  1. Wait your spouse doesn't get you comics for birthdays or anything?
  2. She saw how upset I was over the book, the owner refused to make it right with me. My girlfriend saw the book and the damaged and was with me so when we got back to the car she told me she would get me another copy for my birthday and for our 5 years as a combined present. She got me comics in the past such as America's Best Comics #16, Zip Comics #45 (been waiting for grading at CGC since June 7th), and Omega Man #3 CGC 9.6. To be fair when someone damaged her favorite purse so I got her a new one, so its okay for it to go both ways. It can't be 1 sided otherwise am out. Am not a ATM you know?
  3. That's what you get when you use CGC, slow, bad timing, lazy and made me go to CBCS for my store. Quarter of the price Quarter of the time.
  4. I live in Garden city 😂... On Long Island... And glad to see someone with such positive vibes, if y'all wanna be a d about it don't comment. (Photos from my other post)
  5. Positive note the situation worked out! I looked at the book after seeing the photos taken and it's just dust that was on the mylite bag after being left out overnight on my desk. Didn't notice it in the photos before I left for work so my bad. The presser gave me money back to make up for the difference in the damage of the book (we agreed it's a 8.0) and the before grade was a 9.4 so he paid the difference but for the Marvel Spotlight 32 he said it was like that when he got it so that means when I gave it to the owner it got damaged. He denied it so I did not get anything for Marvel Spotlight 32. So I just took it as a loss. but on a positive note my level headed girlfriend who simply listened and said she would buy me another copy for my birthday and for our 5 year anniversary. I was going to get these books pressed but thank God I didn't 😂 Other note I talked to other people who got their books done by the same guy at the same store and most of them had amazing experiences and a few had issues regarding his technique. His name is William Saviano, his like a middle aged man with a tattoo of reverse flash on his left arm, he wears wired glasses from like the 70s. He goes to shops in Nassau County to press books. The owner usually moves around the island and apparently burns bridges with everyone he meets, his name is Jason (don't know last name) and he worked for Emerald Comics.
  6. Idk the book does look cleaner but there's some really really fine light black dirt marks, all I know is the book was NOT DAMAGED before I gave him the books, then once I saw the books after he had them they were damaged.
  7. I doubt the Black Terror would complain about something when he can basically stop bullets and stop a train without any effort 😂
  8. I hope the Marvel special edition is still a 8.0/7.5 copy with that tear, anything Lower then I really lost big
  9. 1 his been going there buying every book that comes out weekly, 2 his a family friend of his, 3 he presses books for free and the owner of the store is very very VERY cheap, 4 he pressed is copy of AF #15, and other golden age books and they came back slightly better
  10. Before and after of the Marvel special edition #15 the tear is above the i in Comics
  11. First off, I traded this guy some books late silver age and bronze age mid-high grade books ($9k worth) for about $9k MAYBE $12k if they got graded at CGC so I thought to myself why not get the best books pressed first. So I got 3 books that needed a little love and 2 of them came back with damage, Marvel Spotlight #32 came back with the bottom left corner completely blown out, Marvel Special edition #15 came back with a tear at the header of Marvel Comics. The guy that did the pressing ended up giving the books to the owner of the LCS without telling me or him about the damage. The owner of the store once I realized the damage saw I was getting heated and pissed and the owner had the balls to say to me that I should NOT tell the presser guy because he would never come back (presses the owners books for free) and if I told him how I felt that he would never come back to the store. So I snapped at the owner for being uncaring or unmoved with the books that were damaged. Then I go home and I realize I lost about $3k due to the damage of the books and what the grades were before the press. They had non color breaking spine creases. So basically I went down from Marvel Spotlight #32 (before a press 9.4) and I was hoping for a 9.6 with the press but now am lucky if it comes back a 7.0/7.5 , the Marvel Special edition #15...went from a 9.4 EASILY to a 7.5/8.0 with the same tear at the top of the book maybe 3 Centimeters.... So I lost money... a lot of potential money....
  12. I have been collecting since I was 9 so 13 years of collecting! And a downturn is like the stock market. It's doesn't go down. It gets cheap!
