  1. I think there's no way to predict future value really. Movie/TV speculation can drive prices. But if you have an existing collection of books, like yours with Walking Dead #1, etc... You can look at past Ebay Sales, GoCollect FMV values, etc.... There are ways to at least get an idea of the existing worth of a book.
  2. I think the pictures no longer show up in the thread, but if you click on them you can see them that way.
  3. Probably your best bet. Someone will buy it eventually...
  4. The short answer is, modern mylars and fullbacks are not fit for SA comics. You need the bigger ones. Longer answer is here:
  5. I mean, I get what you're saying. But when x=100 you are starting to talk about significant age for wood pulp. Still, I'm happy to not slab if it's not necessary, just wanted to be sure what my plan might be going forward.
  6. If this has been asked/discussed before, my apologies, I didn't find it anywhere with a quick search. My question is, with GA books, will there eventually be no option but to slab them if we want them to persist? I like Mylar's with full/half backs and such as much as the next guy. But as these books approach/pass 100 years old, won't conservation of them almost require something like a slab? I have plenty of GA books that I don't have slabbed now but I'm relatively young. At some point I feel like I will have to send them to CGC or one of the companies out there if I want to keep them for any length of time. Isn't that really the only way to guarantee almost zero humidity and air contact to weather the pages? Or, have there been enough studies done on page/paper conservation to make a definitive answer of "Mylars with acid free backers are as good as slabs for conservation" ?
  7. That's a humidity thing, not "steaming". I'm no expert, but I think the humidity thing is important if there are deep creases/folds, etc.. But not so much for lighter stuff?
  8. I like the custom labels. I wouldn't pay more for one with it as opposed to an identical comic without it. But I wouldn't pay less either.
  9. Another I acquired recently. It's not in too great of shape, but I, again, wonder if a C&P would help. Staples are good, it lays flat, pages are CR/OW. There does seem to be a water stain inside (Last picture). It goes through most of the book but it doesn't smell moldy, and it looks like maybe the minor ripples from it could press out leaving just a little discoloration.
  10. Picked this up not too long ago. I panicked when I first got it because the bottom of the cover looks like it might have been trimmed (the words are cut off a little). But I looked around and it seems like that might be fairly common for this issue. It's also the same size as other bronze age comics I have. I wonder if a press and clean would help this much, seems like it might. Staples are tight, it lays flat, and nothing seems to be missing. Pages are W/OW
  11. My wife did say much the same thing a few years ago, but I had like 20+ long boxes in various places around the house. She wasn't wrong so I have found a better place for them now.
  12. It is awesome. Not only does it make it easy to justify my hobbies, but we both spend time together doing stuff we like: she doing her diamond thingies, me putting together Lego. Works out well all around. She knew when she married me I had a lot of "stupid" or "childish" hobbies. She's good with all of them, she's even joined in on the RPG playing now and again and she's a video game addict.
  13. My wife likes to do these weird diamond art painting things. I don't even know how to explain them, I just say "yes dear" as she buys more . She also likes to plant stuff and paint different planters for planting stuff in. For all of it I just leave her alone, and she leaves me alone with my comics and Lego. It's a good system. I won't comment on the bath thing much except to say... yes you are correct.
  14. My wife is pretty accepting of my comic hobby. It recently got far more expensive as I made some changes to the way I collect. But she recognizes that I love doing it, it keeps me out of her hair, and that, if I do it right, down the road it'll be more than worth the extra expense now. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I support all her hobbies without flinching.
  15. CGC Barcode checker: https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/ Should you be concerned it's a fake? I mean, anything is possible, but the cases are not easy to crack without damaging.
  16. So you're saying a liver AND a kidney will take it?? Done!! That's really cool, GLWTS!
  17. Window bags are required, CGC's specific ones they sell are not. I use the yellow bags, they work fine and are pretty easy to deal with. The Window is about 3/4 of the front cover (maybe a little less) so it gives the signer more room. You can't control, as well, where they sign, but you can request specific places and they say they'll attempt to accommodate. My guess is how well they accommodate will depend on how far in the day it is and how tired they are.
  18. I don't have an answer. For currents I usually do halfbacks, fullbacks for SA/GA. But that's just me. Not sure why fullbacks would have shot up in price.
  19. That's pretty cool, glad that is the plan. Will ease a lot of anxiety.
