  1. I made a bulk buy of books, and initially thought this was just a torn cover, no big deal.  Sorting through later, I went to toss it in the dollar bin pile and noticed that the corner was not MIA, but uninked.
This book was released a few months prior to ASM 194, and we know about the nifty yellow variant.  What say you?  Anybody else have one like this?

Why don't tell me, what is that exactly? Not everyone is that naive. I'm not the one that should apologize. And why should I apologize? Because I didn't believe in the validity of your "Once-In-A-Lifetime-Discovery"  or jump on your bandwagon? Think before you start posting "fake discoveries" next time. We're community here, we lookout for each other. That's how it works.

I just read through the FaceBook posts' about the Hulk #1 scam, again. According to the FaceBook scam thread, you also purchased the fake CGC 6.0 Amazing Spider-Man #1, along with the fake Captain America comics #1 cover.

According to the FaceBook scam thread, this is your screen shot, right? What's the situation with that? Did you know it was fake? It must've been a lot of money for a book like that. I hope you didn't lose too much money on it. Was that book also thrown in like the Captain America Comics #1 cover because it was worthless? Why didn't you tell the CGC community about the fake CGC 6.0 Amazing Spider-Man #1? Didn't hear a peep about that. Give us some information about the slab. Was it a resealed old CGC slab? Was it a non-CGC 3rd party made slab? How about the label? Also, did you contact CGC's outside counsel, Mark Zaid? He posted all of his contact information on that Facebook scam thread. He wanted to know more information about the fake CGC slabs. There's still a thread in Comics General about this very scam. How about you post all your findings there? Like I said, we're community here, help us out here......hm Come on man, what's with that????

Your community is different than mine, that much is apparent.  You still haven’t copped to your own comment, which is what I asked for.

Don't feel bad or embarrassed.  It could have easily happened to any of us...I don't think anyone was expecting these counterfeits until the story broke and hindsight is 20/20.

I guess the question now.. are the FF 49  and other books real?

Thanks.  I was floating on a cloud. The FF49 was real, but the intended book was not.  A total of three fakes in my bundle, and if you guys are catching the story from other sources, that seems to be this guys MO.  He throws in some legit books, some decent  stuff, others included ASM 365 (not my thing but people dig that for potential), Marvel Premiere 47, some 12 cent Thor and Avengers filler.
He has done this with a handful of others in the area, so I’m taking some comfort in that, as weird as that sounds. My wife isn’t upset with me, and that’s a huge burden lifted.  So yeah, let’s all learn a lesson I guess, and inspect the snot out of your next CGC grail purchase.  I suspect this will change how I buy books from now on, and others as well.
Inspect the snot out of your next purchase gang.  Check the lower seals especially.  He/they are pretty good at this it would seem.

  4. I appreciate hearing the ideas, thanks.   I would like to explore some options, but keeping this isn’t likely.   It’s a grail, holy spoon it’s a grail, but it isn’t MY grail.  It needs to go to someone that is going to appreciate it.
I am thinking about having it slabbed, just for authentication purposes.

In a perfect world, I would like to keep the pages together instead of splitting them, because that’s only proper.   But then they won’t display as nicely if slabbed together….   Those individual art panels are pieces of history….  There are a number of things to consider.

I sent a message through CGC customer service to Matt Nelson, so hopefully a few questions can be answered, or at least options discussed.

If you were a buyer/trader, would you prefer the pages slabbed  inside the cover at a premium even if you didn’t need them?   As in two options, a cover by itself, or a cover with a few pages inside for ten percent more? I realize the cover is the big part here.  Any advice appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Or  if you absolutely have to. Have it “graded” and slabbed. You should already know it will come back NG. Hardly seems worth the cost and time to me…

Just to clarify, I made a two second meme for this, it isn’t in the book like this!!!!!

If you decided to separate, grade and sell them individually, all of them will be gone everywhere.   All of them will NEVER be reunited.

No matter how many pages are missing.  It's better to have them together as the original incomplete book.

Yeah, that’s where my heart is leaning too.  Thanks for saying that.  I need solid advice that respects the book for future collectors.

Can you estimate how much of the book is missing? How many of the interior pages? What do you have, just the Captain America story?

Personally I would put the entire book together, no matter how incomplete.

Most of the book is MIA.  I have four individual leafs, and the cover.   No staples. Not brittle, but the paper is yellowed from time/storage neglect.   They are pretty nice aside from the paper color tint.
