  1. ....any chance of seeing this in your next sales thread ? GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Well, now that you mention it.....NAAAAH!
  2. I am not a fan of a lot of word balloons on covers, but these lines are classic!
  3. I asked Shawn Van Briesen what would a splash page look like if Wally Wood did a parody of the Suicide Squad in a early issue of MAD...here is his answer!
  4. Another Suicide Squad commission - Task Force X takes on the manimals of Dr Moreau! Great work by Daniel Campos.
  5. Those are all gorgeous, but this one is flat out This one is not only one of my favorite robot covers, but also my favorite sentient robot story -- a classic!
  6. And the ripple effect has begun... Yes, it will be interesting to see how this does. I wonder if yesterday's winner will be watching. This is interesting. Its a shame that you cant see information about who the bidders are anymore on ebay - I would bet that the bidders in the first auction are not golden age comic book fans but rather die-hard MM fans, which means that condition really isnt much of an issue, its more about having the item to complete one's collection (Kind of what comic collecting used to be all about - ah, well...). I suspect if a comic dealer buys this book and puts it on CLink, not much will happen. It needs to be put in front of the right collectors!
  7. Here are a handful of books that I remember buying from good ol' Marnin:
  8. Marnin once told me I was his "best customer" in the early and mid-90s. With the number of pre-heros and DC Sci-Fi I bought from him, I am sure I was one of his major benefactors back then!
  9. That ST 97 and TOS 3 are both gorgeous copies! Here's one you dont see every day!
  10. I'm selling some nice high grade DC sci-fi pedigrees! http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6455499&fpart=1
  11. I better get to bed...I'm feeling very GROGGY!
  12. Say, nice Portsmouth books! Here are a few more JIMs: Behold ZOG, OROGO, and SHAGG (yeah, baby!)
  13. Well, most of the pre-heros that you would find in the dollar bin were pretty beat-up, but once in a great while you would find a rare VF/VF+ gem hidden in the mix.
  14. I also tried contacting numerous Catholic organizations, and no one was really able to provide any substantive information. In fact most never heard of the Guild. If you contact anyone and they actually have knowledge, let me know!!! (thumbs u Why not just reprint the stories and see if anyone comes a calling...what's the worst that could happen?
  15. Well, if it's any consolation, they probably weren't really VF/NM. Yup, yesterday's VF/NM is probably today's F/VF or worse. At least that's what we're hoping!! .....30 bucks was a LOT of money in '77.......you could get real nice single digit ASM's and FF's for that....and that's what everyone was collecting. A high grade X-men 1 was gettable for 30. Terry's still in business today....he's one dealer I'd like to see an in depth "over the years" interview done on. I wonder if Vinny's done the treatment on him on the Comic Zone radio show.....awesome and ARCHIVED at www.metropoliscomics.com ....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u I sold my ASM 1-50 set in 1971 (the #1 was the GRR copy) for $65 bucks... I had a somewhat tertiary friend who was bugging/badgering the s h i t e out of me for weeks ...I think I sold it to him just to get him off my back...oh yeah, and probably needed some cash to buy some weed... [ Those prices seem kind of high for pre-heros in '77 - I would imagine that those grades would have had to be remarkable to command such a price for the time. Up until the early 90's, you could still find very respectfully graded pre-hero's in the dollar bin at conventions.
  16. Nice Cave Carsons! Here is the first CC from Brave & the Bold:
  17. Oh, there are some nice copyies of MGA out there - for those who know how to look!
  18. GROOT is hot, eh? Who whould have thought that! I will have to dig (heh) up a scan of TTA 13 - meanwhile here is a TOS #13 - maybe ELECTRO will make a comeback!
