  6. KOW I really like these sort of idiosyncratic books. I've never seen that Super DC Giant!
  7. Too much of a coincidence not to conclude that all four books have recently been released from a plastic tomb like this: Nice to see that they have survived so nicely. (thumbs u
  8. Nice book , however what was the problem with DC in those days and their ability to spell the word GAUNTLET? I've lost count of the number of times I have seen printed as 'GANTLET".
  9. it's a actual issue, it's number 188 Action #188 There ya go (thumbs u
  10. Should't that be Captain America was Timely's version of the Shield? Pep #1, Jan 1940 Cap America #1, March 1941
  11. Blue Beetle suffered from one of the worst numbering schemes ever. Wiki is some help here . This is the first issue of the 1967 series starring Ted Kord as the BB. The issues you have are earlier and likely to be Vol 3, from 50-54 (formerly Unusual Tales) and has Dan Garrett as the BB. The Ditko stuff is light year's ahead of the other stuff - story and artwise.
  12. Great book in great condition. Still remember buying it off the stands to read on a train trip (school excursion) Sydney to Newcastle in 1967. One of the books that kick started the addiction. Memories
  13. WOW I love those Uncle Sam pages. I'm going to have to dig out that issue to see the rest of the story. Here's a photo from July 4th. It seems like an appropriate time to repost it. Trust you BZ. Great US books (thumbs u but I am so pleased that someone else shares a love of Norman Rockwell - the Four Freedoms were/are a wonderful series. A truly inspirational and technically excellent artist whose work is all too often incorrectly dismissed as trite or hackneyed.
  14. That's what I love, I just wonder what happened to him? Here's the Wiki: Wayne Howard
  15. Greggy, I have never collected DC war books (or any others for that matter) but looking at those books really makes me want to start.
  16. I can't look at this book without thinking of the obvious chestnut: "If it's a good comic - it's a Miracle"
  17. Geez, I gotta vent here. I had the chance to buy the Kelly original of that Pogo strip a few years back. Didn't and have regretted it ever since. I know everyone on these Boards has these sort of stories but this was a case of really bad non-buyers remorse and that just dragged it all up for me again. Aah. That's better. Now back to your scheduled programme. Oh, and keep it up BZ, I love your stuff!!
  18. GREAT to have you back BZ. You sure know how to post your stuff. What do I want? Anything you want to post.
  19. Thanks for the link. The statue has amazing detail for something that small.
  20. Nope, found them Here but without the cool Batman figure. What is that?
