  1. It's funny reading these message boards and seeing the disfunction CGC still had going for themselves.

You guys have it made compared to a few years ago when CGC trading cards first started booming. TAT times for bulk went from 30 days to over 365 days with in like 2 weeks of the boom AND they took payment once you click submit. CGC says TAT should reflect on the day they received your package, which has always been a lie. They use the phrase the fastest TAT in the business just to pull in anyone willing to spend $ to grade cards... Once you shipped your cards to them, there is nothing you can do at that point because they won't cancel your submission or send it back. They will grade your cards and hold them for ransom until you pay up.

So it's best to just move on with your lives and get a surprise in the mail one day once they ship your cards back and take it as a life lesson.

Thanks for keeping me entertained. Lul

Do they grade the cards fairly? Check

Are the labels not bright red? Check

Can you get them for a fair price because the rest of the market is caught in a ponzi scheme, desperately trying to justify their premiums by creating and consuming targeted drama content that the vast majority of could apply to all grading companies? Check

But Im supposed to boycott the company because some angry drama channel pointed out a mistake they made in an extremely niche circumstance that doesn't apply to my use case of their services whatsoever?

And I'm the scrub? Am I the one trolling an obscure thread of a company I no longer use because of a bad experience that happened literally years ago? That's really embarrassing.

Edit: Oh so two years ago? So around the time when PSA submissions were being accepted that ended up being returned literally years later? This is what I mean. Try to move on. Give opposum bud a rest, he is a sad little man and he is making you one too.

    TL/DR

PSA grades cards that haven't been released yet, grades fake cards, and no idea what you are referring to with the last part but it sounds like I'm watching a Poketuber drama video and I'm already bored with it. We are talking about turnaround times, and no I'm not shilling for them. I have been extremely critical of them about turnaround times and will continue to be. Stick to the youtube comment section with all that other stuff, your head is being filled with junk from losers who either sell PSA slabs for a living or hate CGC because they gave them too many 9s.

No need to attack me with ignorance. Do some research and educate yourself. I thought it would be fun to get my cards graded with my kids through CGC roughly 2 years ago and ended up in the same position as yall are in now. When I made my first bulk sub, TaT was like 40 some days. We didn't get our submission back for 8 months and that's was during the time CGC took payment right when you clicked submit.

Once again, welcome to CGC scrub! Hope you have been enjoying your stay. 😆

What benefits do I get with already having a yearly premium membership since one is no longer required? Also if my previously graded 9.5s are now automatic 10s, what can you do for me? I still have almost a full year of my paid membership remaining.

They will re-slab them for you for $5 a pop.

Ok, I’m not sure why the subgrade % is so low. People I have talked to that use CGC grading aren’t happy they are being removed, and people (including myself) that would switch to CGC from the others would do so for the subgrades. I use CGC for the comic and coin grading side, so would like to do card grading through CGC. Combining and stadndardizing everything is great since that was one of the main reasons I never sent anything in (multiple submission channels and differing slab types and grading scales), so standardizing on one platform was huge. Just needed to keep the subgrades to move people over the hump, and to keep people who are now looking at CGC as another psa or sgc instead of having a competitive differentiator and advantage.

The reason why the % of people using subgrades is so low is because they raised the price of the service from $5 to $15 per card for subgrades....

  6. I would like to send 2 of my pristine 10 slabs back to CGC to be reholdered with the new labels. They are only worth 5 10 dollar each. But the $5 handling fee and the $20 to ship these two back to me is outrageous. Is their a cheaper option I don't know about or am I stuck with these slabs as is? With all these changes I'm starting to think CGC doesn't care about the hobby, only the money. This whole ordeal seems like a scheme already....

Hello @Vagrantwade, thank you for contacting us. CGC Trading Cards has developed a proprietary algorithm to determine a card’s final grade based on its sub-grades. While we can’t explain how we arrived at the grade and sub-grades for a specific card, we can share some guidelines. First, it is important to note that the final grade is not simply an average of the sub-grades. Rather, it is based on numerous rules built into CGC Trading Cards’ proprietary systems and grading process. For example, the final grade can be no more than .5 points higher than the lowest sub-grade, which I suspect may have been the case with your card. In addition, if the two lowest sub-grades are the same, then that is the final grade for the card.  For more info on the CGC Trading Cards grading scale, including detailed explanations for each grade and sub-grade, visit  https://www.cgccards.com/card-grading/grading-scale/

Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

You say the final grade can be no more than .5 points higher than the lowest sub-grade. But why are there cgc slabs on ebay with 1 whole point higher than the lowest sub-grade?

    Hello @JsCardShop

Thank you for reaching out to us. I am not able to evaluate cards or errors via shared photos. To confirm if the card is recognized as an error, it would need to be submitted for grading. I can share the following additional information:

CGC Trading Cards | Error Guide.

Some common items that we do not recognize:

    • Holo Bleed - when the holographic decal of the card shifts into the main body of the card.

    • Crimping - Card damage from the pack foil sealing mechanism. This is considered damage and not an error.

    • Cardboard cards - These were never intended to be cards. This is not an error.

    • Stamp-through error - This is a normal occurrence from the foil die. The wet ink from the card was transferred to the card stacked on top of it.

If you need any additional help, please let us know.

    Have a good day!

Just so everyone knows, CGC DOES recognize factory crimping as a error. Just to clear anymore confusion....

    Hello @Youey

Thank you for reaching out to us. If you would like to have subgrades added to your card, you can submit it for regrading. When we receive the card, it will be cracked-out of its holder and graded as raw card. I am sorry, but we do not offer the option to screen the card for a minimum grade before cracking it out. The service fees will be the grading fee according to the tier chosen and the subgrade fee of $5.00.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Isn't it $15 for subgrades?... I wish it was only $5... $15 is crazy for extra ink on the label....
