  1. Hey, I have that Loot Crate copy! I had no idea I could sell it for 13k!
  2. I know you're the card guy, but does this process work for comics also? Or cards only? And can we also pick up after they are done? Or does it have to always be mailed back?
  3. Let me start by saying I'm not complaining here, this is just an observation and a question. I sent in 18 books in December. 2 economy (though 1 was going to be pressed so will be even longer), 9 modern, 6 value, and 1 magazine modern. They were marked as received on Dec 17. It's now January 26, somewhere in the area of 23 working/business days later and 1 book, the 1 economy not going to be pressed, has already been graded and shipped back to me. The other 17 haven't even been scheduled for grading yet. I say it seems weird because when I sent them in, modern was easily the fastest service in their turnaround times at 30 some days while the rest were at 80+, though now modern and economy seem to have evened out. This was my first ever shipment to CGC, is this pretty standard? I'm getting the feeling that the turnaround times are far more like loose guidelines than anything you can set any sort of expectations on.
  4. Yea, I get that there's no guarantee of anything. Just trying to figure out if it's worthwhile to try. Thanks for your input!
  5. I mean, if you have prime: https://www.amazon.com/Silver-Comic-Backing-Boards-Pack/dp/B0831TPGRT https://www.amazon.com/BCW-Current-Board-Bags-Boards/dp/B001MDF4UA
  6. So I started a topic a few days ago on the newbie board, I was told I might get more help here. Basics are grading notes from Ultimate Fallout #4 say it's a 9.2 because of 2 things: "polybag crease center of cover very light spine stress lines to cover" So I'm wondering if it's worth a press. I got some pics, since it came back today. I couldn't get my scanner to scan it, kept coming back blurry with the slab, so it's just phone pics. Front: Back: I tried to get a picture of the polybag crease, but it's hard to see with the naked eye, nm with a picture. I put the glare in so maybe you can see the sort of absence of color that denotes the crease, seems to go quite a way up the back, but it does seem slight: I also got some pictures of the spine, to try to see the spine stress lines, but I can't pick them out. Nothing I can see seems color breaking. So, would a resubmit and press be worthwhile?
  7. Absolutely. As soon as I actually get it back I plan on doing just that and getting with you experts here for a better diagnosis .
  8. Right, I didn't press it this time around. This was my first ever submission to CGC for anything. I've definitely learned a few things about what I should do beforehand, like look closely for things like creases/fine lines so I can consider a press. Hopefully what you say is accurate and I can do a press and regrade with better results.
  9. Yea, I've been looking around also and it's pretty vague. I'll repost in the other forum once I have it back and can take some pictures. Prolly the only real way anyone will be able to actually tell.
  10. Yea, like I said, I learned that afterwards unfortunately, when I got the grader notes and looked it up. At least I know now I guess.
  11. Unfortunately I do not have a before picture. When I get it back (and it shouldn't take too long I live about 15 miles from Sarasota, took 2 days to get there when I sent them in) I'll take pictures of it in the slab. I'll also post in the other board if that's a better place.
  12. So, I just saw that my Ultimate Fallout #4 finished getting graded. I checked the graders notes and it came as a 9.2 because of 2 things: "polybag crease center of cover very light spine stress lines to cover" I didn't know, before seeing this, that the center creases seem to be standard for this particular comic because of the polybag, etc... So, my question is, when I get it back, would sending it back for a press and re-grade be worthwhile? Like, would it possibly move it to a higher grade? Or, should I just be happy with my 9.2 and be done with it? Nothing says color breaking anywhere, so I feel like it might be worthwhile. But, I'm new to this, so I might be crazy also. Thanks
  13. I did my first submission in December. If I remember right, all of the comics showed up as received within 3/4 days of the postal tracking saying it had been delivered.
  14. You are absolutely correct! So let me correct you so you can be accurate... WORKING days..
  15. Ok... Thank you for being here to repost the obvious for us newbies. Not sure what we'd do without you.
  16. Yea, I, too, had to wait for my first post to be approved. It's just a thing they do for security purposes I think. I just sent my first batch of 18 comics in a month or so ago and they haven't moved beyond received as of yet so I can't really tell you how I feel about the process. It does seem like the turnaround times keep getting larger instead of smaller. I think when I first signed up they were at 60'ish days. Now they are at 80'ish. So we'll see how it goes. Sucks you had a bad experience. Nothing personal but I hope it was just a strange one-off
  17. I'm Mike. Been buying/reading (and even stealing as a young child, don't judge me ) comics since I was a kid. I have realized over the course of the last few months that I am a comic hobby enthusiast, but I can't really call myself a "collector". I have a bunch of runs of various sizes from different comics, some keys from the 80's/90's, and a lot of "other stuff" that I thought would be good to collect and wasn't (8 copies of X-Force #1 with different trading cards anyone???) . I have recently gotten more in to serious collecting of current stuff, and I buy various silver/golden age comics here and there if I see them available for a good price.
