  1. I know the Deadworld 10 ad gets all the love (and rightfully so) but some cool Crow ads in issues 11-13 as well. Apologies if these have been shared previously.
  2. I love Scud. This is one of those books and creators that made going to cons in the 90's so much fun (I include David Lapham with Stray Bullets and the Chaos Comics guys in this). Rob and his gang were always awesome to talk to and very kind to the fans. I haven't read the series in a bit but now I want to and can only imagine how well it holds up to expectations. I had a sweet leather jacket with original art from Rob (scud) Steven Hughes (smiley) and Eric Talbot (a wicked skull) that was sadly stolen from my car shortly after the art was drawn, I'm still bummed over that 25 years later. I'm curious if anyone has any info on Scud ashcans. I have 2, one for issue 5 (signed and numbered 51) and one for issue 6 (signed and numbered 84) I'd be interested if there were more and how many were made of each.
  3. To me the most telling part that makes me say "fake" is that both seem to have signed with the same marker.
  4. Ok, I did it. Cracked the slab, and boy did it crack easy and clean. First time doing that so I don't have anything to compare it to. Took the book out and very carefully cut it out of the inner well and I'm happy to report that not only is it a really nice looking book (better out of the slab I think) but it is complete. I'm hopeful to keep the same grade with CGC and maybe even a bump in page quality to off-white if my owl card is to be believed. Thanks everyone.
  5. Thank you. Glad to be here after being a lurker for so long.
  6. Thanks everyone. I'm going to work up the courage to pop that slab soon and take a look inside before sending it off for a press/cleaning and new slab. Exciting but nerve-racking at the same time.
  7. The Crow has long been one of my favorite stories, O'Barr created something timeless with this book. I was digging through my dungeon and came across this, not sure if it has been shared before in this thread by anyone. Apologies in advance for the sub par pics. but the booklet has 12 pages with prices, the pics themselves are pretty low quality in the actual book but we all know what they are just from a fuzzy pic. If there is interest I'll get some better pics taken of the whole things. I'm amazed at some of the prices these pieces were listed and I assume sold for. Wish I would have had the money at the time but I was just a poor teen back then.
  8. Oh wow, now I'm even more worried. Maybe I'll work up the courage to crack it open and take a look
  9. I know, I'm not too worried about losing a grade but it's the fear of getting a PLOD surprise that scares me.
  10. Hi all, I bought this book a few years back when I started to get into slabs a bit, it was a good deal and the pgx label didn't bother me. Now I'd like to get it into a CGC slab to match my other early issues but those horror stories of the other guys have me a bit concerned. I've looked at lots of pics of this issue online and it doesn't appear to be trimmed (my biggest fear with how clean the top and side edge are) it matches up size wise with my issue 2 as well. Just thought I'd see what you guys think if it's a safe bet to crack it and get it over to CGC. PGX graders notes are: corner chip back cover, cover and edge wear, 1" crease front cover
  11. These were mailed to retailers back in the mid ‘90’s as a thank you. I want to say it was 1993 and 1994, but I could be off by a year. They included a Christmas card as well. As for what they sell for, not sure, I’ve had mine ever since and don’t plan on selling.
  12. I found this in a large collection I bought about 8 years ago. It was separate from the comics in a box of sports magazines that I didn't take, luckily I flipped through the box and found this along with a counterfeit Cerebus #1.
  13. From my understanding these were done in the mid '80's when the first prints were hot. There are a couple different counterfeit copies from what I've read. A lot of them are 2nd and 3rd prints that have had the print info erased or whited out on the inside front cover, I wouldn't consider these counterfeit as they are just altered copies of the reprints. This one is what appears to be harder to find and actual counterfeit. It has the Dover address on the inside front cover and the Gobbledygook ad on the inside back cover. The cover colors are darker and you can see the lack of crosshatching in Shredders arm on the front cover. It's off for a press and grading so we shall see when it comes back in about 6 months.
  14. I'm sure it would be easier to say with some pics but based on the notes I would think this is a great candidate for a press and resubmit
  15. They are graded on the census unless the policy has changed.
  16. I'm going to follow the crowd on this one 7.5
  17. I imagine there is a thread around here somewhere that somewhat gets into the details of this book but basically it has all the right stuff to be a first print (Dover address on inside front cover, Gobbledygook ad on the inside back cover. But the cover (maybe the entire book?) is counterfeit. The tell tale signs are the scratching across the back cover and the loss of the crosshatching in Shredder's arm on the front cover. They have long been know to exist but no one really knows the deal on where they came from or even how many are out there.
  18. I'll say 6.5 but still a really nice looking book
  19. Amazing looking book. I'd say 9.6. Is this the second print?
  20. New to this game. Just the front I would have said 9.0 but after seeing the back I'm thinking 8.5
