  4. "I get by with a little help from my friends"
  5. now show me a 10 cent version of one of those..... The Journey into Mystery regular edition has the cover price blacked out and a 12-cent cover. right, there are 12 cent covers, and 12 cent covers with a black circle. I have been searching for a 10 cent cover that "escaped" forever with no luck. I hope one exists somewhere.
  6. and for anyone that has one, I am still looking for a copy of the Love Romances book with the black circle, pm me
  7. now show me a 10 cent version of one of those.....
  8. truth--none of those. Reasons relate to the seller. otherwise if you are just asking as a hypothetical question: --What title do you collect--buy that issue. --If you are looking for rarity, the Marvel Super Action 2 --If you collect variants, buy the one you do not have --If you are looking to start collecting variants, keep shopping there are better deals to be had Keep in mind, if they were a decent price, they would have gone in one of the first ten times they were listed.
  9. They do exist... every April 1st. I remember you posting that years back--I must say, the story and the pic were very convincing, and clever.
  10. This doesn't make any sense. I think he means 25c variants of normally-priced 20c books, not 25c variants of 30c books thanks Sal, that is exactly what I was saying. I was not trying to confuse anyone.
  11. I would preface this by saying I am just a smalltime collector-- Anything is possible, so I will not call it nonsense. I will just say that I have never seen a Marvel 25 cent variant, or know anyone who has. Another observation-that article is very old. The author was on the forefront and a pioneer in the discovery of the anomalies that turned out to be Marvel price variants. Being that early, a lot that has been confirmed over the years was just speculation. 35 cent variants exist, 30 cent variants exist, is it so much of a stretch to surmise that 25 cent variants could possibly exist? Well, I for one do not think they exist, but would be the first to tell you that I WISH THEY DID.
  12. If you find some 25 cent variants of 20 cent Marvels, you would be rich
  13. so, here is the real story. I saw the book right after it was listed. lucky timing, I guess. I bid, as I usually do. Then I sent an email where I told the seller that I had one, but was asking if he had any more variants besides the defenders that he had listed. the seller wrote me back and told me he had recieved a large offer for the book, and since I already have one, would I mind if he took that offer. I then told him the sales prices of the last two copies to show up on ebay, and their grades. Then I blogged about the book at variantmafia.com. I guess that makes me the dork, because the seller chose to put up bigger scans. No offense! I used the term "Dork" In the nicest way..you know.. it was a term of endearmant. In other words I used the word "Dork" as Greggy would use it! I have been called worse Nerd

  16. I came across him in my searches for books I need. I asked for a scan of one book, and the pics were of the regular issue even though the book looked like variants. So I laid in some very modest snipes, only to be outbid. Then a couple of days later they were all relisted. I emailed the seller and he told me the story of a person who bought all the variants off ebay, and he replaced them with regular books. Thus he let the original bidder off the hook, with positive feedback. Then you hammered the books now listed with BIN's. I felt bad for ya I think he had two westerns.......
  17. cosmic has the lighthouse copy canikus has the Mcsurley copy I have the copy found by comichunters Carl, yours is the dimond in the rough...... every time I give up looking for books I have, another surfaces..........
  18. Hey Terry, there is your copy, Craigs copy, my copy, and now Carl's copy make 4 Congrats Carl!
  19. I have most of the Whitmans but don't consider them essential. Got all the So Much Funs and the Superhombre. I only thought there were two Amethyst variants, I got one and won the other on e-Bay but it never arrived and they stiffed the guy who bought it for me. I don't consider them essential but wanted them anyway. Not interested in pence copies. I throw them in my spare boxes. Got virtually every second print and variant cover ever made. And that includes all the speight of new ones with 1 in 25 variants of Justice Society etc etc thanks for the reply as far as amythest goes, it appears that there are both direct and newsstand 35 cent editions for issues 1 & 2. still curious, why would you consider the Whitmans non-essential? They are not reprints, and they are DC's. It seems to me that they would be more essential than reprints or subsequent printings (unless the cover is different). Do you have all the DC comics that come with toys? Do you consider them promo's? Are they essential?
  20. Ian- Just curious, do you have every DC Whitman, SoMuchFun, Superhombre, and all four Amythest 35 cent variants? Also interested in your take on Pence, newsstand, and second, third, and deeper prints? thanks Harry
  21. thanks to Scrooge for the GA Captain America Trade and thanks to Comicdey for knocking another GA Ghost Rider off the list!
  22. Thanks (thumbs u . Super tough to come by, for me anyways. The last one I saw sell was Dans copy. Although I do know the fella who owns the pair of CGC 9.4's, actually held em pre-slab and post, solid copies they are...but he wants WAAAAAAY TOOOOO much. I will gladly settle for this copy . Now to find a #1... I believe I saw that there are two 35 cent versions of both books....... so you need three more books.
