  1. Nice collection of MONSTERS ON THE PROWL... my favorite Bronze Marvel monster title. I love to compare Gil Kane's "updated" covers to the originals. Kane did a fantastic job of reporducing these covers for the swinging 70s. Ya gotta love SSERPO. MOTP #27 was one of the first comics I ever got. I remember thinking that this monster was the Thing, mutated and gigantified (is that a word?) by some vile super-villian. And speaking of SSERPO, if you read the story, you will see many similarities in the plot of this comic to that of the 1998 American Tri-Star GODZILLA film. As John Lennon used to say... "Merry Kringle"!
  2. Are there any Marvel/Altas greytones? I have always suspected that SPEED CARTER #1 is a greytone, but since I don't own a copy, I am not sure. Bill
  3. Thanks Bill! Here's another great 50's cover - with great interior JOHNNY PERIL art by Toth
  4. Who else could personify the Atomic Age then that nasty Commie... The Yellow Craw.... No, not "Craw"..... CRAW!!!!
  5. Ah, SHOWCASE 3.... the Holy Grail of "Frogman Covers". Awesome book.
  6. Here is my personal favorite DC War Washtone. Its also the first issue of DC issues after the Quality line folded, so could this be the first DC War washtone? Bill
  7. And just so you dont think I'm just a "Kirby Zombie", here is another favorite cover of mine from the late 50's. As I am partial to "Frogman" covers as well, this baby does double duty in my collection. This issue has some great underwater artwork by Al Williamson. (please pardon the Marvel chip!)
  8. Hot Dog!!! A pre-hero Marvel thread... This one is one of my favorites and it occurs towards the twilight of the Marvel Age of Monsters. Awesome Kirby cover... one of the King's best!
  9. Here is a book you don't see everyday - a 50's greytone TOMAHAWK cover. I love this cover! I always got confused about Tomahawk - was it primarily supposed to be a western or a war book? Enjoy! Bill
