  1. I've always considered first solo issue a minor key sorta deal and still do. Is Marvel Super Heroes #20 no longer a big deal? Because if anyone has a high grade copy that they want to get rid of... a worthless first DOOM solo story... I'm your huckleberry
  2. The late 90s is when I was collecting pretty actively as a kid and those prices were high for the late 90s. The Death in the Family issues were around $10 a pop and I picked them up because Wizard ran a story on them and my LCS had them. I would say those were pretty aggressive prices for the late 90s unless it's a major city or something. I DID grow up in a small town. No Mellencamp. Same state though.
  3. Has this actually been announced? I thought it was still in the rumor stages
  4. So this sure didn't take long. I'm purchasing ASM #4 on Thursday, which will be my first time spending over $1,000 on a single book, and just earlier today... I came up on a strong lead for a local ASM #1. 2nd appearance of Spider-Man. 1st monthly title. 1st CHAMELEON! I've entered a deal in principle to pick it up. We'll see what happens. I have had leads fall through before and this one is also in the way-too-good-to-be-true range. Though this one will be much, much, much more expensive than ASM #4 if it's unrestored as the dealer says it could be a high grade raw ASM #1 for under $10k. The price I'm paying would be a good price for a 5.0 and I think this book is a 7.0 if the grader just found out his wife was sleeping with his brother that morning. He seemed surprised by my initial offer... I may have offered too much he might be researching it now I want to get psyched up but a lead on an AF15 dried up on me earlier this year. I'm buying a scanner tomorrow and selling damn near everything in my collection to raise as much of the amount as I can in a hurry but I'm going to keep my cool. Going to go meditate right now. If this deal evaporates another will arise. They always do.
  5. Thank you! I don't think I would have been able to intuit all that. I imagine you also scan with the spine away from the hinge or closer to where the clamshell opens?
  6. How did you come across this one? I buy enough as it is, venturing into buying whole collections would be dangerous territory for me I think but it can yield some gems like this cat lady apparently had...
  7. I have a Mortal Kombat II Collector's edition that I found in a bin for $3 that I need to throw up for auction. Not NM but should fetch maybe $150 based on what I've seen? Meant to get it up before the movie dropped but oh well. Need to go buy a scanner today. Maybe I'm being silly but I'm a bit concerned about damaging books when I scan them - anything I need to know to avoid avoid or is it fairly intuitive?
  8. The Time Variance Authority, they watch over the timestream and they detain Loki in the trailer. Still very affordable and if they play a big role they could jump. And time traveling so people are picking up Kid Loki's first app which is a modern book, Loki first shape-shifts into a woman in a modern book, there's stuff you could be on the lookout for. I don't have any of it myself and I'm not particularly interesting in chasing any of these down but if I chance across them somehow I'll grab em. When I hit that 90 minutes away place I'll probably look through the stacks and see if they have the Kid Loki book at least, they seem to have lots of nice moderns.
  9. The shows are HUGE. FATWS is said to have an audience of 2 million people per week. If 1% of 1% of that audience decides to look for key issues related to episodes as they run... that's a lot of new buys suddenly looking for an issue all at once Friday night/Saturday morning and a bit beyond. But the thing is these story beats are somewhat predictable for comics fans. Not totally, see Mephisto, but we all saw ASM Annual 16 before it really blew up, same with Cap 25, and if Bishop is doing this with no news then yeah X-Men 282 will only get bigger. All you have to do is follow these threads. Truthfully I picked up Disney+ but I haven't checked out Wandavision or FATWS yet. But I have been picking up copies of Truth #1 for like a year so I made out okay all the same. Not sure if I'll hit on anything for Loki but there is still plenty of time to pick up TVA books...
  10. Mine was totally going to come back 5 0 WP! Just has to wait a few more months Nice trade! I'm picking up my first 4-figure ASM this week... Amazing Spider-Man #4. Makes me dizzy thinking about it. Probably a 3.0 or so. Very excited to get it in the mail sometime next week
  11. I am curious if this will be a short event or if they're going to give it the whole Infinity Guantlet treatment and stretch it over multiple films. I do think these will rise eventually, it's a cool story and I think fans will love it on screen. I have a few copies of #1, not sure whether to start completing sets or not but I think it'll pay off. I've got lots of much longer term spec that I think I'll be waiting maybe years for so I don't mind waiting a few more months for Secret Invasion to heat up. Think there's plenty of time to find copies of this for $5 and below. Again, these books really blow up if the show drops and is good then the casual money floods in so there's plenty of time even past when the trailers drop. HINT FOR SHANG CHI HERE. Just look at Amazing Spider-Man annual 16... blew up with the trailer and blew up even bigger with the show. And I think they'll get Secret Invasion right and it's going to be awesome. The week to week hype and speculation we're seeing now... I think Secret Invasion will blow it out of the water... but if you can trust anything trust that I know noting
  12. Wow. Didn't know the population was that low. This could be like when I was outbid on an auction that included the All No-Price variant of ASM #184. Still polybagged. Haven't even seen one come up for sale since. I thought I was for sure going to pass but now... might have to sell some of these Ms. Marvel 16's I picked up today
  13. These are from late 2012 and I believe Marvel killed off its newsstand distribution the following year. I'm probably not your huckleberry but out of curiosity what are you looking for for these?
  14. Got this and #557 for $20, this is the nicer of the two but it has a bit of color rub on the back. This is from 2008 so not super late in the run but always happy to pick these up.
  15. Well I do have a copy so I guess I'll be glad I managed to avoid my habit of buying duplicate issues
  16. What page was this on? Want to see just how badly I was asleep at the wheel! Nice buy!
  17. I've got to thank @maidenmate91 for putting me onto this cover. My LCS had just gotten in a box of goodies that had been priced but not shelved and the owner let me have a look before he sorted it into the general wares. Pulled the Franken-Castle for cover and a copy of Thing #1 that I think will press into 9.2+ territory for $5. Had a few other things I liked in there but then I found all the X-Factor #2's and decided to call it a night. Gotta leave some stuff for the other collectors
  18. This place is similarly a nightmare. But I feel like I could go in there with a list and pull a bunch of 2015/2016 Marvel Now #1's and pay cover price for them... if I'm right it'll be worth an afternoon for a bunch of Silk #1's and Ms. Marvel #1's and I'm probably dreaming... If I'm wrong well I've wasted Saturdays before But I'm planning on really spending a good 4 or 5 hours looking through almost everything and never going back. It's 90 minutes away on top of being a wreck. That's the plan anyway
  19. There is an LCS maybe 90 minutes away that is the most disorganized I've ever seen... but everything that isn't a wall book is cover price, even if they've been marked up. They had a few copies of Amazing Spider-Man #1(first Cindy Moon) that I'm going to go back for this weekend or next. If someone was willing to spend a day going through their stacks - they have probably 12 longboxes of just unsorted stuff too... there's sure to be treasure in there it's just do you want to burn an afternoon and how well do you know moderns to actually catch all of the good stuff you flip past? Total honeypot though, most customers are just there for pops and the comics section is such a mess I'm sure it discourages browsing...
  20. Awesome. I found a sealed pack with Agents of Atlas 2-5 or 2-6 for half off cover price(the pack was put together by the LCS, not a distribution sealed pack to be clear) and I picked it up. Might go back to see if they have any more sets... found 6 copies of X-Force 2 at my LCS for $5 each today, those looked pretty nice. And a 1st app of Franken-Castle for cover, quiet day but a good one.
