  1. I'd be kind of blown away if it didn't pass a billion no matter what the reviews are. I know we throw that billion term around a lot loosely these days but this has to be a case of too big to fail (at the box office). It would be a near crippling indictment of the DC Franchise if a movie featuring both Batman and Superman can't achieve a billion worldwide.
  2. I was expecting a divisive film but so far it's pretty one sided, not just talking RT because a lot of trusted people not on RT but also independent sites I assume be more inclined to love it. I
  3. Seeing a lot of negative on twitter from critics who I'd think are more prone to like comic book type material than others.
  4. Is this due to Civil War flick or 2nd Taskmaster? I think it's just because of Civil War and that the whole 'Ant Man on the Arrow' thing was in the last trailer. Finally, for a bad reason
  5. Is it the problem? I think it's the strength. I do too, but keep him away from the Superhero world as much as you can. Anything above Daredevil shouldn't be in his book. I always thought that Wolverine crossover was ridiculous. Logan would gut him in 10 secs in 2 panels. One for each piece. I tend to view it as the opposite. Some of my favorite comics was seeing the Punisher show up in random comics and seeing this hardcore crazy person interact with super powered beings. Otherwise he's just a psychopath with guns, which isn't entertaining to me at all, or at least is common enough where it's not something that I look forward to. I feel a lot is lost when the Punisher isn't the Punisher anymore, and is just any ex-military guy with a gun in the normal world. I know literally hundreds of those they aren't very interesting at all. I know some people do like the kind of ultra violent, ultra realistic version (which I think works fine on screen, but not my thing in comics), but I tend to favor him showing up in Gang War or Hearts of Darkness or being with Wolverine in Punisher War Journal over the kind of real world noir takes some do and like.
  6. Oh, there is no doubt the figures now are gorgeous, it's just that I don't collect toys for toys sake. While that Snake Eyes is amazing, it's not a Snake Eyes that ever been in anything I like or owned before, meaning both the past, and nothing new that would make me want to buy it. I can liken it to even maybe as early as v4 or even v3 Snake Eyes (o-ring), it's just not desirable to me because that figure has never been in anything or representative of anything I value. That reality to go along with that I'm just tired of the same old as well, puts Joe in an odd place with me. I was really looking forward to that SK Omega line that was long rumored but nothing ever came of it.
  7. The good: Antje Traue. Also I really liked Diane Lane in this movie.
  8. Not that I know of, but I know of a few collectors that are getting out of the toys as they continue to become more brittle. The plastic and rubber used for the o-rings used in vintage GI Joe construction is not the most flexible and time has not been kind. Yeah this is a giant concern IMHO as well the the near flawless capability of resealing and manufacturing cards, bubbles, and bags. For myself though, I just have zero interesting of any post-oring Joes. That might be a nostalgia thing, and probably is, but I think also related to Hasbro's inability to create new fervor with the product. I wish they'd just come out with something new.
  9. Gonna watch it anyway, and I will say that the last 2 X-Men films which were IMHO the best X-men films also didn't look impressive to me in the lead up.
  10. I think what''s always intrigued me about Lobo, especially when talking cinematic universe, is that not only does he have that obvious Lobo thing, but he's a legit power level threat to most of the pantheon-like heroes in the DC universe.
  11. LOVE Tim Powers Both he and James Blaylock, the kind of original PKD descendants. Two of my favourite writers! With all the great cross-references in their books, I'm hoping they team up for one some day... They worked together on several stories like "Fifty Cents", "Through and Through", "We Traverse Afar", and "The Better Boy". Those are just teases... I want a 500-page crossover between Declare and The Last Coin. Or something. Pleasant surprise to see people talking about these two. Anubis Gates and Drawing of the Dark are two of my favorites. Anubis Gates is one of the all time great time travel novels.

  14. That's right, the title wasn't coming to me. I've only read a couple pages... Don't tell me anything... I read that back in the 90s...been so long, I need to read it again. Apt Pupil hit me harder back then... I think both novellas were included in a collection of four, including Stand By Me and Shawshank... IIRC. Can't remember what the book was called. Different Seasons. Stand By Me is the film name though, the novella is The Body.
  15. I realize G.I. Joe, the vast majority of them, are not tough to find, which is why I tended to focus on foreign releases, but has there been some kind of massive warehouse find of domestic mail-away toys over the last few years? I see so many more than I used too in great number and wonderful condition. Like I said, never rare to begin with, but I feel like I see them in such large quantity now.
  16. my jam. Bring back Talespin too.
  17. While I don't really participate in a lot of commerce here, I do think there are some things more important than money. While I don't feel I have any personal issues here, mostly because I wouldn't care if I did (just block - that's why it's wonderful) I certainly would not feel on balance for getting money from someone who personally insulted me. You see a lot of sellers list probies as not being able to purchase but also list something similar to "people I don't like", and I absolutely feel them, and if I was one of them, I'd be good with that, I don't want to do favors for anyone I don't like either. On the flip side if I found a seller to be particularly deplorable (like stealing money from old people and getting disbarred for it) I also can live without buying comics from you. I was once told of a garage sale in my neighborhood where there were comics at, and I just walked over to check it out, but than saw a full sized confederate in their main front window and I just took a pass. I totally get that if you are about money, and I don't meant that in a bad way, that doesn't matter, but I just don't need that in my life. Just like I'm not going to the hood either to answer a craiglist ad. There are people on this board who have large retail entities who I don't do any business with (and look, I'm sure the don't care, so it's not for effect it's just personal choice) because they've said some line-step type things here or elsewhere, not to me personally, but just general person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed things (usually when I say this it implies I see something that strongly indicates someone is a bigot, racists, homophobe, or some other person_too_unaware_of_social_graces type of activity). Unfortunately comics has a lot of those. At some point, actually almost at every point, this is a hobby for me. I do understand why people who are obviously making a good % of the their income not caring one bit about the quirks of buyers but I'd suggest even in an online commerce heavy world, forums sales are a little bit different than standard retails sales where you pay people to put up with less than perfect customers.
  18. It's your mom. If people, the prospective buyers, don't understand that I wouldn't want to do business with them anyway. Don't see an issue here as long as the agreed upon deals are still available to the buyer.
  19. Well that's not entirely true. There is the Planetary/The Authority: Ruling the World crossover., which you have read if you have the Planetary Omnibus, as it's included in there too.
  20. Stormwatch before Authority. Read Ellis Stormwatch, including all of Vol 2, and don't forget WildC.A.T.s/Aliens. which Ellis wrote and involves Stormwatch, then go to Authority.
  21. For me it's because I can't find mine. I can't imagine pricing be an issue. Further, your question always make me think when I see others who collect runs and don't care about condition and their efforts in completing them chronicled online and I never really understand it and I often ask them, in a haphazard way, why it takes so long. Look, I get it if you someone is collecting Actions or TEC's or Timely and have a HG threshold, there is hunt, but, for instance, if people don't have grade requirements, I always feel like I can get a run of ASM or X-Men, etc etc like in a few days max, right. I feel like most SIlver-Age on I feel like I can get an ASM f/f+ run by the end of the day if I wanted to, NO PROBLEMM right?
