  1. I would hop on the express bus from the Bronx and visit the Supersnipe Comic Store in Yorkville in the 70s at least once a month. Very small shop, but it was one of only a few comic shops in the area that had decent back issues. I remember buying a near complete set of Peanuts first edition books there. The other shop I visited (when my parents would take me) would be the ComicCove in Yonkers - I got most of my SA books there. My dad could not believe it when I paid $20 for a HULK #6!
  2. I tend to not deal with artists that have a reputation for taking your money up front and then either never contact you again or spit our endless excusses for not delivering on the promised date: "I got the flu", "my house was lost in a flood", "I broke my wrist", "my dog died"....etc. I cant tell you how many Ive heard these excuses (even the same ones over a period of months - hey at least get some new material! ). Seriously, I insist on always paying 1/2 up front and the rest upon completion. Paying half gives you an excuse to b_itch about them being late!
  3. El Toro, I am digging your collection! What else do ya got?
  4. Hey, I thought we agreed to stop using gerbils and nipple clamps after that last...er...unfortunate incident.
  5. KANE is King of the Bronze Age cover artists!

  10. Hey Alan, You should fill those racks up with your pre-hero White Mountians - that would be quite a site to behold! Bill
  11. Very cool! I always wanted to get a Showcase #3 (Frogman) recreation from the master himself.
  12. Oh, NO! The male members of the Squad have been turned into Zombies...will Karin be next? Wonderful work by Ken Haeser!
  13. Another epic color Suicide Squad commission by Tom Fowler - guest-starring GI ROBOT!
  14. Two of my favorite TTA monsters - TITANO and DROOM!
  15. Nice TTA 10! Poor TITANO got that date stamp right in the peepers - ouch!
  16. Now there's something you dont see everyday. Bolland does a great Atom. Just curious about the subject matter selection. I would have asked him for a OML for a CAMELOT 3000 or a JUDGE DREDD cover. How did you pick the Atom?
  17. Remember that OMAC stands for One Man Army Corps. One Man Army = Super Soldier. OMAC was created by the government in a very similar way that Captain America was. The only difference was that OMAC was an outcast in a dystopian future and fought against his creators. Fighting American was not created as a parody, but evolved (devolved?) into a parody of a Red-bashing superhero after the first issue didnt sell so well. He was the most obvious Cap clone.
  18. Here are a couple more early TOS books - 2 super monster covers

  21. Wow, when you think about it, how many times did Kirby re-invent Captain America: 1) The Guardian 2) Fighting American 3) Private Strong 4) OMAC 5) any others?
  22. Here is the never reprinted version of Kirby's THOR from Tales of the Unexpected #16. From 1957 - THE MAGIC HAMMER
