  1. Because they are virtually impossible to find in any condition? I think originally to get them on the census as existing.....
  2. very nice Conan I just sent you a PM, btw
  3. nice books, Vince I still have a book or two for you.... as to prices--define holding steady? I just collect them too, and hope to be done someday.
  4. Most of my ASM Double Covers are low to mid Grade so I got most of them below guide their don't seem to be that much interest in them unless they are CGC graded over 9.0 like this one I just lost to Comgeek ASM 120 Double Cover I think I paid a little over guide for my #14 and maybe a few others but not by much. come to think of it Comgeek has beat me out of several high Grade ASM Double Covers that I realy wanted Does anyone know if he is a board member? he is
  5. Like this small group I would crack those two slabs........
  6. and where there is a hidden 35 cent variant, so is Cosmic..... Hey JC--
  7. I gave up hoarding...I thought Cosmic needed them too. I also do not understand why some people bid $90+ on hidden books, but do not even bid on the ones in plain sight. you also say "crossed off (your) list"--are you collecting them now or will you be flipping in a couple of weeks?
  8. Circa 1978, you're looking at a Whitman variant. Well with only 4 copies at 9.8 I believe I probably have the lone Whitman variant which is fine by me and at a great price too. If this was a reprint I would think that CGC would have labelled it accordingly. I have really been lucky plucking some of these high grade BA FF's this past year. OK I am going to try to be perfectly clear: This is not a price variant. This is not a reprint. The question debated in another thread is: could this be an example of a Marvel Comics Group "Whitman Variant". JC believes "yes". I tend to agree with him in this circumstance. regardless--you have a very nice book.
  9. Circa 1978, you're looking at a Whitman variant. while the jury may still be out on this subject, I would tend to agree with the above comment. If ever there was a strong case for the Whitman Variant, it seems to me that the white box issues are the most likely candidates.
  10. 185 more to go Just how rare are these books? What was a typical distribution figure for these books? I do not think any of the FF's are rare as far as variants go. I have no idea on print runs.
  11. I never imagined being out-sniped at $90+ per book. Classic case of bumping heads.
  12. I never imagined being out-sniped at $90+ per book. Classic case of bumping heads. Yes I was gambling that they would be upgrades. Westerns and horror have been strange as of late. A Kid Colt went for $26, then another went for $40 something. Meanwhile, a VF in Al Stoltz's store does not sell for $125. So who knows what they are worth? I just wish the seller had my last book. (or one that metarog needed)
  13. no punishment--but it was me. I need a serious upgrade for all my TGK's.
  14. Nice book Jeff. When are you going to find my last book?
  15. you dont get the CGC newsletter......?? I will forward it to you--sign up for it!
  16. well-- like Shad said in the General Forum, there are only six of us regardless, my answer is no
