Can someone give me a brief primer to how getting these done works? Or point me to an FAQ? I am but a humble n00b. I scanned the first couple pages and was able to gather that some of these are commissioned through companies that rep artists? Who are the big players in that space? I want to get some of the blank covers I have of Future State Wonder Woman done but I don't think I'm getting on Joelle Jones', Jen Bartel's, or Jenny Frison's commission lists anytime soon if they even do them at all... how can I figure out who is available in the space? CGC's events seem to just offer remarques, not full sketches so I'm guessing most of these vendors that facilitate commissions are also CGC facilitators or observers or whatever? How do I wade in and burn up even more money is what I'm ultimately asking

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
BoogieWoogie replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
What do you guys think about remaindered copies? There is a nearby shop that has an Annual #1 with half the cover missing - how does CGC grade these? I wonder if it might be worth buying, slabbing, selling and trying to get a low grade raw with a complete cover? Just did that with a low grade copy of ASM #15 that graded 1.8... think the upgraded raw I bought will be a 3.0 or 3.5... Anyway how the heck do you price these and is there any chance a remaindered book gets above a .5? Or will it even get that? -
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

No doubt, but I think we have a few more options than just those two It's just to get to Ravage, what do we need to see? First, they need to explore and establish the 2099 universe or some sort of rebranded future that's essentially the 2099 universe. Then, it needs to be popular. It needs to be popular to the point where they're done Doom and Punisher and Hulk and Spider-Man and still need more content. Half of those characters aren't even in the MCU yet. But I'm pretty down on baby spec so yeah it's a hair above that to damn with the faintest of all possible praise. At least IMO. I like Spider-Man 2099 because the video games will keep him alive with fans no matter what does or doesn't happen with Sony/MCU. The rest of 2099 I'm not as high on personally -

Oh and while we're talking Crush... Harley is speculated to be the mother. Might not be true but... what if? Not much heat on this yet but I grabbed one from my LCS juuuust in case. If this does turn out I bet this cover A is more coveted than the 1:25. Harley and Lobo enjoy a rather gratuitous hookup in this issue... in the carcass of some slain dragon or something IIRC Could be the child of Lobo and a minor character or new character too but I wonder... -

Cover A. Though I have 10+ copies of a few of the variants. So I'm holding onto maybe 50 or 60 total? All of them NM-. Thick book so the bottom left corner is really tough. Thinking about going to grab a 9.8 because I am not sure any of the bindery tears on my 30 copies of Cover A are small enough to get the 9.8. Has to be a low 9.8% for a modern book this one had tons of production problems. -

I just bought 30 copies of Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2014) for cover ($6 each). Haven't decided if I'm a fool or not just yet. Amazon better make this damn Silk show -

I have long wondered whether the Sony/MCU rights sharing deal might end with Marvel doing Death of Peter Parker so that Sony could then either reboot Spider-Man or do Superior Spider-Man before rebooting Spider-Man... #700 is a good buy just for the cover anyway -

Those guys are at least heroes Kraven though? Kraven? The press release called him an antihero so that's where they're trying to go with this but I am struggling to think of any time Kraven did anything along those lines. There are a lot of forgettable apps but I feel like I've read almost every Kraven appearance across Amazing/Spectacular/Web of/Sensational Spidey and... antihero? When? They must be basically inventing a character that looks like some facsimile of Kraven but is the opposite of the comic villain. Maybe make him a friend to/protector of animals instead of someone that beats on and hunts them for sport. Maybe drop 'the Hunter" and he's just Kraven now. I can just hear how this was pitched at the Sony offices, "Think Aquaman... but on Earth!" Can't imagine we're getting the cruelty to animals is fun version on screen -
Venom #25 Signed & Remarked by Tyler Kirkham
BoogieWoogie replied to hogan36's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
That's a hilarious drawing that actually adds to the cover, great piece! That's one of the nicer additions I've seen to an existing cover -
Newsstands are OLD NEWS Does anyone else collect early DIRECT editions? Got a pretty nice one in today AFAIK these were distributed in 3-packs at this point. #193 is the first widely distributed direct issue in the ASM run. AFAIK. So... I think... if people ever realize this... direct issues of ASM #194, #210, #212, maybe #209 with the Kraven film coming... might be a bit undervalued. Not sure how quickly the direct program ramped up once it got off the ground And honestly I doubt fans will ever care

Warren Louw Amazing Store Cover Wow !
BoogieWoogie replied to siro123's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
That's a Jenny Frison cover. When you mentioned the Catwoman covers I assumed you were referring to her excellent recent run of Cover B's on Catwoman. She has been killing the last few cardstock variants she did for Catwoman. Guess I'm off-topic, I'll see myself out But first let me drop my favorite cover from Frison's run on Catwoman cover B -

Awesome, I've been stacking as many copies of the Kraven's Last Hunt issues as I could over the last year or so. Couldn't afford more than just the one copy of his first app but this has been rumored for a looooong time. Hopefully Sony gets the ball rolling with some of this Spider-verse stuff. Black Cat has to be on deck soon... Silver Sable... if Kraven is coming I think there has to be bigger stuff in the works... E: Thinking on this more, this is even harder for me to have faith in than Venom or Morbius. A remarkably cruel animal hunter as the star of the film? Unless they radically alter Kraven's character I don't see how they can build a franchise on Kraven's back. Too unlikeable. But to be fair I was shocked by the success of Venom. -

Nice haul! Think that last FF is from the 2nd to last month that Marvel did newsstands, correct?

What's in your "long term speculation" box?

Oh I know, that's why I picked those up. Just thought it was funny that they were that loud about it when they published this -

I have several copies of Cover A but... they're all at least a bit dinged up. Dirt on the white border... larger bindery tears... I think I will squeeze at least 1 9.8 out of them but I wanted to be sure that I had at least one of Cover A. I usually like to slab my own raws, just buying one takes a little bit of the fun out of it for me, but with CGC's recent price hike I think some of the lower priced 9.8s are a bargain. At this point if you don't get a 9.8 through one prescreen submission and have to get it through the second one you're barely beating the cost of some of these $50 9.8's. I think I'm going to snap up a few around that price point that I like. Anyway, back to this issue... I feel pretty confident that I already have the raw copies to get the other covers in 9.8. 1 down, 5 to go... -

A couple very underrated Romita Sr covers... not high grade but under $5 per shipped. I like to consider #261 a low-key self-homage
