  1. I just bought a Astonish # 37 off E-bay. First E-bay purchase in a while. Guy has 100% feedback and claims he undergrades. I posted it in the grading forum and some of you chimed in to help me decide. Its going back. A good pressing wouldnt bring it up to grade. Yes,alot of people one E-Bay cant grade, but for this guy to come on here and admit to overgrading is the dumbest thing Ive heard in a long time.I dont think anyone here is going to buy deliberatley overgraded books. Is he nuts. Its an insult to sellers who actually can grade in the ballpark.

    Who was the seller?

And I agree. Alot of guys there cant grade. I grade accurate and I think it actually hurts my auctions. Sellers and buyers alike cant grade.

The sellers id is honestgradecomics. I dont think theres going to be a problem returning the book, but so far he hasnt given me a shipping address. There were alot of impact creases and dimpling on the front and back cover that werent noticable in the scans. His grade was F\VF. I have to agree with the boardies. About 5.0. He stands by his grade. O.K. I just dont agree, so its going back. I think I'll stick to these boards. Ive had good luck here so far. Next time I pick up a collection for sale, Ill try running it through here first. Heres the post for the book in question. Sorry for the huge scans. My scanner is crapl

  3. I think in so many ways an 8.0 for most of these books equates to at least a 9.0 for many other genres and book categories...even 7.0s and 7.5s are quite rare by Census standards...

Agreed, grades like those just dont pop up to frequently. Most are in the VG/F range, and most of the ones on E-Bay look questionable. I can remember backin the day when dealers tables had stacks and stacks of the pre-hero books. Those days are history sad to say. Again, great looking books!

Even though that #29 cut-off cover is kindof unique and you don't see it that often, it really works with that cover!

And that #33 you just hardly ever see...I'm thinking that is quite rare in grade...wouldn't you say so Rich? Others?

Again, what can I say...another round of pre-hero beauties!!! :headbang:(worship):applause:

Yes, these are really nice books, and certainly in these grades. I think all the pre-heroes in the higher grades are getting tough to find. Very nice copies. (worship)

  5. I wouldn't touch it whether or not I was holding a ten-foot pole. What does the pole have to do with it?

I also wouldn't touch it with THE ten-foot pole.....

    ;)

I wouldnt touch it with lubricated medical gloves. :o

  6. I have to agree with most of the posters here. Ive personally never bought anything from this dealer but have looked at his auctions for years. Everytime he has something I need to fill a hole, it looks way overgraded to me. Dont know the man, but i just avoid sellers who list books that are obviously not graded in the ballpark.

And how they maintain such high feedback ratings is a mystery to me.Just my 2c

  7. He should be on the probo list for wearing those jammies :roflmao:

:roflmao: No . . . he should be BANNED for wearing those jammies - MODS notified! :roflmao:

I'll say this. I hope this person learned a couple of things here. DONT mess with the grinder. And for heavens sake, never let a picture of yourself in P.J.'s out loose in the unsuspecting world. Especially with members like Dice lurking around. :roflmao:

  9. I nominate TVanderZwaag

he posted an :takeit: a month + ago, a week and a half later he asks me for my paypal addy so he can send payment as soon as he can gets the money, 3 weeks go by...I send him a reminder, he ignores it. I send him another, he reads it and ignores it. I ask if he is ignoring me....he replies....he cant afford it now and if I think he is a doosh, he doesnt care. He first tells me he owes a lot of people here money, then he sells some books, puts a WTB thread up and sells some more books.

I PM'ed Divad and asked if this is a probation list issue....and the response was clear

Its a simple process around here. You buy something, you pay for it! If you want a book but dont have the funds, P.M. the seller and make arrangements if its ok with the seller. When I buy something or win something on E-bay or on these boards, its paid for immediatley. Its because I want it, and want it in my hands for my collection. If you dont have the money, dont bid. Its simple. Nobody wants to chase a buyer for funds. Weve all heard every excuse there is. This is a great place to make friends or otherwise. Nobody should be waiting for funds for three weeks unless theres a legit excuse.

  10. Seeing that I have high grade hoards of all of these comics and I need to raise more funds for my AF15 purchase, I'm going to be listing ALL of my Uncanny X-Men CGC 9.8's (12 in all). The issues I'll be listing are #198, 201, 207, 211, 213, 218, 221, 222, 234, 239, 244 and 248. They will be priced at or slightly below 12-month GPA. (thumbs u

I'll be starting the sales thread later this morning to give more boardies time to wake up.

We wake up early around here! (thumbs u

  12. whats wrong with the hulk? (shrug)

Does it look VF/NM to you? :screwy:

Well the question is, did you base purchasing these books on these scans, or were there a different set of scans? The X-Men book looks 4.0, and that would probably be a stretch.

  13. It seems from my experience you seem to run into a trouble maker, or just someone you cant please about every one-hundred or so auctions. If you package well, respond to e-mails quickly and ship on time you wont have to much trouble. And some people just arent happy no matter what you do. But, in this case, when the seller has continuous negative feedback for the same thing, and gets smart and aggresive with his customers, your not going to be too successfurl selling stuff, and your not going to draw in any new customers when people see this. Great feedback history speaks for itself. Your shipping, packaging, and correct descriptions of items are all looked at by prospective new customers. When I see repeated NEGATIVE feedback like his, adios amigo.

  14. Yes, it's the same seller... and I came to the same conclusion re bidding.

Me three and there are some books I was very tempted to bid on if I didn't know who the seller was...but no feedback in a year...and if you check Negative Neutral Feedback His responses to the 40 previous negs, would have turned me off anyway...

Ebay did bidders no favors by hiding old negs and neutrals

Thanks for posting the link for the feedback. Who would ever order from this seller?

    Sure wont ever be me.

  15. I think as a seller, and I have sold thousands of books on E-bay, you should state your shipping practices up front to avoid worrying your buyer and avoid the mystery of where your books are. After a book is sold I immediatley box it up an tag it. Its ready to go. Simply state in your rules. Money orders ship the next day. Personal checks are held ten to fourteen days before shipping. Once payment is recieved just send a E-mail stating its on the way. Then just dump the books in the mail. Hope everything works out here, and I'm sure it will.
