I'm on a major 1930s kick and buying up every decent copy I come across. One example from 1938.
I am on the same kick....I find I have much more interest in the 30's books then the 50's Super Hero Stuff.....
-
Even with the writing on the front covert that is a book I would own as I like the artwork
-
Love the older stuff.....just after platinum and at the beggining few years of the GA.....very nice looking copies
-
That's exactly why I bought it....never seen it before.......it looks like a nice cover, good high grade and it wasn't multiples of guide.....all good things
-
Two more purchases from Metropolis today....how can you go wrong with Schomburg and L.B. Cole (thumbs u
-
It is quite odd isn't it
-
Here's a new one I just picked up from Metropolis....
-
AA 16...hands down
-
...good one...but just so I fit in a little better I just bought this off Ebay since I was bored....
Looked like a pretty cool cover which is one of my big requirements. It's a littel later in the GA then I typically like to delve but the price was right so what the heck !!!
-
Not as spectacular as most of the books being posted but I just scanned a few of my books I found in my closet....
-
Already posted this in another thread but it fits here so.....
-
What a fantastic resource....other than Ebay and heritage....I never found most of these sites while surfing and I have a few purchases lined up thanks to the info
-
A recent arrival in the mail...
I agree that L.B. Cole is about as good as it get's with GA covers
That Shomburg guy isn't too shabby either
-
Man that's ONE NICE BOOK.....CONGRATS!!!!
-
That's a fantastic More Fun 124. I once tried to collect a full run of the More Fun humor issues, because they're cheap-yet-challenging, but I ultimately gave up. The content wasn't good enough to keep my interest up, and most of the copies that I found were real beaters. Your 124 looks superb.
Thanks, no grade was given and the scans were pretty small, but I took a chance on this one. I still can't believe it wasn't even in a comic bag when it arrived
-
I know this is in the grading section already, but since so folks don't frequent that section and I am darn happy to show off my first More Fun Comics:
-
Beautiful!!!!!!
I probably won't mess with it since I won't be taking it out of the back multiple time. I had not heard of the archival tape before so that might be a good option. The cover is detached anyway, but maybe I could use that tape to secure the cover to the book as well
-
I know it's not the pretiest copy, but I won this for $8 on Ebay a few weeks ago and I can still appreciate the cover art (Schomberg)
Now the question is what can I do to keep it together
Nothing is brittle per say, but as you can see there is some chipping on the cover that looks like it could come off at anytime. Should I just leave it in the bag as is or is there something else I could do to preserve it better???

Kudos to Rickdogg for a nice comic and super fast shipping

That's just the tip of the iceburg. Fortunately, I bought more GA comics in 1975 than any other year spending practically every penny I could scrape up.
Your a lucky man, I was still riding around on my tricycle in 1975
Buying GA now is certainly a costly endevor $$$$$$$$
-
I love the cap issues, especially the one with the Motor Cycle
As always Timely you have out done yourself!!!
-
It is a great cover though
-
That is just one of the sweetest covers I have ever seen. I'll have to put that one on my want list
-
This was my first Golden Age book I bought for $5 bucks. Yes there is tape along the spine, but for the price.....
I just couldn't say No!
Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!

A fairly common book but I still love the cover. I wanted to get a higher graded copy but the folks on Ebay were just asking moon money for the books so I just bid outright on this one and won it cheap. This belongs in the thread about books that look nicer than their grades (thumbs u
