Howdy, Getting the word out that @MrBedrock is hosting a group of OA collectors at his store on Westheimer next weekend after the store closes at 7:00pm for FCBD. Philip Churchill and Tom Coker will be there, Alex and Will will probably be there, another collector from out of town will be making an appearance. Other usual suspects. Things that you don't see posted online anymore are apt to show up there. Things that have never been posted online will for sure be there. I don't think @Weird Paper and I can make it this time, but I promised Philip I'd get the word out. You have been warned!

Secret Wars #1 - Blue Galactus Variant?
MyNameIsLegion replied to Silver Surfer's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Cover and interiors where 2 separate print runs - no one disputes that, but in each print run the beginning of the run when the press is “getting up to color” you will see the most color variations. Normally these get trashed outright but it’s conceivable that some got through for the cover and interior both and both would have been at the same relative position in the piles of printed signatures, so it’s not a stretch that many got married up together. -

Anyone Else Having Trouble Contacting Spencer Beck?
MyNameIsLegion replied to Cat's topic in Original Comic Art
it's mind boggling her still has any clients (artist and inkers) to sell art for, since it's money out of their pockets if people look elsewhere or give up, but Spencer's been bleeding clients for 20 years. -

wait, so the most RECENT sale is not listed. That's indeed underhanded and deceptive. -

If I didn't have better things to do I'd photoshop Glen's face on this, but seeing as how he reported me to the mods and they nuked it when I did that to the Who's the Boss cast photo you just gotta use your imagination.

Secret Wars #1 - Blue Galactus Variant?
MyNameIsLegion replied to Silver Surfer's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I'm pretty sure these are because the Yellow end Magenta plates got swapped. This is a printing error. This vintage the plates would have been metal. at some point they realized the error and swapped the plates. -
challenge accepted! All Trimpe, from Savage Tales vol 2. And I've seen this in person, and it looks even better. Now compare that to his FF Unlimited in the early 90's where he was directed to ape Rob Liefeld, that's another story...

we just need screen shots! Might save you time on general descriptions of the art. I'm waiting for Glen to claim one of Bechara's pieces right there live during the show, then resell the next week as his own.
-
I wonder how big Bechara's commission is?

you as the recipient can also do this once a package has already been sent- just sign into fedex with the tracking number and request they hold it at a nearby fedex facility (and you can choose) I've done this multiple times with HA and others.

Blackstone will claw back a % of auction sales of slabs since they have serial numbers for all slabs produced after they update the CGC terms of use when you send your books in. The cost of slabbing will not be considered a purchase, but some sort of licensing fee. They own it, not you. The possibilities are endless!
-
FYI- since many of you in the OA thread don't poke their head in the other CGC threads: Blackstone bought CGC, which also includes this here message board, and the natives are F R E A K I N G O U T. I don't care too too much, but what if Blackstone or some other VC set there sights on HA? Now that would be interesting....

Google image search, think it's from Star Jammers, but I"m not sure if the image was cropped and it's not a double page spread. Looks a bit fuzzy for that.
-
-
what about that Starjammers series?
-
I think there's one in Marvel Fanfare if that counts...

I realized my mistake just seconds before you correctly corrected me!
