  1. Exactly. Alleybat was in the HOS for the Batman #1 scam. For quite some time, BucOne aka etc. was in the HOS as a separate entity for various other shenanigans. It was only in the past 4-6 months that someone provided proof that Alleybat and BucOne were the same person.
  2. That ought to make the thread he tossed up a $3000 in interesting too...
  3. That's a bit of an understatement. I don't think it is. sure it was an expenssive book, and apparantly put the seller in a bad situation, but that shouldnt make him any more eligable for the HOS then if it were a $1.00 book that he didnt pay for . in the end its the act not the value . and considering (to my knowledge) TFL had a bad (very bad) dealing with a single member vs the 4 or 5 that Danimal is involved with, makes Danimal(IMO) much more worthy of a HOS spot then TFL is. again, just my . I don't think it was just the five-figure dollar value that resulted in the HOS bump. Stringing the seller along for months and months with promises of payment contributed. As did the utter lack of remorse after backing out of the deal. But I think the biggest factor was the hypocrisy regarding restitution for expenses. If I recall correctly, TFL had someone back out of a deal for a ~$100 book which he subsequently sold for less than the original deal. TFL wanted the original buyer to make up his "loss" on the book. This occurred shortly after TFL had refused responsibility for the seller's losses (interest charges, declining a higher offer, etc) on the book that he had backed out on. I believe it was at THIS point that TFL got nominated for the Probation List. The seller had otherwise been willing to let it go, but got pissed about the double standard. Of course I may have misremembered some of the details...

  10. In all fairness, I believe this was applied only in one or two instances where the buyer flat out said that they had no intention of paying. It seems harsh to force the seller to wait 30 days under those circumstances. Especially if it means they have to hold onto books for a month instead of putting them back up for sale.
  11. Why not put a third tier onto the system? Hall of Shame for multiple repeat offenders (eg. Cap Freak), those who have engaged in outright fraudulent activity (eg. Alleybat) or anyone who has made the Probation List while engaging in especially shameful behavior. Probation List for the standard offenders who failed to complete a transaction inside 30 days. Perhaps with an upgrade to HoS status on the third offense? (Maybe second offense?) Grey List for members who, by consensus, have acted in an unprofessional manner without actually making the Probation List. "Deal with at your own risk. You've been warned. We told you so..."
  12. Well, I finished reading the whole Yannis / mt1000 TEC fiasco over in General... I've noticed quite a few people making remarks about how the situation isn't a Probation List issue since the book has been sold and there's no way to resolve the original transaction. It's my understanding that it becomes a Probation List issue if mt1000 choses to make it one. That the original transaction can't be completed isn't a factor. Addition to the list and removal from the list have always been at the discretion of the offended party. There have been a number of past Probation List issues resolved without finalizing the original transaction. These involved getting a "pardon" and have usually involved the offender making a sincere public apology at the request of and to the satisfaction of the offended party. I'm sure there are other "community service" options available as well, if the offended party wanted to get creative. I guess what I'm tryiing to say is that mt1000 shouldn't feel that he has no options regarding the Probation List simply because the original deal can't be completed. Now the Hall of Shame, on the other hand, is a different matter. I think that's always operated on majority vote...
  13. And perhaps the next incarnations will be sextuplets named William, Willy, Will, Billy, Bill and Liam...
  14. From Thesavros' sales thread in Copper/Modern... From last year's Probation List discussion regarding Taz007... Perhaps it's just me, but I fail to see the humor in this situation ... So... Thesavros' name is Luke and Taz007's name is Lucas. And they're "brothers". I think I'd need to see driver's licenses before I'd believe any set of parents would name their kids Luke and Lucas. Why not make it more confusing and name them Joey and Joe? Or Franklin and Frank? Not that I think anyone had any doubts, but I call B.S.
  15. It starts around here: Taz fiasco begins... Short version - he CLAIMED got in a car accident with no insurance WHILE TELLING A STORY THAT HAD MORE HOLES IN IT THAN SPONGEBOB and couldn't afford to pay for books he bought from a number of people. Fleshed out that summary for you. (thumbs u

  18. I see we finally hit the 2000 pages of Kudos mark! Nice to see a milestone that doesn't involve the Probation discussion for a change...
  19. A couple of new additions this week. Old-label Curator goodness...
  20. Kudos to campued1010 for a pair of sweet silver age ASM slabs. Pleasant to deal with, great communication, bomb-proof packing... An all around excellent transaction. It was a pleasure doing business with you again, Andre.
  21. CGC shipped my books using FedEx and with insurance. If you've got an idea of the value of your books, you ought to be able to find a shipping calculator at the Fedex website. This reminds me... I've got a set of coupons expiring soon. I should probably put together an order myself.
  22. I've only sent two lots of books to CGC for grading, but other than the shipping fees each way, I've never had any extra hassles. Be sure to keep the paperwork from the outbound shipment, though. There's not supposed to be a duty on goods sent to the US for appraisal that are being returned to you. It's a good idea to keep copies of your CGC submission form and Canada Post receipt just in case Canada Customs dings you anyway. (thumbs u
  23. A couple of recent additions that I haven't had a chance to post yet... Perfectly centered, white pages and only a few minor defects that bring down the grade. Just the way I like them! A beautiful ASM #30 courtesy of Worldwide. A sharp ASM #55 that I picked up from A-1 on eBay...
  24. I'm in the market for a copy, so I'll be watching... BTW - When you list it, would you be able to include a back cover scan too? My scanner unfortunately doesn't quite fit slabs. I can try to take a close up picture of the back for you though. Thanks! (thumbs u