  13. I mean... I made $6k+ in 2 days selling books I got for dirty cheap Collection I payed $1100 for... It's all selling through my Instagram. I make more money selling and buying comics then I do with the stock market. The stock market is not a tangible item. People have no faith in the government ( I don't ) or the stock market since it's all rigged like everything is now a days. I made insane amounts of money through gamestop. I saw it on reddit and played along and I made $15k+. But now I am banned from robinhood for taking part in what billionaire's do and our politicians. So I realized with the stock market has ceiling you can not break otherwise you get banned or basically removed. It's okay for them to do it but not okay for the average person to do it and they get punished for it?. Why would I ever reinvest in the stock market after knowing it's rigged or that I am being played and am not allow to do what I want to make more money by driving up the price through purchasing 1 stock just like what Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and other billionaires do and openly admit to in interviews? They know what's going to go up and know how to milk it all I am doing is helping them get richer. As someone who s 22. I only invest in tangible historic items like WW2 memorabilia, Comic Books (Golden age war covers and marvel/dc keys), Gold and palladium. People my age invest in tangible items for the insurance that it's physically ours with no strings attached. It's a part of history and I know I can make my money back or more. I lost all faith in the stock market and am not alone. On reddit 118k people around my age feel the same way and it's growing every day gaining more and more members who are pulling out of the market due to inflation, the government printing money, the insane bs taxes that are being passed on the market and not being able to do what the billionaire's do. It's a joke.
  14. I use my unemployment money 😂 and money aid from the government. I just went on unemployment and claimed Covid was the cause and laid off because of Covid. I make $600 a week more then I made Actually working. 😂 And $1400 went right too comics and stocks. So that's where the money is coming from. The people who are my age also are not investing into the 'traditional' stock market. They are buying tangible items for insurance. Like gamestop. After that shindig everyone on this one reddit post who made gamestop jump up all pulled out of the stock market after we knew it's rigged and only set up for billionaire's and politicians. It's okay for Warren Buffett to talk about it and laugh about it in an interview regarding pushing the prices up but once normal people do it (like myself) we all get banned from robinhood or removed from being able to trade stocks? Why is it rules for the not for me. That's why people are buying tangible items with historical significance
  15. I mean FF #1 was always expensive and when compared to DC keys its not even coming close to the popularity or cost. Popularity in terms of how much the keys increases per year. 2018 $2 Mill for Action Comics #1 and the same copy less than three years later sold for $3.25 Mill Before I got into comics I did not even hear or know about FF or even X-Men. My girlfriend found out about FF and X-Men when we started to date back in 2017.
  16. well a google search shows that Superman is the most popular and most known super heros of all time, while batman and spidey flip flop for second and third. When I first got into comics Superman the tv show just started to maybe thats why kids around my age are closer to superman then batman. https://comicbook.com/movies/news/the-50-most-important-superheroes-ranked/#26 https://heroichollywood.com/superman-spider-man-most-popular-hero-poll/
  17. 19 people that are in that age area, I know 5 or 6 younger people but they only collect spec books for a quick flip.
  18. at my age branch like 22-25 I see more Golden Age Superman, Action Comics collectors then I do batman or detective. In fact, I have one friend who only collects anything with a big banners like More fun, Adventure, Action etc. My close comic book friends in the hobby mainly collect Golden Age superman/ action comics and we as a whole collect the modern superman stories as well (if it is actually good). Do not get me wrong Spiderman is a good character but after a specific age it does not age well. Like after high school for me personally I lost connection with spiderman and felt as though its suck in that age group of 12-18. While superman is just overall (since its so different and impossible) a better character for all ages without feeling well old... my friend had a interesting point regarding that superman is more the fantasy dream that every grown up has with the ability to life, being basically unstoppable, and insanely strong. I work and I dont wanna get lost in a book that reminds me of my actually life. I rather get lost in a book about the extreme impossible over the top stories about space and aliens etc. you know? its hard to explain tbh. its like projecting the weakness of our selves onto a character that is bullet proof is easier for me and my friends then it is to get lost with a teenager dealing with high school drama that I lived through. Comics are the one part of my childhood that remained the same with the struggles of being well not invincible and very vulnerable. DC comics were the staple in my life so I guess thats why I am closer with them then I am too marvel. Also because it reminds me of my grandparents since they lived through WW2 and Korean and how simple life must have been without the phones or internet. They talked about Superman all the time from what I remember saying that it was better then television which is hard to picture now a comic book being more enjoyable then TV. Plus Superman was made for people who wanted to escape from the depression and every day life to have a few minutes to feel like nothing can harm them since they are so strong. That is the vibe I get.
