  1. Based on the above, I take it that you reached an arrangement on shipping fees. Pontoon stated that there's no import duty on comics in the UK, so your buyer shouldn't have any charges when the book arrives. It looks like everything *should* work out...
  2. It would definitely get messy. Snake Eyes raises a good point - what information was stated up front about international shipping? If neither of you discussed it, then I think this situation would probably fall into a gray area. If you did state that shipping would be at cost, the buyer is probably eligible for the PL. Without knowing the particulars of the book, can you find another buyer without taking a loss? If I was in your spot AND could sell the book elsewhere, I'd tell the buyer that you're uncomfortable committing mail fraud and cancel the deal. As for putting the buyer on the PL, I'd be hesitant to do it. However, I'd probably never do business with them again either.
  3. Tell him that by declaring the value at $50, you can't insure it for it's actual value and that there will be no returns in the event of damage. Then ship it in an unpadded envelope... Seriously, though, if the buyer expected you to lie on customs documents (and underinsure his book), that should have been brought up before he agreed to buy the book. This screams of a rookie error on the buyer's part. As someone who buys 90% of his books from a foreign country, I always go over shipping details before I commit to a deal. Bottom line, I don't think you should be eligible for probation when special conditions are applied by the buyer after the deal is basically complete.
  4. Google "spider-man homeless girl" and it links to a Wikipedia entry containing this: A Spider-Man short story titled "Leah" about a homeless little girl who goes into a coma and is found by Spider-Man, the doctors inform Spider-Man she won't make it, as Spidey kisses Leah on the cheek he wishes her "sweet, sweet dreams"; Leah falls asleep looking at newspaper clippings of Spider-Man mirroring the girls death while looking into the matches. The story was originally in the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Annual #1.
  5. Anyone follow last night's CLink results? All I can say is "Wow!" There must have been some huge pressing potential in the Ditkos / early Romitas or the market is making a huge comeback... They went for incredible prices. The 9.2 WP copy of #31 almost hit $1800. That's over 150% of the all-time GPA high. I took a look at some of the bids early yesterday, shook my head and decided to give CLink a pass this month. It looked like every book I might have been interested in was at 120% of GPA and climbing...
  6. Kudos going out once again to Bill for a very sharp looking copy of ASM #76 from this thread: ASM #76 sales thread I think it's safe to say that this one's headed to CGC and will soon be showing up in my registry set! Securely packed, speedy shipping, and very tight grading. Another great transaction! Thanks again!
  7. Not yet. Of course, he abandoned the board, so I doubt it will be read, but I'll give it a shot. He may not be posting, but he's still lurking. He sent me a PM in response to one of my WTB threads a few months ago.
  8. Yeah, it seemed like there were a lot of nice PQ copies this time out. There were certainly more white paged ASMs than I can remember seeing in any recent CLink auction.
  9. Nice grabs. I was bidding on a few as well. My only winner was the 9.0 WP copy of #36. Looks like we just need to see if another boardie got the 9.4 WP copy to make a clean sweep of all three #36s for the CGC boards. Prices seemed to be a bit aggressive for the other 9.2s that I was bidding on. They went for between 20% and 30% more than GPA, which is a bit surprising for 9.2s...
  10. And speaking of which... It looks like byosti has a 9.6 / OW copy of #82 for sale in the Marketplace now. byosti's Sale Thread - ASM #82 9.6
  11. Thanks. It presents very nicely for a 9.2, but there's some slight damage around the lower staple on the back cover. That's probably the major defect holding it back from a 9.4 or 9.6 candidate. There's actually quite a few of these in HG (6 in 98, 23 in 9.6, and 49 in 9.4), but you're right - they don't seem to be available all that often. GPA only recorded ten sales of 9.2 or greater all last year.
  12. Thanks everyone! I'm quite happy with it. There seem to be a few hitting the market lately, so you might get a chance... I was outbid by $2 at the last second on the #81 in the January CLink auction. This one showed up in the March CLink auction, and now the #122 is on the block in this month's auction. I'm tempted to chase the #122, but a bronze age key from a major pedigree is probably going to command a huge premium. I can't remember the last time I saw three Pacific Coast ASMs go on the market inside three months. In fact, I think I only saw two on the market all last year...
  13. This one just arrived yesterday. My fifth Pacific Coast ASM.
  14. I hope you'll reconsider, Whisp. Your devotion to MK has been admirable and I always follow your thread. If you don't mind me making a suggestion, why not adjust your goal to drop the "every book" requirement? Just say "no" to all the variants. Alternately, you could just draw a line in the sand of time and collect only those books that came before it. I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, but I've purchased and read a grand total of 5 issues published after I first stopped collecting in 1991.
  15. A new arrival! Now I just need to find a nice #1 to go in between it and my AF #15... That and tweak the color settings on my scanner. It looks much brighter in hand.
  16. I've got a nice 9.6 WP newsstand copy that I bought from Steve Borock a few years back. I'll post a scan this evening.
  17. Kudos to Tempus Fugit for setting me up with Captain Britain Weeklies #1 - #3 (with the mask and boomerang inserts) in response to my WTB thread. Loki's Cap. Britain WTB Thread Thanks, John. It was a pleasure doing business with you!
  18. Kudos to Francisco for a beautiful looking ASM #80 CGC 9.2 white-pager ( from this thread ). Thanks again! It was a pleasure doing business with you! :hail:
  19. Isn't this issue moot now that Arch has banned Taz and all his shills? Speaking of which, who was "Janitor"? I don't recall seeing that ID anywhere...
  20. Kudos to rube11 for a great looking ASM #73 9.4 with white pages (just the way I like 'em)! This is at least the fourth time I've done business with Steve, and he's always been very professional. Ships quickly, books are safely packaged, great communication. Thanks again!  ASM 73 CGC 9.4
  21. I'll start you off... I've dealt with blue808 a few times over the years, and I've always been happy with my purchases. As a testament to Bill's grading skills, I bought this one earlier in the year graded as a NM+ raw -> ASM #133 Raw And guess what? CGC agreed. You'll now find it in my registry as a 9.6 white pager. Spot-on grading!
  22. Nice one! And a Northland pedigree to boot... :hail:
  23. I just got this beauty in the mail from Spider-Dan. The scan doesn't do it justice...
  24. Kudos to Spider-Dan for an outstanding ASM #39 CGC 9.0 with White Pages. Bomb-proof packaging, speedy shipping and great communication. A perfect transaction. Thanks again, Dan. It was a pleasure doing business with you.
